INES II: Gone is the Old Guard

The Royal Republic of Iberia
iberiaflag.png

Government: Semi-Federal Liberal Republic
Democratically Chosen Co-Head of State (as of 2000): President Javier Solana (Iberian Party)
Hereditary Co-Head of State (as of 2000): Juan Carlos Alfonso Víctor María de Borbón y Borbón-Dos Sicilias, formerly known as King Juan Carlos I of Spain. Childless (although adoption is still possible).
Head of Government: Prime Minister Joaquín Almunia (Iberian Party)
Capital: Madrid
Coin: Ducado (a merge of the former Peseta and Escudo, named after the former coin of the Spanish Empire)
Official Languages: Spanish in the whole territory, Portuguese in former Portugal, Gallego in Galicia, Catalan in Catalonia, Comunidad Valenciana and Islas Baleares, Euskera in Euskadi and Navarra and French in Aquitania.
Territorial Organization: 23 Comunidades Autónomas, divided in 75 Provincias. Each Comunidad Autónoma (Autonomous Community) holds power over several matters such as healthcare.
History: Ever since it came independent from Castile in 1139, Portugal and what would later be called Spain have been separated. Apart from a relatively short period of time (between 1580 and 1640) in which both Portugal and Spain were joined on a personal union under kings Philip II and Philip III that ended in the restoration of the independent Kingdom of Portugal, both nations have faced each other in the Iberian Peninsula, have fought for building the biggest empire (with Spain clearly winning on that account) and losing it (again, Spain wins, having lost it, by pieces, between 1808 (the start of the Independence War against the French) and 1898 (the loss of Cuba, Puerto Rico and Philippines)), then falling under military dictatorships, and finally recovering the democracy. When the Iberian Party rose in both nations, most gave them a snowball's chance in hell of even surviving for more than 4 years, but surprisingly, and against all odds, the Iberian Party rose to power in both countries in less than 12 years, being then that a voting greatly favoured by the population of both nations (who was seeing how the world was getting screwed up with the USSR slowly crumbling and, although no one knew it, the USA doing the same) joined the two nations into the Royal Republic of Iberia. Being in a situation similar to that of Cold War Andorra (with two co-heads of state), one of the co-headship was given to beloved Spanish King Juan Carlos I for the great role he played in bringing democracy to Spain and then fighting against the depression the loss of his children caused on him and his wife, Sofia de Grecia. A one-and-a-half-year war with the Socialist Republic of France brought the Comunidad Autónoma de Aquitania to the nation, plus the French side of the Pyrenées, after the dramatical loss of the northern neighbours.
Current Allies: The Chicago Pact
Current Enemies: The Sultanate of Morocco, the Socialist Republic of France

Politics
Organization: Bi-cameral Parliament: The Congreso de los Diputados has 350 Diputados. The Senado has 100 Senadores.
Main Parties: Partido Ibérico (major party, left-wing, ruling since 1986 uninterrupted), Partido Socialista (major party, centre-left, a merge between the Portuguese and Spanish Socialists Parties), Partido Popular (major party, centre-right, borne out of the old Alianza Popular), Partido Comunista (minor party, ever since the SRF attacked in '91), several minor regionalist parties.

To Iberia
From China

Are you going to declare war on us because of our current war with ASEAN?

OOC: By the way, nice flag.

To: China
From: Pakistan

Due to your current war with ASEAN and our commitments to our Dar al-Islam friends, we would feel uncomfortable signing an alliance at this time. If East Asia were to calm down, we might reconsider.

OOC: Great facts on Iberia, Milarqui! I'll mention again that I really enjoy when you guys worldbuild. Really liked the Putin interview too, though I think I forgot to mention that when Karalysia posted it.

Don't forget about the deadline, those-who-have-not-sent-orders-yet. My 24 hour warning post got buried at the bottom of the last page.

EDIT: Also, Adrogans, you already fixed the France-Algeria thing.

From: The Indonesian Empire
To: ASEAN

We propose a temporary NAP due to the insanity of the Chinese forces.

To: Indonesia
From: ASEAN

We are happy to sign a NAP with you. Let's say three years, shall we.

Imago, is a small extension possible? I've been working on history projects all week, and I need to finish this story I wrote.

Ditto on certain counts. I can get them in by 21:00 GMT no problem but 20 is too close. Oy gevalt!

If you get orders to me a couple hours after the deadline, it shouldn't be a problem.

17/26 orders in.

Iberia 2002 World Cup

This is only a presentation of how the 2002 World Cup would be played out (and where) if Iberia is chosen.

34 National Teams distributed in 8 groups, 2 of them made of 5 teams and the other 6 made out of 4 teams.

14 Stadiums separated in 4 different regions to insure that all the stadiums are in a good state and to prevent the Teams from having to travel too much.

Deadline.

Those of you who have not sent orders yet, please do so quickly. I'm already working on the update.

That is correct. Of the people I know are online right now, I only do not have orders from Iggy.

I just finished my Chemistry Exam, and took time away from my English Exam studying (Exam in 2 hours) to send them. I hope I can be forgiven. :p
