Because it wasn't until a few months ago that I realized that that's how I behave at parties. :p

You didn't know you weren't talking to anybody? Just how drunk you usually were? :D

Last party I attended was my brother's high school graduation party 6 months ago.

When I realized a few months ago that my behavior was like that, I made a vow to never again attend parties.

So far I've done a good job at not attending parties. :p

That's stupid.

I am no ardent party goer myself, but I do enjoy attending a party once in a while. It gives you something to think about, you meet new people or talk and have fun with the ones you already know, and relax. Think of it as replenishing the "social needs" bar in the Sims games :)

So if you want to just isolate yourself because you think that's what being introverted means, then you're consciously setting yourself up for a miserable life.

To be fair, if someone your age would really enjoy a high school party then it would've been much stranger. Maybe that's just me, but i feel very out of place at "parties" beyond my age group.

I apologize for making myself look perverted. :(

It's a long story, but my brother is special needs, and it was designed to be a family-friendly party, hosted by our parents. Not one of his high school peers attended.

Still, I would probably be out of place in such a party anyway.

possible... I became more introvert during the time I had a relationship.. when that finished I became more extrovert again... might have something to do with the need for attention from the other sex

There are some women (and men) who actually persuade or influence their partners to not socialize with others (mostly insecure people). The past girl I was involved in was like this. She never directly asked me to give up my female friends, but I could sense it. So I did give up my female friends and I isolated myself for this woman. I would stay indoors because if I ever went out, she'd think I was with other women and accuse me of having sex with some woman at the bar. So I never went out or told her I went out. I just stayed inside and played computer games.

Well... I haven't read through all the comments but:
I get depressed if I don't asociate with my friends or aquintences everyday...
I get really depressed... other people and their input are like a battery for me.
I've never understood people who can be satishfied with online debate or online friendships..
That is totally weird to me.
Without my friends and without my dily contact to some of them thru the phone or meeting them(especially girls ;) ) i get very depressed.
I think to me atleast it is a necessity... I could never live solitary

I get some social interaction at work. Sometimes I wonder how my mother can stand retired life. She has almost no social contact. It's why I plan on working until I die :D. I fear the day when I become too old to be useful at any job. Or I become too old for my coworkers, and they don't want to talk to the old geezer. I think I'll just kill myself then. Without work, my social life would be nothing.
