You should definately go with a pokemon.

If I do that, then...which one? There's 386 I'm willing to choose from (I'm ignoring 4th generation, since they just blew. I mean..'Chimchar', a fricking monkey on fire? What the hell? The only good one was Piplup, since they didn't have a penguin yet, but the name sucked balls) as a base. However, you can eliminate:
1) Pikachu (and all evolutions)
2) Eevee (and all...what? 20? of its evolutions)
3) Legendary Pokemon
4) Starters (excl. Charmander and up, those guys are beasts)
5) Any of the 'main' Pokemon in the series (i.e, those used by the main characters)
6) Anything stupid, like...Aipom or something. The ******** ones have to be eliminated.

That leaves..like 10 Pokemon.

Which is why I want to look outside that particular franchise.
