Industry Unlimited
-
His Majesty the Emperor and the trade minister Luis Francisco de Morais have today announced an imperial program to see the Empire of Brazil become the foremost industrial power of the world. In this program the Emperor expressed his desire to see the vast mineral resources of the continent utilised in new industrial works in the major centres of Lima, the Plata River delta and the coast of Brazil and exported throughout the world. Speaking to the Imperial Times the Emperor said.
'Through the industrialisation of Brazil, and through free trade and the export of our manufactures, the Empire can fulfil its manifest destiny to become a shining beacon of hard work and prosperity to the nations."
The department of primary industries has noted that plans are already in place to encourage private develpoment through lower business taxes, and for the government to engage in direct action in constructing factories in Amazonia and in more isolated regions for the utilisation of resources in order to maximise the industrial development of the nation in as little time as possible

Military Recruitment Drive
-
The Imperial High Command under Prince Ferdinand has begun a drive to expand the military. Speaking to the media the prince noted that. "In order to facilitate His Majesties free trade policy and achieve our developmental goals, it is neccesary for Brazil to posess a strong blue water navy able to protect brazilian interests abroad, and secure the trade routes from any foreign aggression. Furthermore a powerful army and air force is necessary to ensure our own security at home and secure that Brazil can project its power to those who would deny its fundamental rights."
To these ends, we can report that recruitment programs for the three branches of the armed services have been established across the Empire in order to brign enthusiastic young men into the service of the motherland. Shipbuilding works and aeronautical industries have also been given funding to research, develop and produce superior military equipment for a modern and cutting edge navy and air force worthy of our great nation.

SCANDAL IN MEXICO!
-
Unsubstantiated reports indicate the Count of Cusco's daughter, the baroness Maria de Valera has been observed intoxicated and in various states of undress in the mexican resort town of Cancun. This scandalous behaviour is just the latest of a series of misteps by the counts children which have seriously hindered their fathers political ambitions to enter the Imperial Diet, invoked the condescension of much of the imperial nobility and even drawn the explicit condemnation of the Archbishop of Cusco against decadant immorality and blasphemously unchristian perversion amongst the nobility of Cusco. The Count speaking ot the media noted his continued efforts to promote christian virtue in his county and denied the "cancun event" ever took place. The count denied our request for a private interview.
