Imperium Off Topicum: High Fantasy(IOTHF)

Speech at the Grand Palace of Atlanto:

Something is not right in this world.

The city of Zelian has been destroyed by the deadly fire plague, something that the Mermen have been immune to for centuries. The only other grand city of the Mermen has been destroyed, many have died a horrible and torturous death, including my dear cousin.

Something is wrong. Magic is out of balance. How can the realm's grandest ship be destroyed by fish heads, only to appear the next day with it's cargo of gold turned into onions? Why do our priests and priestesses claw their eyes out while trying to lead prayer? What foul magic caused all of the women in Old Port City to give birth to quintuplets?

There is only one explanation to this. The Dark Lord, or something very similar, has returned, it's vile power corrupting the land. We, the last of the Mermen, cannot stand idly by while the world falls apart at it's seems. We must act.

~Fredrik III deNeptunus

I will get orders in a few hours.

Why is the thread so quiet?

What is there to talk about? The only diplomacy that has actually occurred in the thread recently was because Ailed insisted, and that just degenerated into us butting heads for a while.

DT

Will likely get them in tonight.

Missing orders from:

Veterisneg(Redspy)

Rakarn League(Leccy)

The Unenlightened(Nuke)

Korea-Japan(BRFC)

Steel Axe Clan(Everblack)

Apologies for the LOONG delay, but I've been babysitting my nieces and nephew all week and working with my girlfriend, who's going through a pretty rough time.

No orders updates will now be accepted unless you receive a PM requesting clarification. The listed players above will be processed for sure if they get orders in ny 12:00. Beyond that, no guarantees.

Anyone taking dragon is awesome IMO. Everyone should do that.

It seems as if the Fae and Evlen peoples are not very popular.

Dwarven Dragon and Human are perhaps the second tier after lizardmen.

But for me I picked my race based upon one simple reason:
"But I'm just... A gnoooooooooome."

Nice to hear someone still plays Majesty.
there's also an online text-based browser game based on it.

Might join as The Somalian Dragons Confederation, in Somalia-Ethiopia. ( Dragon + lizardmen.)

Turn 3 - 1003

Brazil and Nation of the Clouds have been WoG'd. Korea-Japan will be WoG'd next update if BestRFC does not get orders in.

In North America, one of the Banelands' Ring Forges is attacked by a strange figure in a black cloak. Their defensive agents engage the attacker and he is driven off, losing his sword in the process. The sword is made of a strange black material that causes extreme burning pain to anyone who touches it with their bare hands. It fairly reeks of dark magic - draw your own conclusions.

In Europe, clashes between Albion and the Necrocracy over the Azores remain peaceful, but when Albion troops enter Normandy, Regina forces launch an ambush. Despite heavy odds, the Albionese forces defeat the Necrocracy's elements and send them back to Alsace-Lorraine in defeat. Who knows if war will come of this? Meanwhile, the Sorceress arrives in the Necrocracy, urging them to prepare for the Dark Lord's eventual return and offering her services. Meanwhile, the Thirteen Citadels seize Svalbard, destroying a claiming force sent from the Necrocracy. Taestria catapults itself to the highest order of power in Europe, controlling most of the southern European lands.

In Asia, the Unenlightened and the Vsardom draw swords. The Unenlightened launch sweeping offensives across the front - and so does the Vsardom. Goblin clashes with goblin, and dwarf with gnome, as battle rages across the world's largest continent. When the dust settles, the Unenlightened seizes West Siberia - but the Vsardom has drafted all the suitable population and withdrawn without losses. Meanwhile, Veterisneg seizes Sinkiang and Novosibirsk, cutting off Unenlightened access to their heartland and dooming the small strike forces that were repulsed by Vsardom home guards.

They will use their strength for ends not even the Wise truly know - and now is the time for their triumph. In any event, the omens are clear, and the clerics agree that Ahrengee’s favor rests with The Rakarn League! +10% Income OR Combat reward.

OOC: I was setting my troops to ward off other claims... I was thinking in terms of intimidation as oppose to fighting but o well: what done is done and the wording was my fault.

IC: By Baase we wish to announce that this border clash was not meant to be bloody. We set our legions to try to show power, not to cause war. Those who have leaded the attack will be set for questioning, at least to preserve the legacy of Scaanoar and Regina. In the mean time we will use the Azores to set outwards.

In relation we were not amused our claimant to Svalbard being stopped but in lights with the Azore and the likes of Poland now free to claim we are at a opportunity to grow our dark domain.

We greet the Sorceress. Dark tidings bless thee! We hope to consult ways to ensure the teachings of Scaanoar and Regina are spread out so that the so called "Dark Lord" will learn who is the most rightful to hold that title: Scaanoar when he awakes to resurrect the Undying Empire of Baase! In the end we will aid in your struggle the evil usurper that dares question the true followers of darkness.

Burwood, Burwood Province

Silence.
A slam.
A scream.
A roar.
The sound of a drakon's glands sparking and igniting a flame.
More screaming.
Silence.

-----

A courier drayk frantically flew into Akhari Blaze's chamber in Burwood, shouting, "Leader Akhari! Leader Akhari!"

The drayk's shouts broke Akhari's trance-like state, and the drakon grew irritated at this interruption. He rose, breaking out of his meditation. "Yes?"

The drayk stopped to catch his breath. "Urgent news. There has been an assassination attempt on Ghaldring."

Akhari's eyes glowed bright red, and sparks appeared at the back of his throat. "Lead me there," he growled.

-----

Ghaldring's sleeping chambers in his house were a mess. there were scorch marks all around the room, a body with a knife in it, a second body that was seriously burned, and a larger mess than normal for the newly appointed Steward of Taestria. Ghaldring strode through his room as if nothing had happened, working away at running the nation's finances.

Akhari asked, "Surprise guests in the middle of the night?"

Ghaldring nodded, his eyes darting across calculations. "Indeed. He needed some cooking done for him, buy I guess I did it a bit too well..."

Akhari smirked. "What do we know about the assassin?"

"Quite a lot, considering his current...state." Ghaldring turned towards the not-so-charred body, and pulled the dagger out. It seemed puny when it barely extended beyond the length of a talon. "Puresteel blade. I know of only two sources in the world for this, and one happens to be in Poryphra Province. That one is sealed off, and only accessible to make weaponry for the drakons."

"And the other?" Akhari inquired.

"In the Greyghost Mountains." Ghaldring's face implied what he meant.

"So it was either one of us, or the Unenlightened." Akhari's eyes faintly glowed a reddish color.

Ghaldring solemnly nodded. "The former is factored out. Salassar is the only being in this world who could want me dead, and he would never be so low as to use an assassin. He's going to challenge me one of these days, I swear."

"And you are sure that the Shapers are all dead?" Akhari seemed worried at the prospect.

"Indeed. I made sure of that." A new drakon entered the scene, almost invisible until he entered the light.

"Ah, Spymaster Chon-Rhyss. Welcome," Ghaldring stated to the newcomer. "I assume you got the message I sent."

The spymaster nodded. "Indeed. I will investigate this, and then report to the council meeting tomorrow."

"Very well then. I will leave you to it." Akhari Blaze bowed, and left.

-----

Southforge Citadel, Burwood Province

Akhari strode into the Council Room, flanked by two drayks in gilded armor. "Osissess, Ssaroyen, you are dismissed." The two drayks left him, and waited outside the door. With the influx of new provinces, the size of the council had drastically increased. Seventeen other drakons stood in the room, chatting about various things. Akahri tried to draw their attention, and only got the attention of Salassar after three tries.

Salassar immediately roared, and the whole room fell silent. "Thank you, Representative Salassar," Akhari nodded. He walked to his platform while talking. "Welcome, representatives, to the fourth official Council meeting." As usual, the drakons wandered to their platforms. "To begin, I would like to first introduce our new Steward, Ghaldring, who was taught by the Sorceress herself. He will be helping organize our economy and spending. Also, Chon-Rhyss, a new representative and veteran of the Rebellion, is our new Spymaster. I personally saw the things he organized during the Rebellion, from as small as ambushes to as large as The Dillame Uprising." Mentions of that event caused murmurs through the room in remembrance of the event. "He will organize our intelligence operations and investigations. Speaking of, I direct this towards him for the most important thing that has happened in the last 48 hours."

Chon-Rhyss bowed. "Thank you, Leader Akhari. Early yesterday morning, as we all know, there was a failed assassination attempt on Ghaldring. My operatives have been working on tracing certain artifacts, and almost every one points to the lands of the Unenlightened. There is a high chance that it was one of their agents."

"A chance?" Salassar interrupted. "What is the other possibility then?"

"Shapers," Chon-Rhyss stated. "But I highly doubt any escaped. First, there were no traces of Shaper essence on his body. Second, I highly doubt any Shapers survived. We killed every one of them, to make sure that their kind never rises again."

"Then I guess we have no choice," Akhari sighed. "I propose a Declaration of War upon the Unenlightened, for infringement upon the honor and attempted assassination of a Representative of the Imperial Republic of Taestria, and for claiming former Shaper lands which are rightfully ours."

Every drakon voted aye, even Salassar.

"It is settled then," Akhari stated. "Send a courier drayk to the Unenlightened, informing them of our declaration of war. Send courier drayks to each of our allies, all across Europe, to each province, and to Veterisne, informing them of the news."

"Veterisne?" Ghaldring asked, curious.

"Yes. I have been in contact with their leader about their situation," Akhari explained.

"As you wish," Ghaldring nodded.

"I think that wraps up the majority of the meeting. Karikis, Salassar, Chon-Rhyss, please meet me in the map room for further planning. Otherwise, this Council meeting is over, barring any new updates."

The drakons slowly filed out of the room. All that was left were shadows.

And a man.

He swiftly and stealthily left.

-----

The Red Flagon, inside Burwood

A man in a dark blue cloak sat in the corner of the inn, mostly hidden in the shadows. Soon, another man, this one in a dark red cloak, appeared with two flagons of ale. The crimson-clad man asked, "Care for a beer?"

Remembering the code words, the man in a blue cloak nodded and replied, "Only if you're paying, Alwan."

Alwan set the flagons down, smirking beneath his hood. "They suspect nothing, Crowley."

The blue-clad man sounded shocked. "You're joking!"

"Nay, Crowley," Alwan continued to smirk. "I just listened to their whole Council meeting. It's a shame that Shaper Mars died and failed, but our essence-obscuring worked, and the clues we intentionally left worked. War with the Unenlightened."

Crowley barely restrained himself from cheering. "Perfect! Now we can remove the second biggest threat to complete annihilation of the Shapers, distract the biggest threat, and regain everything that we hid in the Greyghost Mountains!"

Alwan raised his flagon. "To Mars, and for the Empire."

Crowley echoed the statement, and drank half the ale in his glass. "Good stuff. Now, I will go inform the rest of the men, and start preparations. Until tomorrow, Alwan," Crowley saluted as he walked away from the table and strode out into the night.

Alwan finished his ale, and soon followed, heading towards his own home.

The Empire will live, he thought happily.

We do not want conflict; hence a payment is not necessary. We have already provided you payment by the lose of Normandy. The Azores is already claimed by us fully: it is now part of our dark nation and threatening our link to the Atlantic would be aggression. We are not admitting a wealthy power and hence need as much income as possible to enhance our station.

That said we take this as a opportunity of payment: we will have more than navies and we are in need to go domestic while expanding our borders. As we prepare our claimant we offer to loan you a tier two army, still supplied by us and to remain in our supply limit, to you for a year. This will be a show of valour and a way of military learning. Consider this mercenary work as a way to provide you more than a single income.

You wont's need the one income when you have a loan of skeleton warriors, never fearing what will be set against them.

Of course we will wish to call them back to Regina after their service with you but then we should be able to talk less of strict terms disagreed over and more on economic policies to help prepare us for the return of Scaanoar.

May the visitor in our realms ensure peace in this end.

Albion finds this acceptable.

Regina wishes to declare that it has set a loan of a army to King Wessex for the sake of the kingdoms in his union.

We also declare that in recruiting a new army to replace one of our fallen we will strive to claim Poland and Columbia to try to help our economic condition.

We declare this to avoid future conflict over land.
