IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

You do not need to write stories in NES, you just need to act in character/nation. Common misunderstanding there.

Oh yes, while we are on the subject, I am sure y'all want news about SKNES: Tentative start date of preNES is March 1.

Right. Last time I check, this was the IOT Organization Thread, not the Great NES and IOT Organization Thread.

Perhaps the first thing to do would be to stop considering NES a superior game style but a different one. Even when you are trying to be polite (and I do appreciate that) the fact you think it is better just kinda leaks out. Calling IOT (or even comparing it to) NES light is just massively degrading. Saying it is on a whole different level is degrading. It is a different, but equal one.

Finally, one of the most important fact I can not stress enough, Complexity=/=Greater Strategy.

Look at IOT's expansion system. It is unrealistic and just plain stupid.

IOT's are better than NES. NES want only to RP, while IOT's want and some mind.

Anyway, will Iron and Blood 2 be going up anytime soon? I heard March but I've also heard February...and January.

It is unrealistic, But how is that relevant? We never claimed that IOT was a realistic simulation. If we had to worry about the troops to use to expand and the exact area to expand we would have less time to think about what advantages in any war we would have, what provinces we could go to next, what may annoy any other neighbours, if it is worth the effort to expand into e.c.t.

As for I&B,
We will try for a 1 March 2012 start date. We will start a formal sign-up thread a couple of weeks before that date.
From the I&B group

The expansion system is exactly why IOTs are junk. The person who expands the most and fastest has the advantage.

NES are junk because instead of strategy you need RP.

The expansion system is exactly why IOTs are junk. The person who expands the most and fastest has the advantage.
Although this is not always true (For instance SonIOT Where income was completely independent of income) this is general rule, and it does give a simple model of real life. Think about the most powerful nations in the last 100 years; America and Russia, now think of the nations thought as the rising nations; China, India and Brazil, There are outliers to this but it works in IOTs as this is not a perfect simulation.

If SK (or anyone else) wants to complain about any other parts of IOT/reply to me the IOT development thread seems like a good place to take this.

Holy crap it's TK.

Several small states have been influential because they could tip a balance in a potential war between two major powers.

In other news, I will bring some NES ideas over here. I think y'all could use a 'census' of sorts to gauge how your forum is doing - all I see when I come here is a bubble of games that will collapse sooner or later. You can avert this.

What I see is a handful of games no one is going to play starting every month, and 1-3 games people are really excited about and will play as long as the host is interested.
