How many Greek triremes would it take to take down a battleship

ewok style battle is possible on land, but on sea its kinda difficult to utilize the terrain. There's no rock or logs to set up for ambush. You'd have to carry them all from the land.

Tireme could try to lure it into some natural hazards i suppose. bit of a stretch still as the ships are far inferior in manuvering and it largely requires incompetence from the guy commanding the battleship. Hey maybe if its an Italian captain.... hmm.

Battleships actually have a preset kill limit, so you simply have to send wave until wave until it shuts down on its own.

Battleship would kite the triremes all day long. Once it was out of ammunition the battleship would simply disengage into deep water.

After googling, I still have no idea what that is.

Show me the medal they gave you for that.

Have we considered the possibility of surrounding the battleship with millions of wrecked and half floating triremes? The mass could then be lit on fire, perhaps heating the battleship to the point where the metal simply became too hot for the crew to stand. At the very least you'd break its air conditioning.

Ahh, going for the Pyreic victory?

one , if it is crewed by aliens with shielding tech and personal beam weapons .

But what if the Triremes had 50 caliber machine guns and recoilless rifles mounted on them? I know by them selves it wouldn't be enough, but on infinite + triremes it seems doable.

Still not enough to penetrate the armor.

One is enough. If you send it towards the enemy's port he will have to leave your shores and go onto the defensive.

Eventually the ocean will be full of shipwrecks. This immobileses the battle ship and the crew starves to death.

You have any concept of how much driftwood it would take to stop a massive battleship from moving? 100s of 1000s :p

If you stacked all the triremes together so they looked like a big wooden battleship, and then released some pheromones to get the battleship's attention, assuming it is in heat, then you could sail the triremes out to sea and the battleship would become frisky and pursue the triremes.

It would depend on what they were packing and what type of tactics they were using. They would need a weapon capable of penetrating steel several inches thick.

If you could retrofit the the triremes with a missile launcher I suppose it might work.

If you have a good ASM you don't need the trireme. C'mon!

We need to think of unconventional tactics.

For example, if you set a sufficiently large number of triremes on fire you could asphyxiate the battleship crew, or bury them in soot, or something. We'd need to ask a scientist with nothing better to do....

At the very least you could make freeze the BB's crew in a terrible "Trireme Winter". But that'd take too long to be practical. Plus: collateral damage.

Are we talking the triremes with the rams on the noses? I figure a number of well placed rams could sink a battleship if it hits at a weld or a seam.
