How is your Victoria Game going?

Forming Grossdeutschland takes some luck and skill.

I'm finding it pretty hard. Seems night on impossiable if Austria allies with France or UK, which has happened in 2 of my attempts today. But 3rd attempt now and they've allied with Spain, so here's hoping!

I can get North German federation by end of 1841 easily enough so building up my army in preparation of attacking Austria soon.

I personally find it easy, with France you just need to wait till they get entangled in some war (probably with Algiers or with the Netherlands) and then you hit Austria hard (though you'd best try and keep Russia from allying with them). If they ally themselves with the UK, great, they never do you anything, they're always too busy in their islands, the most they might do is blockade you but that's a joke when you're steamrolling over Austria.

Declare war with the assert hegemony CB and then occupy them 100% till they fall from GP and then add the add to sphere CB and they'll be yours once you form Germany. Though you'd best already have formed the NGF by now and reclaimed Alsace-Lorraine from France otherwise they might become a GP again in the meantime.

Is the assert hegemony Cb still in Heart Of Darkness? I couldn't see it when I looked.

So finished my first game on Heart Of Darkness. This would be the great Socialist paradise of Germany. Intrestingly during the 1920's the UK was actually the bastion of world communism, they became communist after I defeated them in a great war. Then some pesky liberals otherthrew the commies and they went back to being a democracy. The USSr formed early 1920's as well, and fought a rather realistic civil war which the Bolsheviks won (though spot the independent state of Crimera which formed itself!) Italy and Poland are both fascist, as is China and Ukraine.

Didn't really have the capability to do much land grabbing up until after 1910 and got high war exaushtion as was basically fighting constant wars after 1880ish so it took forever to justify wars.

Honestly I just forgot about Krakow. Reason being is that Poland was allied with the Uk, who was my ally up till about 1910, before I fought against them in a great war. Then they became allied with Italy, who were my ally forever it seems, up untill 1930ish when i finally decided I was powerfull enough to take on everyone so backstabbed Italy (who had turned fascist anyway so it mader sense) by attaking the Poles.

Luxemburg I never got a chance to take, and when i did I decided to land grab France rather than Luxemburg and my Jingoism wouldn't go high enough to add another war goal.

Davo's Germany is more badass though. If only he had cleaned up that Poland. I dreamed of taking bigger bites out of Russia but man is Russia a tough nut to crack. Just occupying Siberia is... uggh.

The recent few posts are making me want to buy Heart of Darkness though. Feeling that Vicky 2 urge.

Thats very impressive! I din't get outside of Europe...i'm not very good at the Naval aspect of Victoria 2 yet and Heart Of Darkness makes it harder (but better).

Need to decide which country to try next. Always tempting to try and create an uber-sized Russia or France but that seems pretty hard.

It's quite obviously a 1861 start with a decision I modded in, how else do you think one could have taken Moscow without taking on the rest of Russia?

I only did that of one province changing owner one at a time for the uncolonised African coastline, that was silly in retrospective but since it's done, I won't delete it now.

With latest Heart Of darness patch I figured i'd have my first attempy on Victoria 2 at an Italian game. Started off as Two Sicilies.

Finished 4th behind Germany, USA and then the UK. Not bad I think. Spent most fo the game ensuring I had an alliance with Germany, and alot fo the time with Uk as well. France finished 7th behind China and Japan, Russia in 8th.

Don't really have much of an empire outside of Europe, just Tunisia and a bit of Greece and Egypt. Notice Isreal though, they are my satellite after I took Palestine from the Ottomans and chose the jewish homeland event then released them.
