This question is asked in regards to gay "marriage". I think "civil union" for homosexuals is right, rather than marriage.

I don't think it is denying right, i think that is like denying a fish to ride a bycicle.

To me, "marriage" means a relationship between two people that creates a family.

This sums up my position nicely.

I have no idea how marriage cannot apply to two peole of the same gender. Just because it hasn't always been that way doesn't mean it can't be. We haven't always had the internet either, but you "traditional definition" types seem to have adapted to that perfectly fine.

Marriage, to me, is a religious concept and should remain exactly that - a religious concept. Legally, there should be the concept of a union between two people that has all the rights and responsibilities of what is currently defined as marriage.

You want to call yourself married? Fine - find a religion that supports your concept and go for it. Just don't expect me to support it. I support the concept of a union as there are too many legal rights granted only to a spouse (and more than just tax).

The United Church of Canada supports it, so it does have religous validity.
