All powers expand.

In Europe, France, Egypt and Wali all make power plays in Italy. The Commune forces seize Corsica and Sardinia, but the Emirates secure Sicily, Malta and Southern Italy. Egypt is able to establish control over central and northern Italy, but it is as of now a tenuous thing. Minor engagements have sparked up across the region, and tensions have soared. Meanwhile, something appears to have been attempted in Gibraltar, but the perpetrators - and their objectives - remain unknown.(Opportunity: Commune of France, Poland, Great Turan, Wali Emirates, The Egyptian Republic and The Northern Watch may set DEFCON to 4 for free. This will not count as their DEFCON change for next turn.)

Meanwhile, Wali and Egypt engage in a minor scuffle over Libya, but in the end Egypt wins over the locals. The Emirate elements pull back in defeat, angry at the Egyptians for not only seizing Libya but also cutting trade with their homeland. Will more rise from this claiming dispute? Only the rulers in Egypt and Morocco know for sure.

In Asia, China embarks on a rapid campaign to expand its nuclear arsenal and sweeps Tibet, Mongolia and North Korea into their fold. This skyrockets the tensions in an already destabilized region. At the same time, Egypt attempts landings across Indochina to secure a beachhead in the Asian region, coming into conflict with India. The Indians and Egyptians engage each other in some minor battles - little more than glorified brawls - and a sense of order emerges from the initial chaos - but can such things be forgotten easily? Meanwhile, the Northern Watch secure territory across the Pacific, dragging them into this dispute as well. Time will tell whether things here will simmer down or blow over.(Opportunity: Indian Republic, Australia and China may set DEFCON to 4 for free. This will not count as their DEFCON change for next turn.)

In the Americas, the Deserters have expanded across all of former northern Mexico in less than a year, establishing a temporary capital at Guaymas in Sonora. Trade advisers have arrived from Egypt and taught Deserter traders the secrets of commerce, giving the nation vested interests in the commercial sphere - and the means to protect their upcoming prosperity.(NPC gains trait: Commercial for Deserters. Opportunity: Seafaring nations invited by Deserters to dispatch advisers. Reward offered: Military Alliance, Deserters gain trait Seafaring.)

In the United States, tensions are soaring as the USCM claims the West Coast despite repeated warnings from Washington. At the same time, a large collection of disenchanted citizens in New England declare their secession from the United States of America, establishing the "Free States of New England" or FSNE with its capital in Boston. The US military considerably outmatches the weak rebels, and it is clear that foreign investment established this rebellion's core strength. The FSNE puts out a call for military advisers to come to their nation and begin educating their soldiers in the ways of war.(New NPC: FSNE. Claims: New England. Opportunity: USA and USCM may set DEFCON to 3 for free this turn. This will not count as their DEFCON change for the turn. Opportunity: Militaristic and Airborne nations invited by FSNE to dispatch advisers. Reward offered: Tribute of 2IP per turn for 5 turns post-independence from USA, FSNE gain trait Militaristic or Airborne.)

We offer trade to our new leftist comrades.

Hang in there, little ones.

Greetings, fellow Americans. The Deserters have no intention of mass expansion, nor any intention to quarrel with any American state. However, we would humbly request the right to claim all remaining lands from former Mexico, as we believe ourselves the rightful successor state to the pre-Fall realm. Beyond that, we place no claims and will discuss and negotiate as you wish.

Deserters:@Northern Watch, excellent!

New England: @Poland, of course!

@Falklands, certainly!

@France - Thank you, brothers and sisters of the Revolution! We are honored by your assistance, though we hope the United States will accept our legal secession.

We are not American. But you shall claim the remaining two provinces of Mexico without opposition from us, provided you sign an agreement never to war with us or our allies no matter what. We must be sure of our neighbors in this absurd world.

President Akbar has shown his might to the Egyptian peoples, many nod their heads wisely, feeling assured that they knew this expansionist push was coming. Many wonder if the increased tensions with the Wali Emirates or India will lead anywhere but a public speech highlights the issue:

"My people, it saddens me that due to a lack of communication with our neighbour relations have broken down as they have. But we tried our best and we will continue to try. But it is clear we cannot depend upon them in true alliances of brotherhood like our extended family in the Northern Watch. I will be sending an envoy to discuss the future of Africa later this day. I am sure they will respond wisely.

Further you should not think that a few boarder scuffles with India, our trading partner, means that we are at ill with them. Our expansion into Indo-China had to be completely secret. We needed to secure a border to China. These ruffians of the East attacked and bullied our friends the Great Turan into a agreement that saw countless civilians having to emigrate across vast distances. We had a defensive pact with the Great Turan and we could do nothing. The Northern Watch has helped mediate the matter but it was a disgrace. On China certainly for their barbarous diplomacy at the point of a gun, but also on ourselves for not being able to help our friends. No more. I am going directly from this press conference to meet with the head of India to discuss the matter of Indo-China.
"

The UMWE apologies about being diverted (OOC: I am not on IOT 24/7). We have claimed one of the buffer lands as you suggested. However we are uncertain of the future consideration and your attempts to declare us void for our notions. Please a reconsideration. (OOC: my lack of response does not equal a lack of respect).

To: Wali Emirates
From: Egyptian Envoy

While Egypt understands it also needs to point out that a healthy alliance needs back and forth communication to better solve any problems before they occur. We suggested one of the buffer lands and then said plainly that we would prefer the northern province. You responded, not to us, but to the world in general that you would be taking the very province we said we would prefer. There was no explanation for this, no actual communication to us. It was a slight upon Egyptian Honour.

We are willing to sign new agreements, but it will not be as it was before. Egypt no longer feels the Wali Emirates would be reliable as a ally. We have also already found a new trading partner that sees our trade as the boon that it is.

It is a shame that in our mistrust of you border scuffles took place. We are willing to offer a new agreement, shown in the map provided, to better divide up our land. Egypt will trade the two provinces in Africa, for the two in Italy. This way Italy can be unified peacfully.

I am allowed, on my own initiative, to offer a third province from Africa to sweeten the deal. But my superiors would demand a NAP as well as minimum.

The region of Greece still has many Turks in it, and we request the ability to unite these Turks with the rest of the Great Turan.

To: Inda
The people of northern Afghanistan are Turkish, and we wish to unite them with the rest of the Turks however, we wish to know of your opinion on this matter?

To: SSSL

The Great Turan requests to unite the Turks in your nation, and as such we wish to bring the Sakha Republic (West Siberia) and the Volga province which has many Turks living in it. We will pay for the release of these peoples.

To: New England
While The Great Turan usually doesn't get involved in non-Turkic affairs we urge the US to let New England be, and while we don't have an open trade route for them we would be willing to support them in their quest for Independence.

The Egyptian Republic welcomes having the Great Turan having more of a claim to the Mediterranean coast. We will not contest this claim and leave you welcome to bringing the Turks of Greece under your banner.

OOC: Hey LH, isn't Istanbul and West Turkey supposed to have 4 factories due to the fact that I am Industrious?

IC:
We thank the Egyptian Republic for their friendship and cooperation on the matter of Greece.

To: The Northern Watch

We request that you vacate the Philippines. We would be happy to give you reasonable monetary reimbursement for the region however.

Your support is greatly appreciated. Our young democracy will flourish apart from the corrupt and decadent United States as a haven for justice and liberty across all the West. Any support you can send would be appreciated. Do we take this to mean you are sending advisers?

The Wali Emirates must inform that we had set claimant for the north: we had set consideration. We would in the future one set private warning before pulling out of a agreement.

We have plans to hold onto Sicily but plans are changeable.

A trade off.png

The two lands we marked are for the trade.

We suggest you desire trade with us. We need trade. (OOC: do no judge a nation for communication problems when people like can conduct communication errors my mistake). The Wali Emirates consider hope of resetting our relations.

OOC: by the way how many provinces is the Canneries LH? I wish to claim them this turn.

We will be sending advisors

The United Commonwealth urges SSSL and Turan to reach a compromise, perhaps one similar to the one reached with China. Turan has proven itself to be reasonable and we are sure that SSSL is reasonable as well.

I gave them the chance to talk, and they refused it by literally saying they wanted war.

If you want the lands and peoples of Mother Russia, come and claim them over the broken bodies of her people.

To me it sounds like they won't negotiate on this matter.

I only wish to unite the Turks, not enslave the Russians.

But if i have to invade them to unite the Turks then so be it.
