I got a copy of Warlords

Ok, so I'll be leaving in just an hour or two to go get my copy (preordered at EB). In the mean time, since I can't wait, any one know what the new resources are? I know that seems trivial, but I'm curious...

What's with the Shale Plant? Apparently it isn't +10% production, it's +10 production. I don't understand that one  Does it mean an actual +10 solid hammers?

I'd say it means +10 hammers, which is quite nice, considering you can work it up to +20 with all bonuses applied.

In the civilopedia (I'm alt tabbing out from it) indicates that it is +10% hammers in addition to powering your factory as normal. +10 hammers would be much better as you'd need a 100 production to get the same effect.

Why are we getting different information about the Shale Plant? Is it 10 hammers or 10% hammers? Why did they say at Apolyton that it was 10 hammers. The same thing has happened to the Chariots being 50% or 100% all though I would expect them to be 100%.

Okay. I got my info from here, but I trust the civilopedia has the right information. Though from what I've read here and over at Apolyton manual and civilopedia seem to contradict eachother a couple of times.

EDIT: This would also explain some of Watiggi's confusion I suppose

I am reading in the manual, Chariots get +50% vs. axemen. This would make them 6 STR vs. 5 STR (all unpromoted)

Chariots are 100% in the civilopedia. I don't know why you're getting different answers. Its possible the manual/civilopedia are in error and actual gameplay has given 10 hammers and 50%. But I doubt it.

I'll start a game soon to find out though :) .

Finally! A counter to the Axeman Rush! Egypt has become extremely dangerous.

Civilopedia and the in-game unit says its +100%.

Interesting. That would be a heck of an axe counter then... 8 vs. 5... But maybe the axerush needs it...
Yeah it is a heck of a counter. Especially with their cost being only 25 hammers. Now you'll truly need a mixed stack of spears/axes to succeed in an early war.

Also will barb spearmen spawn? If not then chariots are the ideal escort and barb supression units now. Cheap, fast, and have the advantage against both types that spawn.

the new chariot bonus, imo, is one of the best additions. The good thing is that the devo's are trying to take away that "one right way" to victory and, let's be honest, the Axe-rush is a bit played out. It seems, too, they're also trying to make alots of things useful (e.g., the chariots, and the +1 trade route of castles ~ i mean, who used to build castles)

WHAT'S WITH REDCOATS???
I understand cossack nerf(overnerf i'd say) but it'll be insane if redcoats will remain intact.

Why should chariots do better against melee than axemen (what would be the point of the axemen?). Its probably just against axes. Chariots counter axes but aren't good against much else. Axes take out spears. Spears take out Chariots and Horse Archers. Horse Archers harass and pillage, but aren't good against cities. Archers defend cities, etc.

Redcoats and Cossacks were both reduced to base strength of 14/15 respectively. Redcoats only advantage now is +25% against gunpowder, Cossacks its +50% against mounted.
