I hate my mum

Parents cannot ever, even if they try, choose your friends for you. They may limit who you see and spend time with, but friendship is something between you and another person. No one can ever choose somebody elses' friends.

That is completely true and its only for one night that you canot spend with your friends. If you really care so much you could have another party with your friends on another day. Don't complain, just enjoy life...

I am 16 as well, and I'm sorry, but I do agree with your parents. Your friends are obviously losers if they all drink and hang out with someone 9 years younger than themselves. Maybe you should try finding some people your own age that you can relate to.

On a better note, happy birthday!

I know what you could do!!!! (hey bare with me everyone)
If your mum's such a fascist you could buy a Nazi uniform for yourself and all your friends and then get them to wear them round to your house - then your mum would think they were Ok kind of people and everyone would be happy aqnd you could have a NAzi birthday party.

I do feel really sorry for you but I'm beginning to think I'm weird - I really like my parents though they tell me they dont like some of my friends, and I enjoy going to the pub with them and everything: this is not typical behaviour for a 16 yo and im beginning to get a complex about it - please help me someone

Well, if they look like they're drugged up and their parents are fat on social welfare, well...I wouldn't blame them.

I hope thats a joke.

WTH? When did i say that my freinds are 9 years older than me?
Look man, whats wrong with drinking? Anyway, the subject of drinking has nothing to do with this, but for your case, my freinds are not losers. Most of them have ambitions, although some of them are the smartest cookies in the jar, they don't wanna be lying around on the gutter smoking crack.

Well, if you are 16 and you drink (or use any illegal substance), you are a loser.

Holly Canolly, Please. Didnt you take a beer when you was sixteen or took a cigaret. If you didnt your a goodie good foot.

But I got to say, be wise and now your limits. Because you got your whole live for you to live. But if you take a beer on your birthday it would not hurth nobody.

Go and tell your mum, that she should let you live your own live, and if she doesnt like your friends BET LUCK for here. Go and have your party later in the week by one of your friends at home.
So your mum doenst have to see them, isnt that a solution.

wahoo! someone thats thinking rationally! VanOranje is now on my cool book :D (man, i gotta start one of them)

well, im a little less pissed off now... Im probably going out to a movie with some mates tonite, dont worry everyone, i wont drink TOO much ok?, i don't wanna be a loser

but yeah, thanks for the advice everyone, I mite be leaving home at the end of the year. Im just worried about it, coz i still have 1 more year of school, and yeah, i'll have to work to pay for my ****.

Hehehe I'm now 17 and have another two years to look forward to at school and then porbably another couple of years at university where I will run up huge debts...

True although it would be better if there were not the massive debts at the end...Stupid university system.
