Nation Name: The Empire of Ned
Government: Elected Dictatorship
Capital City Name and Type: Ruined City, The City of Ned
Background: The Empire of Ned was born out of the end of the Empire of Tom. The Empire of Tom, which was founded by the first survivor to leave the mine and shelter of the nearby Grayback Mine (Tom Yates was his name). As he ventured up to the surface, along with a small group of likewise adventurous followers, he set out to find what became of civilization on the surface. After a few days of hiking, he came across what we now know as The City of Ned, which at the time before the bombs dropped was known as Bahndorf. Tom, seeing the stretch of a vast, uninhabited city before him, immediately declared himself the leader of the city, and renamed it after himself.

Through strength, loyalty to his followers, and great charisma, he was able to forge a survivable city in the ruins of old Bahndorf. Travelers making their way to the City of Tom were greeted with, for the most part, hospitality and welcomed, though if the travelers appeared dangerous at all they were refused access to the city (or as much as the Tomites were able to control by setting up fences and roadblocks) and either proved their worth and trust to the citizens of Tom, were turned away, or shot.

So, as the story went along, Tom held regular elections every year, and each year he was was reelected by his now steadily growing population of loyal followers (it helped that Tom's name was the only one on the voter's pamphlets, though this seemed to not bother the citizens of Tom at all.) Eventually, however, Tom died after he came down with a rather bad case of pneumonia. Before his untimely death (at the age of 52), he proclaimed his eldest son, Ned (aged 30) with taking over leadership of the Empire of Tom, now renamed the Empire of Ned and the city's name changed to the City of Ned as well. For now, the citizens are happy, as Ned has continued to the responsibility of leading the great people of the Empire of Ned just as well as his father, Tom, led the people of the Empire of Tom, though with a larger population then that under Tom's rule, Ned has to come up with some decisions: spread out and start new settlements, or not.

((OOC: Sorry for the longish story))

Map: I circled Grayback Mine, originally planning to claim that as my starting point, instead I'd like to claim the city south west of it on the coast.

At the time of this posting all stats are updatd as is the political map on the first page. I have added a couple of sections within the rules. First, I've added the new Bazaar/Marketplace/Mine Expansions building for the capital city. This is to provide at least some possibility of economic growth to ruined cities. I have also made the "victory conditions" for the NES official. You can work together to destroy the Watchers first, or you can fight each other. Completely up to you.

What are the naval transport capacities?

Can any of the mechanized units transport infantry (say, Technicals...)?

Are cavalry really "cavalry" (fight ahorse), or "dragoons" (use horses for transport only)?

Should Elite Infantry be considered as special forces, or maybe something like Marines or Airbourne? Or are they just better-equipped "regulars"?

Can I assume that planes aren't going to be making an appearence (under our armies, anyway...)?

A History of the Legions and the resulting Orderset.

The Legions came into existence following the death of their former soldiers, The Legions could also be known among the older people that survived all the destruction of the last 50 years, as the Soldiers of Death. A Mercenary group that worked with various government agencies to carry out assassination orders, rescue missions, infiltration and extraction missions, and other missions that said nation did not want their own special forces involved with.

But with the death of the former soldiers who survived the wars that destroyed the world and escaped the watchful eyes of the Watchers by staying at sea in their Cargo ship. The heirs, or sons and daughters of these soldiers were raised from childbirth in fighting tactics and warfare. These young boys and girls are all that is left of a great military organization that put the fear of God in every Government Agency on Earth. With a new leader and a new name, The Legions plan to bring themselves back to the same level of fear around the world or even surpass it, but in recent letters from the outside world, shows that there are more than just other people, there are the Watchers.... a strange group of people or creatures that have far more firepower and weapons so advanced that the soldiers of Soldiers of Death feared that their own children may not be able to possess the skills or weapons to beat them.

As a result, they landed on an empty island to the south of the major island and sent a skeleton crew of sick and elderly people out to blow the ship and sink it. In their new base of operations they will prepare to meet the threat and gather enough resources and manpower to overcome the Watchers.

OOC Notes

I am sure that this is not quite the style of update from me that most of you are used to. I would like to reemphasize the fact that this NES focuses on killing things and gaming more than just the progression of events. Some minor changes are being added to the rules, including the introduction of the Irregulars, a Army unit which only costs population to build.

I hope to have at least three updates a week, as an NES of this style must keep moving. Therefore I set the next deadline at 7 PM EST on Friday. As with ABNW, the deadlines will remain on the top of the first page. The quicker a majority (not everyone, so be aware) of orders are put in, the quicker the updates will be done.
