The Kingdom of Konchasa would like to offer trade agreements with the following nations:

- Greater Sudan
- Somaliland
- Macedonia
- West African Alliance
- West Coast Commonwealth
- Zulu Confederation
- Federation of the Savannah
- Alliance of North African Independents
- North African Trading Alliance

Accepted

Mighty Somaliland accepts your trade offer.

@Scotland: Are you interested in Open borders with Vermont? My people are starving and need to know.

Accepted.

The Zulu Confederation never really expanded due to its introverted and slightly unhealthy focus on its mineral and gem mines. Approximently 90% of the population works in the mines,w ith 9% providing all the food and the remainign 1% in the army. Most of its weapons are imported from other countries, but its riches makes it easy to do so.

However, it once again seeks to expand, if only a little but. The original Lake Victoria Mine finally payed out, and nearby mines have veins which extend across borders. with a brief mobilization they hope to establish new, defendable borders before returning to their mines.

To Germany: Although Petrograd does not see Germany as part of its bloc it is nonetheless willing to engage in diplomatic initiatives with its Western neighbour. As such, Petrograd would like to open some cities to German investment to foster cordial relations. Would this be acceptable?

Certainly :).

This is just so I can keep tabs on who's joined the Oslo lab and the Sorting Project. Scotland sends its thanks.

Spoiler :
The Eastern Federation would be honored to send some of its finest scientists and minds to the Sorting Building.

We believe what the Marians and Scottish Remnant are fine examples of what humanity should be doing in the now, instead of the old bickering and fights of the past.

Kashmir will send scientists to Oslo as well. The team will be headed by Dr. Muhammad Khoddam, an Iranian-born chemist who've led research into wasteland reclamation in eastern Iran.

Sri Lanka will send the physicist Dr. S R D Rosa, who is a specialist Nuclear Physic, To Oslo with his team.

The WAA government sends scientists to the Oslo Research Lab, and encourages others to do the same

Umm.... ....Germany would like to send it's scientists to the Oslo labs as well as join it. Somehow I have a feeling it was overlooked since Germany has expressed interest in this feet to rid the world of this radiation in the previous post. :(

Portugal, too, would also like to send its scientists to the Oslo labs to study the radiation that is wrecking our homeland.

Should Scotland wish to conduct research expeditions into the wastelands of Sweden, Scotland and/or Ireland, the Hetmanate can offer the services of the First Kaetif Regiment in security duties. This unit may continue to draw widespread disapproval from numerous countries, but its loyalty is unquestioned, its training is first-rate, and it may prove especially handy in such heavily-polluted zones.

At present we'll thank you for your offer, and keep it in reserve. Given the possibly controversial use of Kaetif populations, I believe the members of the Sorting should discuss such use when it is established. We shall inform you later.

OOC: I haven't even decided the Scottish Remnants opinion on the Kaetif's. Given the response to the Sorting Project, I'll create a user-group later that can allow such a discussion.

Similarly:

I'm not sure this will be necessary. This is a science project, not a dungeon.

@Scotland: Are you interested in Open borders with Vermont? My people are starving and need to know.

Yes, certainly. Civilian, trade and transport vehicles may enter Scottish territory. We also offer access to certain ports to allow Vermont to conduct trade with the international community, and, should Vermont wish, a full trade agreement with Scotland. We have very little to offer, given the crisis, but will do what we can.

OOC: I completely didn't notice how Vermont was a different colour from Canada, or I would have offered sooner.

The Kingdom of Konchasa would like to offer trade agreements with the following nations
Federation of the Savanna: While we appreciate your offer, we must decline at this time as we cannot guarantee a secure overland trade route.

Alliance of North African Independents: We regret to say that our commercial capacity is limited, and trade over such a long distance is unlikely to provide a worthwhile return for its operational cost.

Since I have battle plans and orders from most of the players, barring any rapid and major developments in the coming hours I'll look at updating tonight.

Edited in - I should have remembered you told me on steam. I have a terrible memory :)
OOC: Note to self. Post up Steam chat logs for any IOT related chats :p ;).

Spoiler :
Anti-Kaetif anarchist dies in prison

PETROGRAD: Eva von Liewitz, notorious anti-Kaetif polemic and anarchist, died yesterday in prison at the age of 68.

Born in Germany, von Liewitz rose to fame as the author of Nicht ein Unfall ("Not an Accident"), in which she asserted that the Marians had designed the Kaetif as "post-apocalyptic shock troops" to overthrow the surviving nations and usher in a one-world government.

She claimed that Kaetif radiation resistance was evidence of the plot, allowing them to settle lands that had forced out the remaining humans.

"Are we to believe such complex and comprehensive mutations occurred by accident in a nuclear crossfire?" she asked. "The Marians had this planned all along. The Kaetif are sleeper agents."

Although universally debunked by scientific studies, the book was widely published, and is believed to have fomented anti-Kaetif sentiment in countries ranging from Asia to the Americas.

Von Liewitz also repeatedly attacked the German government, deriding it for "abandoning the homeland" in the wake of the war. Declaring the German heartland its "own nation", she attempted to organize armed resistance when the government returned from Africa, but the movement was half-hearted at best and was no match for the Bundeswehr.

When central authority was restored, von Liewitz spent her time regularly in and out of prison until she finally attempted to flee to Petrograd. She was arrested for illegally entering the country and incarcerated on charges of "conspiracy to disrupt the public order". Germany never sought extradition and she spent the remainder of her life in foreign prison.

Liewitz's death is believed to be of natural causes. Habitation in heavily-contaminated lands without proper filtration equipment and her own vitriolic lifestyle had degraded her health, although prison authorities did not think she was in desperate need of permanent medical support.

Marian Federation

Claims:

-3 Congo territories
-1 microstate next to the Congo (.5)
-1 microstate near Cape Verde (Nouakchott; 1.5 points due to DP)

Domestic News

While the state has denied that the Kaetif were ever intentional (as much as the Neo Incans would have loved an expansion of their race) it has expressed condolence at Eva von Liewitz' death.

The people, however, have naturally rejoiced at her demise, considering her a major contributor to Kaetif issues around the globe.

So far, the investment in new settlements seems to be warmly-received. The expansion of Marian Blue Zones is helping the economy and in turn, promising security and prosperity for Kaetif everywhere. At the rate things are going, the Social Nationalist party of Sombra de Mar will surely win re-election.

Scientists continue their research on the Kaetif Genome project, which is meant to map out genetic differences between humans and the Kaetif, and try to find a way to give humans the same immunity that their furry cousins enjoy.

What few scientists can be spared have been sent off to Scotland to assist in its radiation project, though the primary focus of state reserach is on renewable energy and the Kaetif Genome Project.

Diplomacy

The Marian Federation is eager to establish trade agreements with all African states; the resources every African state possesses are immense, and if trade allows their exploitation, Africa can become the heart of civilisation, as it was millennia ago.
