Iran can prove Bin Laden was dead long before US raid – Iranian minister

Iranian Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi claims that Osama Bin Laden died from an illness before the US raid on his compound in Abbottabad. Iran has documents to prove it, he said.

"We have credible information that Bin Laden died some time ago of a disease," Moslehi said on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Sunday, as quoted by ISNA news agency.

"If the US military and intelligence apparatus have really arrested or killed Bin Laden, why don't they show him [his body]? Why have they thrown his corpse into the sea?" Moslehi asked rhetorically, FARS news agency reports.

Moslehi labeled the US raid in Abbottabad as a “PR campaign”, created to divert the attention of its citizens from domestic problems, such as the “fragile” state of the US economy.

"We believe that what the US is seeking, by dictated media programs, to overshadow the recent awakening in the region through the release of such reports," ISNA quoted Moslehi as saying.

Bin Laden was killed on May 2 in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad, north of the capital Islamabad, during a special operation carried out by US Navy Seals. President Barack Obama announced the news in a special address to the nation.

The news of “justice having been done” sparked mass celebrations in the United States and then ignited a new wave of conspiracy theories after Washington refused to release Bin Laden’s postmortem photographs, claiming that they might instigate a new wave of radicalism.

Technically, for people who tend to question more, this is by all means not news. Osama died in 2001. Conspiracy? Ask also Steve Pieczenik (Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under three different administrations). He'll tell you the same thing - and more.

The whole thing is a clown show. Most of the media is a circus. The current state of the government with few leaders and broad incompetence is embarrassing.

As some philosophers say "nobody knows $#!&." So we can ask more questions instead of settling for answers.

To a degree I'm still fascinated to see people believing (despite what they have seen) that Building 7 fell because of a fire.

The ability of the human mind to rationalize and to form connections when none exist is nothing short of breathtaking. And I'm not saying anyone is "wrong." It's just how the mind works. My mind, your mind.

But getting to what actually IS, is a difficult deal, sometimes painful.

As put in the OP: not news at all. I myself posited the same thing three years before I even became a member of this board. I figured it very likely that Osama was killed by a random Paveway in 2001. Why was his body never recovered, as the conspiracy theorists demanded? Because it was in a million pieces, which is what tends to happen to you when a Paveway hits you in the face.

Maybe Mythbusters should do a show about that, drop some Paveways on Buster and see what happens.......

I disagree. Personally I believe that when a Paveway hits someone dead on (no pun intended), their body remains entirely intact. Look at the facts people.
