Iroqi Communication Thread

Our neighbors to the south are in anarchy and they have acquired republic. Here's our current map of Iroq:

would it be worth establishing an embassy with the d'nuts if we dont have one then we can see what there doing in their capital and can see if there attempting any pre builds in the capital.

i don't know BCLG. is it worth the money to build an embassy with our worst enemies? maybe one of our game geniuses like Theoden or Tim B. could estimate how much money it would cost to build an embassy with Iroqi. :)

I don't think it's possible to pre-build in the capital. You can't use the palace and I don't think you can use the Forbidden Palace either.

I'd rather use our gold to rush a couple libraries to extend our borders to include luxuries. Furbomb would eb top priority then after that we should put another city on the south east edge of the jungle to get the wines.

I could estimate the cost, but checking it through the espionage missions screen is both faster and more reliable;) The cost shouldn't be too overwhelming though as it's mainly based on size of their capital and distance from their capital to the closest of our cities, and both of these factors are currently low.
It might be worth it as it will allow us to check out the garrisons of their border cities prior to our next attack on them.

@donsig
You're correct that neither palace nor the FP can be built in the capital, but they could be using another wonder, such for instance the Oracle, to prebuild with.

I will check on the cost of embassies next turn.

I have been checking the F7 screen every turn and the only wonder that shows up is the one in Semtex. If anyone were using a wonder as a pre-build for another wonder in this way, we'd see it. The Greeks showed up as working on the pyramids ages ago then that disappeared so I assume they were just spreading disinformation back then. Since I've been checking this screen regularly I've been assuming the only pre-builds currently underway would be palace or Forbidden Palace and would have to be outside the capital.

hehe, yeah, that was uh...a brain lapse. :mischief:

also, about prebuilds in the capital. i know you can't build a palace nor FP in you cap., but i did just think of another way. D'Nuts could start building an expensive improvement and then take their city workers off of tiles that net lots of shields. this would slow down production and allow them to prebuild for several turns before actually starting on a wonder. a crazy idea, i know, but one that could technically work...

Lots of communications from those down under today:

Hail Donsig Chief Talker for the Northern Nancy’s

Dearest Donsig

This is just a Brief note to say hi and see what’s happening with our brothers to the north. It seems we talked more while we were at war than we have while at peace. So anyway how are things up in the north? I see you have rebuilt your cities after the “unkindly ness” of the previous century. But a lot more southern? Your Soldiers must have spread word about how nice things are down here.

Hows about trade? Got anything you want to buy or sell? Anything foreign Affairs like at all? Well if anything comes up drop a line by PM or email (I prefer PM) or if you have MSN Greystar0@hotmail.com .

Kindest regards from your southern neighbours

Any ideas what we should say to them?

I have alot of ideas, but the forum would censor them all.

^ what he said.

It would seem to me that every thing that we really might want to trade that we can trade is going to go to MIA, and we can't trade things like maps, and all the gold that we have right now we are trying to conserve anyway, and we argreed with MIA not to trade any techs, which unless I'm forgetting something leaves us with out option, though agreed, it probably would be good to see what they have available.

We could trade them gems and / or silks in the future. Right now we have no road connection - and we're not allowed south of the jungle to build one so we don't have to worry about trading with them right now. I think I'll point these things out and use this as a chance to see if they are willing to reduce their military strength. Here's my proposed reply:

Greetings Foreign Affairs Consulate Nobotti Nobodazine,

So glad you are back in touch with us after so many long years. I trust you survived the recent *unkindliness* without undo losses. Yes, we have rebuilt our cities. Thanks for noticing. We have been wondering about trade but have seen no signs of a road connecting our two great countries. It would be quite difficult to barter goods without such a connection. If your people were to build such a connection then we can exploit the trading potential that exists between us. We have access to gems and think you may have extra wines to trade for them. This is something to consider for the future. It will be quite sometime before we can finalize such a deal though. We currently can spare no men to build the needed roads to actually get at the gems. Our men are being pressed into service as pikemen to defend our cities. After the recent *unkindliness* my people have suddenly become defense conscious and have worked night and day to bring our military strength on par with yours. Once our military advisor tells us we are not weak compared to you then my people will relax and go back to building roads and such. It would help immensly if your people would disband some of your left over mounted warriors. If we are to become trading partners then we must not fear one another.

Looking forward to the Gazette's next contest. ;)

Feedback welcomed as always.

Are we claiming that we won the war? Or is this an issue of semantics, or am I just not understanding something when you say "Hereditary Grand Vizeer of the Ironic and Iroqi Peoples"?

Something to consider might be to say something along the lines of "As you initiate and show results on your side of the road, so might our people be heartened to dedicate themselves to the cause of peace and start to lie aside their iron shields and pikes for iron shovels", so at least they realize that we might be willing to trade (are we anyway though?)

Of course we won the war! We got the gems, the silks and the incense, didn't we? :) Love your phrase and included it at the end of the message. Send it off:

There are four Iroqi mounted warriors in sight near our silk city. The northern most is WC squad #4. The others are, from west to east, WC squad #2, DS squad #1 and CR squad #3.

I think the three near Mezzonotte Keep have moved up. The one with 1 hp has been moving south.

Start moving the Immortal towards the Mezzonotte Keep next turn. Just incase.
