No - he lives in Western Germany (in Düsseldorf) since he was a 2 years old child.

He was born in Opole Silesia in the city of Kędzierzyn-Koźle to mixed Polish-German parents.

He sings that his grandfather was forcefully conscripted to the Wehrmacht (as many Polish Silesians, by the way).

Poles - deserters and POWs - from the Wehrmacht were the main source of replacements for the Polish Army in the West.

In 1st Polish Armoured Division, which fought in Normandy in 1944, served many veterans of Afrika Korps captured in Tunisia in 1943.

In "Band of Brothers", in one episode you can see Germans who claim they are "Polnisch" when surrendering, to avoid getting shot at the spot.

However, those particular Germans were in the SS - not in the Wehrmacht - so they were not Polish, as wise Americans also figured out:

Yeah Kult and Kazik are awesome ! I love "Czterej Jeźdźcy" and "Czarne Słońca" and of course both songs named "Polska" and a song named "Wódka" :D It's not metal but I would not name it punk rock either ;) It's a very unique kind of music imho ;) I'm not much of a fan of Acid Drinkers but from polish bands You might want to try "Thy Disease" (If You liked Behemoth) :

Ruś = Ruthenia (which is the medieval state that gave birth to Ukraine, Belarus and Russia)

Ruski (plural: Ruskie) = Ruthenian, but also a pejorative term for Russian, but also (but less so) for Ukrainian and Belarusian too. It is an adjective, but sometimes it's used as a noun, but only as a racial slur. But, note, in relations to medieval Ruthenia. ruski adjective is not used for people (while it is used for other things)!

Rusin = Ruthenian, but as a noun - an ethnic Ruthenian of Middle ages. but also Rusyn, a member of small Ruthenian nationality of Carphathia region.

Rosja = Russia

Rosyjski = Russian

also, there are racial slurs, such as kacapy, and historical terms, like Wielkorus, Małorus, Białoruś, Białorusin, Ruś Czerwona, Ruś Czarna, Ruś Zakarpacka etc.
 
If you resurrected this thread, then let me ask what do you think about Donald Tusk becoming the new European council president, while Ewa Kopacz (surname means "Digger") becoming the new Prime Minister, and Cezary Grabarczyk ("Undertaker") becoming the new Marshal of the Seym?

Do you think that a combo of Digger + Undertaker is going to dig a grave and bury this country inside?
 
I gave search for the word girls and found no posts. 14 pages! And 11 posts mentioning food :)... Anyways, here is question for a thoughtful Pole -- why is it in Russian uroda means ugly, but in Polish it means beauty?
Both words allude to common Slavic root describing "born that way" :mischief:

when I think uroda. I also think urodzaj, which is fertility of crops :) Perhaps it has something to do with it

Net search says that there's no uroda in Russian, just urod, which means extremly ugly.
Perhaps it has to do with Polish wyrodek, which means someone "born out of". So wyrodny syn means "a son who was born inside of family, but he acts like he was not, mistreats his father".

Apparently there are more words like this, f.e. Polish "remember" means "to forget" in Russian. Or the other way round, Polish "ask" means "to torturę" in Russian etc.
 
wyrodek is a pretty rude way to say degenerate in Russian. East and West Slavs parted ways early but always stayed in "touch", so perhaps all those antonyms developed from that "touch" :high5:

And that's how the great Polish-Russian conflict began..
