The problem with pony avatars is that everyone has the same pony, the Rainbowdash pony, and it becomes too difficult to tell them apart. Why not use one of the less colourful, but still perfectly valid ponies?

The problem with mine and doing that was that the base image is something like 900x800 pixels.
