In the year 2025, who will likely have the most posts?

There's a guy over at TrekBBS who passed 100,000 posts years ago
I don’t know how long they’ve been a member, but at 10 years that’s about 27 posts per day. Every day.

Doing quick calculations I’ve posted 191 times in the last 14 days. Another 100,000 in addition to my current count will mean I’ll have to post at this rate every two weeks for the next 20 years.

Ask me in 20 years if I did it.

Because 5 years is a lot of time, I would bet someone on the list who has stayed consistent and didn’t just disappear nor post too much all at once. Like @El_Machinae . Maybe @Kyriakos will keep it up though that seems very possible.

I misread the title as the year 2050.

Will the Civilization series continue another 30 years? At a rate of a new game approx. every five years we’ll be looking at Civilization XI.

Assuming we keep the numbering convention and not switch to something dumb like Civilization Returns, or worse, Civilizations.

As long as they manage to make a virtual reality Civ it will be a hit even in 2050s.

I miss Perfection.

Maybe since @Mise is around at the moment we can get an updated pic for Perfection's avatar :D

Read the ongoing game (we've broken the CFC posting record with some >5,000 posts).

Yes I saw it. And of course I will not be commenting on a game that is still in progress. Suffice it to say that my heart bleeds for you Takh, my fellow Englishman.

Don't see why not.
Games are a young medium but there are television and film franchises that have been around a long time.
Might be hard for someone who played Civ I then missed II-X to recognise XI as part of the same series.

Here is a list of the most prolific posters, atm: https://forums.civfanatics.com/members/

I think that, hopefully, it won't be me. I (can dream) will have an actual important career by then and will have fallen down to #3 or less :)

I think there are some candidates, maybe Warpus will take over for a while, but ultimately, in 5 years, I am not sure who will be #1. That said, it will be a great surprise if they aren't in the first 9 posters already...

A "dark horse," poster we have not met yet... :P

Not likely. Post count is built on two things: time here and regular posting. It is difficult to get to high numbers without both. Tim has shown us what can be done in relatively short time with steady posting in high count threads. For a "dark horse" (currently under 40,000 posts?) to catch up 15,000+ posts against an ever increasing goal would take a sustained, no lifer, posting style. I don't see it in those who might qualify for your dark horse candidate.

"No lifer"... Some people really put CFC down. Maybe some of us post out of sincere love for the community? :jesus:
The daily postcount needed by someone with less than 40k posts, to catch you and others who are over 50k would be pretty high and steady. Hence a "no lifer" in doing so. Someone could probably calculate the daily pc needed to catch you within 5 years given your posting rate.

You have been here since 2003; I have been here since late 2001. Longevity is a measure of dedication to the community. Rapid rises in pc measure daily time on task. There is no need to mix the two even if they are complementary. :)

There have been examples of people who came out of nowhere and had something like 20K posts in a couple of years. Though they later vanished. I am thinking of Borachio - he was a cool poster :)
Bozo_Erectus also was very active at some time, though probably with a lot fewer posts (and that was the stone age).

Perf has a RL now

and is into equipment design I think.
Independent medtech electrical engineer. If you want to make a medical device I'll put the electroguts in it. I don't exclusively do medical products, but it's like 80% medical.

We're not allowed to name other posters unless they've opted in, right?

Well, my guess is that a certain somebody who hasn't posted in a while and used to be #1 is training his children how to post effectively on here. In any number of years you will see a _______Jr account pop up on here and slowly rise in the ranks
