Update 8 - 1758
Nationstats:
Provincestats:
Hindustan seizes Malaysia without incident in the first claim of the year. China quickly follows suit with Burma. The Silver Dome claims Hokkaido fairly easily. Romania-Yugoslavia claims the Southern Urals without a single loss.
Certain personages in the Dene lands are assassinated as the first months of the year drag on - no one can prove they were anything but honest men, but the suspicion is that they were killed by hostile spies. Further strengthening that impression, a Dene Regular and another Irregular have disbanded - random or sinister? It hardly matters in the face of the ten Iberian Regulars marching over the border into Alberta, led by a General. The Dene oppose them with three Irregulars and seven Regulars - outmatched, but perhaps not outfought? It seems the Dene general is craven - he withdraws at the loss of only one Irregular, defeating an Iberian Regular in the process. Now the Iberians stand at the gates of Alaska itself, threatening all the industry set up in the Dene heartland. How now will the men of power act?
A coup attempt in the CSA is resoundingly smashed by the Confederate Intelligence Division, which hangs
all the men responsible and publicly reveals their confessions - perhaps under torture? - to being sent by
The Cape Republic. Are the Dixies lying? Whatever the case, they cut trade with the Cape and declare the Caribbean to be restricted waters to the Cape's fleet, under pain of exchanging broadsides.
Romania-Yugoslavia decides to be rid of Poland-Lithuania's attacks and bombastic rants. A lightning drive into the Baltic States seizes it and obliterates the Polish defenders, but the true battle lies between three Regulars and an Irregular on the Romanian side, led by a General, and facing off against three Polish Regulars. With no sustained casualties, the Romanians roll over the Poles, storming Warsaw and waving their proud flag across all of old Poland-Lithuania. Another nation's era comes to a shuddering, bullet-riddled end.
The Celtic Union starts off by sending a team of Regulars to claim Denmark, but runs into a similar team from Romania-Yugoslavia, starting a three-way fight. Romania wins, neither side taking casualties as the natives are stomped. The Celts seize the Low Countries without undue difficulty, as the Merchant Republic moves its men out of the province to stand in Iberia and Southern France. The Celts send six Regulars into Spain, squaring off against one Regular and three Irregulars - what will happen? The Celts take Spain with no casualties, that's what! The Battle for France is also shaping, with nine Italian Regulars across the field from twelve Celtic Regulars and a General. The Celtic General and four Regulars are killed in the visceral action, but nonetheless, France falls - and with it the Merchant Republic of Italia.
The Free Republic launches a surprise invasion of Prussia. The Prussians are caught totally off-guard and wiped out in one spray of musketry and cannon fire, leaving the Free Republic of European States as the undisputed master of Central Europe, sandwiched between the titans of Romania-Yugoslavia and the Celtic Union. How will the European Powers adjust to this change?
The Confederate Navy makes a second charge against the New Welsh, this time losing only a single Ship of the Line and completely shattering the New Welsh fleet in the process. The Confederates proceed to land three Regulars on each island chain in the Caribbean. They run into EIGHT Regulars per territory as they move inland. The CSA manages to extract a single Regular from the disaster, but destroy four, failing to take any provinces.
Known Errors: Hindustan should have 0 Irregulars.
New Wales should have 2 Ships of the Line, not 5.
Celtic Union should have a fleet in the North Sea.
Alberta should be listed as belonging to the United Kingdom.
Prussia no longer exists.
Romania-Yugoslavia controls Denmark and South Urals.
