IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

Total n00bz with the white space.

So the intent of asking what the difference between a NES and a IOT was not to cattle prod a mud-fest between the two, but to actually find out the difference. Because to me the differences seem minor quibbles in how much RP is desired and artifacts of the level of moderation in the two forums.

And maps. Don't underestimate the relevance of maps. NES maps have an aesthetically hideous projection, usually.

Truth was spoken.

I think the main difference between us is that the NESers look down on us because we often have simpler rules, worse players and get no postcount.

We also have better Bromances.

Awww, Robert, that's so true!

Not yours, MINE!!!

Oooo...

I would also say that the purposes are (generally) different. IOTs are generally played to win and do well, where as NES (according to the guide) is more forming a story. You can see where this comes from with the fact IOT came a stupid game in OT while NES started in S&T. You can also see the evidence of this in the amount of fresh start IOTs is a lot higher than fresh start NESes, as in IOT the possibility that you can "win" is much more important.

Also I would like to point that IOTs lack fantasy/scifi games. Even if we do have a fresh start, we form nations that have existed and or have a basis. Most of us just fulfill the wet dreams of any Nationalist by trying to create a great über alles empire. Its more of a casual type, we joke alot OT wise and we tend to put great detail in innovative maps.

I think we need more scifi games and more fantasy IOTs. It would aid us develop IOT more so. We can learn from NES as NES can learn from IOT.
