If Aliens Arrived - Would You Try to Convince Them About God?

Here is a question to ponder.

If an envoy or scout ship of an Alien race arrived on Earth today, seeking to know about our culture and nature of our race;

Imagine you were chosen to talk to them.

If you were religious, would you try and tell them that your god created them.

Since you claim he created the universe, he must have made them too, right?

What if these aliens were a atheistic scientific race, having long abandoned religion as a childish notion?

Would you still try to pursue your claim, even at the cost of making these aliens angry?

Hypothetical situation, I know.
But I want to see how dedicated some are to the god idea.

And thanks for taking part! :goodjob:

I would ask them why the Universe was created first, at least.

If they don't know, and if I was religious, I would try teaching them religion.

How much more is there to elaborate on, Curt? I would try to teach them, as I would like to beleive that God loves all intelligent life.

How wonderfully 'human' of you Plexus.

What if they informed you that your notions of the divine were borne from a primitive planet-bound mind?

You made the first move and insulted thier more advanced intellect...

Don't you think your reasoning is a bit...arrogant?

And they weren't arrogant? After all, they're supposedly much smarter than I, a stupid Terran with primitive beliefs.

This illustrates the point of this thread perfectly!

You made the first move by claiming these aliens are in need of your dogma.

When refuted, you feel threatened and accuse them of insulting you.

Now you heap blame on them for the whole incident!

What does this tell you?

They made the first move, coming to Earth in the first place. If they're so interested in Terran culture, the least thing they can do is listen to what you have to say.

That aliens don't like being wrong!

Foolishness.

It tells us that your mindset is one that causes war.

What if you went out to space and seen that multitudes of alien cultures exist, religious ones, athiest ones and those who are in between.

And none give a darn about your ravings about your planet's god.

Would this annoy you?

Is it the place of Plexus to try and convert them?

Plexus, what if they told you the answer?

What if they said 'we made it'?

According to the Bible, it is my place.

@polymath- Hmmm, I don't recall ever saying that...

Plexus, if the bible told you to saw your arm off would you?
You must realise, you are not centre of the universe.

Disappointing, eh?

Well, the Bible would never tell me to saw my arm off, if it did, I would have never accepted Christianity, because that is not the God I know.

I realize I am not the center of the universe, that would be God.
