I suppose as long as India is civilized, then I'll live.
Not all of it. Indus Valley naturally is, and its surroundings are.
Here is a topic, btw, on which I am worried - supposedly, rulers are often overthrown when they aren't careful and/or lucky, especially if they carry out policies unpopular amongst the ruling elite (or unpopular amongst the masses, if they continue them for long enough). Problem is, I am not sure how to represent that. Supposedly, I could just overthrow a ruler (the player remains in charge) and cancel the orders if that ruler is doing a lot of stupid stuff AND isn't killing off anybody who could try and move against him for that. Opinions?
I intend, btw, to divide the nations of the world into CULTURES, cultural groups. I.e., a Greek culture group, or a Chinese culture group, or a Western Catholic culture group, you get the idea, with their cultural stats (Religion, Preffered Government, Cultural Centers (for instance, for the Muslim culture it would be Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem, but also Baghdad and Cairo), Traits (isolationist, zealous, etc) and so forth) that will sometimes be changed as the times go (during BT). Some nations will not decisively belong to one culture, but rather, be influenced by different cultures. Nations from the same culture group could interact more easily; however, they will tend to be actually MORE hostile towards each other over the smaller differences (Catholics hated Hussites more then they did the Muslims; Ismailites hated Sunnis more then they did the Christians; etc). Their traits will influence their development, ofcourse. I will do all the Cultural stats myself, based on your stories and on common sense, taking into mind your complaints. What do you think?
IMHO the military model is fine as it is, only I will change the labels and maybe make the military growth less predetermined and more based on country population (i.e. China could muster more forces per eco. point then Armenia). I will ofcourse add lists of the sort of troops nations in specific cultural groups and tech ages will have. I am considering going towards the Stormbringer mode of economy, i.e. making it (sorry, Roddy) more "story-NES-like", or rather more individual. What I mean is, you can order to build more universities and temples and so on and invest a certain amount of money, and depending on it and on other things I will determine by how much will your education grow, if at all. Maybe.
Um, yes, those are my current unstructured ideas, but I would like to see your comments on them and suggestions for them.
