For myself, it is the legal union of man and a woman.

You?

This question is asked in regards to gay "marriage". I think "civil union" for homosexuals is right, rather than marriage.

I don't think it is denying right, i think that is like denying a fish to ride a bycicle.

In the legal sense:

For myself, it is the legal union of man and a woman.

Exactly like this.

In other senses, it's harder to define.

And for everyone who thinks the term "marriage" should include gay marriage, it's your opinion, and you have your opinions, while I have mine. Let's try not to be aggressive towards different opinions, okay?

To me, "marriage" means a relationship between two people that creates a family.

A business transaction. Marriage today has reverted back to when 10 goats got you a wife. Its all about the money. Taxes are the only real reason the gov. regulates "love".

A government or religious backed union between two people who seek unity emotionally, heh - physically, financially, and whom seek the same lifelong goals.

I have no stance on gender relations within yet... the debate rages on.

Physically,financially? :p

If you pay enough, you will get physically ally.:D

Marriage is between a man and a woman.

Solely as the relationship between the sun and its orbiting planets.

A legal union between two consenting adults.

This sums up my position nicely.

I have no idea how marriage cannot apply to two peole of the same gender. Just because it hasn't always been that way doesn't mean it can't be. We haven't always had the internet either, but you "traditional definition" types seem to have adapted to that perfectly fine.

Marriage - legal union between a man and a woman.

Marriage, to me, is a religious concept and should remain exactly that - a religious concept. Legally, there should be the concept of a union between two people that has all the rights and responsibilities of what is currently defined as marriage.

You want to call yourself married? Fine - find a religion that supports your concept and go for it. Just don't expect me to support it. I support the concept of a union as there are too many legal rights granted only to a spouse (and more than just tax).

The United Church of Canada supports it, so it does have religous validity.

But marriage isn't just a religious concept. Not all cultures see it as a religious ceremony at all. In some parts of the world you can still trade live stock for a woman.

Meh, and the women they have stock of are of the low quality type. No thanks.
