Imperium Offtopicum: The Aftermath

Letters from the Hetmanate

To the Republic of Scotland

Given Scotland's interest in studying the contamination in its periphery territories, the Hetmanate proposes joint co-operation between your scientists and NLLP researchers. We can provide special military units to escort teams in dangerous areas, and are willing to negotiate open borders on this subject.

Scotland accepts the proposal.

From Brimstone and Ashes pt. 2

Following victory in Britain, there was a sense of tension. Britain evolved into a loose confederation of its former colonies of Holland, the Falklands, Australia, and Indonesia. It was obvious that they would try to take the home islands again. It was decided that in order to prevent this, KNE had to act. Thus, a KNE air blitz occurred over the Lowlands. Bombers blew the Dutch to kingdom come, while Aircraft Carrier's wings prevented Britain from doing anything. In 1 month, all of the Lowlands was either in KNE hands or about to become so. The world watched in either awe or horror as New England showed that a new age dawned for them.

While no longer the superpower of old, its continued existence was guaranteed. But they were still foreigners in a foreign land, and New England needed to realized that they were now basically a European nation in all but name. The capitulation of Holland, however, marked the end of the Age of Brimstone and Ashes, the period between the initial landings at Wales to the previously mentioned event. It was marked with constant warfare (Brimstone) and an uncertainty that the entire nation could collapse with one small move (Ashes).

It is generally agreed by scholars that George D. Sherman was the reason this nation stayed together. His military prowess, combined with his aggressiveness, kept the nation alive in its twilight. He is still currently the leader of the nation, being just as good as he was then.

Modern Times

The greatest issue of today for New England is Portugal. The Portuguese dictator found offence that the KNE refused to recognize the state, and demanded that they do so. The Marians then took this as a "KNE plot to take over Portugal", but said that they would stay out of it. When KNE stated that previous laws made by New England state that Portugal is part of the country, they then rambled on how poor and no one speaks English there (Being ignorant on New English policies toward Portugal. Read chapter "The Stand-Off" for more details on why the comment is false). The Marians then considered it a threat against stability, and promised to intervene for Portugal, failing to realize that it was Portugal who was picking for a fight.

Portugal, land of Aborrehents and idiot dictators

Also an issue is the French coastline. Sherman has ordered troops to land there in order to bring stability to the region. However, the mandate also laid claims onto the lands the peacekeepers on, calling England's historical titles to the land. No nation has laid similar claims anywhere in France.

The nations of Sri Lanka, Sudan, and Somaliland have formed together and formed the Indian Ocean Defense Union, a three-way alliance between the nations. We will share trade and military programs with the combined interest of our three nations.

Lately, the German Republicans have undertook their own research into the contamination in it's homelands in the hopes to one day decontaminate the land to restore it to it's former glory. The German Republicans also extends an invitation for other nations interested in studying the nuclear contamination. The Foreign Ministers hopes that this would be the first steps since the nuclear catastrophe into foreign affairs.

What were the Abhorrent? How was it that they could survive in the irradiated territories where normal humans could not? Were they normal humans who had found a way to survive in the wastelands, or were they a horrific mutant race, created as a result of the nuclear wars? They were organised, suggesting an element of intelligence. They were brutal, suggesting a lack of empathy.

More research needed to be carried out. Studies into abhorrent group behaviour beyond Scotland would be crucial - was the behaviour observed simply limited to abhorrent groups in Scotland, or did they follow a similar pattern across the world? The possibility that the abhorrent were a completely separate form of intelligent life represented world-changing implications. If they were more than feral human beings, then what right would humanity have to destroy the ‘wastlelands’ they thrived in.

At the very least, there was hope that Scotland was not alone in its desires to research further the results of the catastrophic nuclear war. Private communications with Germany, and an open agreement with the Hetmanate formed the basis of a joint international effort into scientific research into the irradiated zones.

Parliament of Norway Building, Oslo, now simply ‘The Storting’

The former parliament building of Norway now had a new purpose - it was to serve as the base of operations to oversee all efforts into the irradiated territories. Administrated by the Scottish Remnant, but open to scientists of all the world nations.

Scottish Orders
No Claims, as per our announcement

Diplomacy:

To All: The Storting Building has been reopened as a scientific centre into the study and analysis of the irradiated zones and the creatures that thrive there. We welcome all science groups from any nation to establish themselves there, and work together in the interest of reversing the horrors of the nuclear war, under the protection of a completely neutral nation.

Please be aware however, that for the time being the Scottish Remnant retains full administration duties for the project. Should multiple nations join however, we are open to creating a more democratic process into the scientific ventures.

The Federation has dug into the old research files of the Neo Incans and their Marian successors. Information is obviously quite extensive on Kaetif genetics, and the Federation is studying it, trying to find what gives the Kaetif resilience to radiation compared to humans. Kaetif who have donated their bodies to science are also being used in this pursuit.

It is believed that, if the studies go well, this can be exported to other nations, and thus allow humans, in time, to be able to survive the Yellow Zones as well, which would improve prosperity for everyone.

Speaking of radiation, the Federation is of course willing to participate in the various nuclear research programs around the world, to try and find solutions. It hopes its independent research programs will turn up results; the land available to all sentient beings would grow enormously if the Kaetif's immunity to low levels of radiation could be somehow replicated.

Another question that is being studied, with willing live participants, is the differences between the natural Kaetif that existed in the Neo Incan land... and those created by the nuclear interchange, if there are any to be found.

Somaliland would like to exchange ambassadors with Sri Lanka and Sudan, and would encourage those two to do so with eachotehr.

Somaliland would also like to create Sri Lankan and Sudanese embassies in Somaliland.

Macedon would like the Marians to know that we're entirely human and living in yellow zones.

The Eastern Federation would be honored to send some of its finest scientists and minds to the Sorting Building.

We believe what the Marians and Scottish Remnant are fine examples of what humanity should be doing in the now, instead of the old bickering and fights of the past.

Ah, but humans have a much harsher life in Yellow Zones than the Kaetif do, do they not...? :p

You're assuming we suck at building underground. :p

Grey provinces are the CSA. Or Sinkiang. But they're confined to Sinkiang, so it's pretty easy to distinguish between them.

Should Scotland wish to conduct research expeditions into the wastelands of Sweden, Scotland and/or Ireland, the Hetmanate can offer the services of the First Kaetif Regiment in security duties. This unit may continue to draw widespread disapproval from numerous countries, but its loyalty is unquestioned, its training is first-rate, and it may prove especially handy in such heavily-polluted zones.

A Note On Diplomacy
"Ambassadorial exchanges" are posted as a placebo pending any further relations, when two states have acknowledged each other on cordial terms. If, however, players would like to keep a permanent record of embassies (and quintuple the length of the diplomacy post), I can modify.

Oh. Disregard my offer for ambassador swapping, then, Sri Lanka & Sudan.

After a contentious debate in the Parliament, Kashmir can announce that it must politely decline the offer of a defensive alliance from Macedon. We are not ready to commit to such an arrangement at this time but we appreciate the Macedonian offer.

Aighty.

(This is because I nuked you, isn't it?)
