Improving on Monarch level

The HE city Haithabu is supposed to keep production high and doesn't want to hire specialists, right? Pangaea mentioned that. Also note that Haithabu currently has 86/200 great person points for an engineer from the Pyramids. I guess we don't want to pollute this pool with a scientist (if we are interested in an engineer at all during the game and if we have a chance at all to get an engineer born when we create lot of other GPs before).

You'll create so many GPs in the near future, that that GE has no chance of spawning with the costa becoming higher and higher. But it's good, that that city already has 86 pints, because I eas afraid that we wouldn't be able to completw the GP from it.
And yes, the HE city can work only the Cows, the Copper, the Stone, reat doesn't matter. You can work 2 cottages from the capital while the capital doesn't work them. Just make sure that the capital geta both Corns to higher as many specialists as possible.

What about the green hill mine? I could run cows, copper, stone, mine and 2 cottages with stagnating city growth and high production. The city would then produce 4 catapults in 7 turns. That is without any specialists but 9 GPP from HE and Pyramids.

Haitabu was btw. planned to work merchants, don't overlook such small but very important details!

You mean Birka (= Crabs/Sheep city), right? And that I didn't overlook... :)

Wait, the HE city has the Mids? Can you let it run Merchants instead of the cottages of would it lose pop 'til the end of the GA?
If the city makes 3 :gp: , it will produce GP sometime, lets fasten it up :) .

Monty's grave was btw designated to get the MOAI statues. Build the theater later and MOAI first, should go in an ok time with Stone. After the GA, we can also whip the theater with OF into MOAI to fasten it up even more.

With 2 Merchants and without cottages Haithabu would shrink after 5 turns. With 1 Merchant and 1 cottage the population will survive the GA. So, I assign 1 Merchant, OK? Do you want to get a specific great person out of Haithabu, a Merchant or at least NOT a scientist (to have 2 different GP types for the next GA?) or why do we hire a Merchant and not a Scientist?

Yes, I had Moai on the plan after the theatre. I assumed getting the 6 theatres for the Globe Theatre has priority. I've put Moai now on top of the queue (after 1 turn of culture). Takes 42 turns now but after border push I get a mine workable and it should become faster.

Just noticed that we construct MOAI in 3 further cities for massive Failgold, so build it in Montys grave, and once it is 1T before complete, take it out of the queue and do the same in the 3 mentioned other cities. When we need Gold, we'll complete ot in Monty's Grave + get massive Failgold. Building National Wonders one can construct oneself once needed os even superior to building WWs for Failgold. MOAI is one of the few Stone-enhanced builds, so it's perfect for our situation.

The Merchant is only so that we don't get a Scientist from it. We need 2 different sort of GPs for ghe next GA. Your plan is good, so do it.

Regarding Resource trade: You should always trade the AIs you got open borders with all resources that you don't need, to get the +2 diplo bonis. Trade something to Mansa, trade stone to ramesses for GPT + Dyes, look if you can get Horses for Copper, thanwe could add 1 or 2 fast HAd to your stack, whi h can work for Surveillance and Worker capturing.

Hell, what tricks are this! You don't need to explain it, I understand the plan (I believe). I'm just wondering and admiring how someone can ever come up with such a sophisticated idea! :) But don't we waste too many hammers when we half-build Moai in 3 other coastal cities? Or is the amount of failgold independent of the hammers invested in a wonder? Is failgold generally more than the hammers produced into wealth directly?

1 :hammers: = 1 :gold:

However: Having Stone doubles our hammers
Running OR gives another 25% extra.

So with building MOAI for Failgold, we get more than twice as much as we'd get when only building wealth.

This is why it's so useful to build wonders for failgold if you have the +100% resource, and it's the same mechanic for national wonders. By (almost) building it in different cities, you can get back a lot of gold, which then helps you to research at 100% for longer.

But as always, there are priorities. More gold is nice, but if you need troops more during a war, then it may be better to build troops everywhere.

Just as an example, assuming you have OR and a Forge. Let's take 100 base hammers as an example.
Wealth: 100 :hammers: +25% (Forge) = 125 :gold: (You get nothing for OR)
Moai: 100 :hammers: +25% (Forge) +25% (OR) + 100% (Stone) = 250 :gold:

Ca-ching!!

In a competetive Space Race, the one that conducts more Beakers over time wins the 1st place. You probably already noticed, that we're doing very much that is not only war, war is something that is also important because more cities mean more power, but the greatest focus must be set on the economy. GPs, Failgold, buildings like Oxford, that's all for getting as many Beakers as possible to reach the end of the tech-tree as fast as possible.

Those tricks will help you in domination or conquest games also, so it's good if you learn them. Failgold through Wonders is a quite common one, but I also know tricks that less than 10 Players of this site know.

Ahaaaaa! But building Moai in the other coastal cities is something for later, at least not before we are back in OR, isn't it? Also I have those Trading Post-Lighthouses in production which seem to be quite important to me (food).

OK, my specialist assignment is now the following:

- Nidaros: 7 Scientists - shrinking in 10 turns, final GPP = 63 (will produce first Great Scientist in 2 turns)
- Uppsala: 5 Scientists - shrinking in 11 turns, final GPP = 45
- Haithabu: 1 Merchant - shrinking in 9 turns (+1 GPP from HE +2 GPP from Pyramids), final GPP = 18
- Birka: 5 Merchants - shrinking in 8 turns, final GPP = 45

Something to improve here? The last one shouldn't lead to pop loss because we are changing civics and turn down the specialists in 7 and not 8 turns, right?

:goodjob::goodjob::goodjob: would never have thought about generating failgold from a NW. Did not even know it was possible. Thanks!!
