IOT Developmental Thread

GMing a complex and highly participated game like the IB series is quite the undertaking and probably couldn’t be easily done by someone without a ton of free time on their hands.

Oh definitely. As thrilled as I am to start MP2 in the future I get the feeling it will eat up time. I am hoping the fact I simplified several mechanics will make it a ton easier to calculate while still keeping the epic feel of the original.

If there's a simpler way to do any mechanic, I say go for it. It saves you time since even if players do a lot of calculations, you still double check them(Defeating the purpose), so simpler is almost always better.

I came crawling back because Enerjak damnit, I need my fix of needless simulated death and destruction.

You need to get into First/Third Person Shooters and some rounds of Skyrim :p.

I'm here for the sadism, personally. :)

But really, who -doesn't- get amused by the usual shenanigans that tend to ensue in IOTs? The game starts off sane for a few turns... then someone establishes themselves as an antagonist or starts a war for lulz, and the game goes downhill from there.
I don't, I just get annoyed by them.

We want you BOTH back. I do basically because I want to see how well you do fare now in these wild lands of IOT.

Oh, Zack! WoGed, you? Tsk, tsk. :nono:
Or even worse, RAGEQUIT??? :run:

Well... depends how you define finish.

I won a crushing victory in SoneRISK 2, but that wasn't an IOT. Tyo also finished his US IOT. I won that too.

You only won SonRISK 2 because JoanK betrayed us. And I&B finished, somewhat, as did Tyo's SAR.

Let's stay calm and civil and not start this all over again, shall we?

And CivO's game is gonna be awesome (although I expect quite complicated) :p

Well, obviously. Has any host besides Thorvald finished a game?

The first Mobius IOT ended in a rather hilarious manner as per the victory conditions. Controversial, but hey, it did.

I define MP to have ended, yet again due to a weak spot in the rules. At least it wasn't GM-guided this time! Once an IOT clearly skews towards a particular power I declare it over, personally. Everyone else was nuclear ash and GUNS dominated economically.

Overall this is why I like some sort of victory conditions; it means you can have a clear end and not "Some guy ate everyone else."

Let's list the other turning points, shall we?

-when I decided not to kill LH and give everyone else a sporting chance
-when I decided to invade China and pretty much help everyone
-my Xantos gambit (I surrendered to Spain and you guys conquered it a turn later)
-a turn where I think I didn't send in any orders
-a turn where Africa didn't send in any orders

To this day, I still don't understand why I was at war with Korea.
