How Many Different Ways Do You Know to Tie a Tie?

The only way I know is to ask someone who knows another way.
I once tried to teach myself with you tube-videos because I needed a tie in the evening. I - in principle - managed. But it didn't look well. So I had some one else do it. And since then I am comfortable to fall back on that strategy.

I used a Pratt knot for the first time today. I loved it. It may well be my new go to knot.

I love how it gives the width of a Windsor but sits flat.

Why do people insist on wearing bow ties? They look silly and dated. Yet every once in a while you'll see some random doofus with one on.. what gives? Who is giving these people fashion advice?

Unless you're a secret agent, stay away from bow ties.

As for ties, I can only tie them one way.. by googling "how do ties work?"

How does one even get started wearing bowties? They're not popular with the kids.. Do parents force their kids to wear them? How does one begin??!? How are they still getting sold?

I know three, and am extremely happy to say I am so rusty at all of them that I would be hard pressed to get one done. I do not anticipate getting anything but rustier. Currently I am working on getting far enough out of practice that I can't tie shoes either.

The traditional neck time emphasizes the length of the body and draws attention to one's groin. Bow ties emphasis width and draw attention to the ears.

This does not explain why someone would wear a bow tie. Instead, it should give you even more reason not to trust a man wearing a bow tie.

I've been watching a lot of The West Wing lately, a serial drama from the late 90s. The sartorial choices are interesting. A great number of the men wear four in hand knots. Also, the suits on the male characters are generally way too big.
