Insomnia....

Stay awake until you're tired enough to sleep. Then get up the same hour as usual. Eventually, you'll end up having enough sleep to catch up that one night, you'll fall asleep immediately.

Failing that, try and sleep at the other end of your bed...

That actually does work for me! I dunno why, but it makes me very sleepy.

Worst comes to worst, I do some gentle yoga to relax. A plow pose usually does the trick. I enjoy doing this pose or this one is fantasic as well. :)

Basically, Xen needs to be more Zen. ;)

thnaks for the advice you guys :) I dont think I'll be havign a bout of insomnia tonight

(on a side note, I think if I tried that first pose you suggested Evie, I'd break myself :p)

If I tried the first pose, my stomach would suffocate me like a car airbag.

It's really not that hard. You can put a pillow where your feet land to make it softer on your back. It is very relaxing and you can change from that to a "choke pose" where you bend your knees by your head from the position you are first in. I do them all the time and it really helps me relax. :)

Try hunting for weapons of mass destruction. You'll get tired soon enough. :mischief:

In teenagers, insomnia may be caused by the last big twist of neurological development.

Otherwise, for myself, it's just going in circles. Not a repeating chain of thoughts, but a sort of orbit flirting high and low around something I must address but am avoiding. I can't sleep until I plunge into that toughie and resolve it somehow, even arbitrarily. The challenge for me is in sensing these subconscious irritants.

Oh, I see you've been listening to the White Stripes. :goodjob: But they are kind of loud to try to fall asleep to. Listen to their quieter songs or listen to quieter band to try to sleep to...

I dont listen to music to fall asleep to, I go to sleep when I get tired, problem was, I couldnt seem to get tired ;)

When I can't sleep, I prefer to embrace my insomnia, embrace the madness.

I fall asleep soon enough, but sometimes when I wake up, I'm lying in a pool of blood  Ok, so maybe it's not the best idea....

Having trouble sleeping, I usually go get a glass of milk, and put on some (soft) music to help me sleep.

Oh yeah, my troubles are usually being tired, but not able to sleep, not just not being tired.

After not being able to go to sleep for hours, at three AM I tried listening to a Coldplay song, "Clock". If that doesn't put you to sleep, nothing will.

That might work........ :D

Going for a walk helps, especially when it's cold outside but failing that, drinking yourself senseless tends to do the trick too (or so I'm told :mischief: ).

i usually do that too. I one time tried to make communism work, then when I got to what I though was a solution, I realized I had turned it into capitalism.
