I'm getting this error when attempting to upload jpg files (screenshots). I've uploaded before so I know it works.

Edit: Okay, I was able to upload a saved game, but when I tried again with the screenshots I still got the same error. What am I missing?

Edit #2: I tried uploading a gif file and still got the same error.

was it <10MB?

Thunderfall - I'm sure that for the vast majority of users, the new file upload system is a plus. For the small group of succession game players, however, it's a huge downside. The way that the new upload server renames all files is a major pain in the behind. There is a workaround, "add a description for each file", but it requires typing in the name of each file individually, doubling the work required. And while 30MB is drastic overkill for the average user, that's only one or maybe two succession games for me (I take a lot of screenshots).

We've been taking up a disproportinate share of bandwidth and server space for a long time now, so I would understand if this move is designed to cut down on the load that succession games take up, but if it's not - we could REALLY use something more in line with the old system! :)

Also for your info, TF: the new uploads server renames all files to make them lowercase. Thus, a Civ4 savegame file (which starts as XXX.Civ4SavedGame) becomes XXX.civ4savedgame after being uploaded. But Civ4's save files are CASE SENSITIVE, and the program will not recognize a file with the lowercase version. That means that right now, every savegame file uploaded to the server is 100% useless until manually renamed back to its original form!

Even if nothing else gets done, I think that last point needs to be addressed, because it's confusing the heck out of people here.

Even though the system gives the files digital filename, you can still see the original file names in your list of files. Anyway, I have disable digital file names for now, but I may re-enable it again in the future since it is more secured.

For screenshots, you should upload some to ImageShack. This way you don't need to worry about deleting them. They allow you to link to the full image directly too using the last link they provide (so people don't need to visit their site to see the full image).

The new Easy Upload allows you to delete obsolete files yourself, so you can keep a few saved games for each SG and delete others you don't need. The old system leaves lots of obsolete files on the server.

Also, don't forget the forumm gives you 20 MB of attachment space too.

That is indeed confusing. I have changed it so it doesn't rename file names to lower case.

Question: Wasn't it possible for us to upload unlimited files with the old system, just that every file had to be smaller than 5 Mb? Cause in case I'm right then I liked the old system better. ( yeah I'm probably the first one to do so  - sorry - ) This is probably made to save server space, but just having it a litttle simplified doesn't compensate for me the fact that you could upload as much as you want.

Maybe I'm wrong. I'm just asking.

i like some features on the other system , such as the unlimited files, but i also like the new system much more. It provides a link, can upload to 10 mb, but the downside is there is a limit, oh well:mischief:

BTW, if modders want to use the Easy Upload to manage their mod files, I can easily add them to the exclusion list, which doesn't have the 30 MB quota.

Wow, and how do you choose who is on the list and who isn't (which of the modders? do they have to be active? Have a completed mod/scenario?)? What does he has to have done? :)

Too bad, it means I was right. :( Well, that's it, the good days of uploading as much as I want are over... Anyway, :D

Yeah, I feel your pain. 30mb is not enough.

Maybe it could be 1MB*postcount/100
