Start moving the Immortal towards the Mezzonotte Keep next turn. Just incase.

We have two more pikes that can reach the Keep before the treaty expires. I hesitate to move the immortal from the mountain because then the Iroqi can put a unit there. It's also a good city to rush walls in soon so the Iroqi know we're into defense big time now.

Why are the pikeman fortified on the banana? Shouldn't they be in the city?

There's a worker on the banana tile with the fortified pike. We lost two unprotected workers in the jungle recently and that's why the pike is there.

i think we should rush walls in the Keep, and maybe our other city on the southern edge of the jungle (forget the name).

The Iroqi are willing to extend our period of peace. Here is what they say:

Greetings President Donsig

Please accept my apologies for this belated reply, I have meant to disrespect moreover I need enough time to give your proposals full consideration they deserve.
On too matters of business, we may be willing to pay our part towards a Continental Road Project (CRP) if we both of our nations were willing to pay and “equal and fair” amount towards the project.

As far as military cut backs are concerned it is possible that Doughnut military could make cutback on troop number in order to increase efficiency and mobility. But such reforms are mere speculative because as you can understand matter such as that are classified because of National Security.

Most crucial to any trade Proposals is our continuing Peace. Hasn’t 20 turns gone so fast? The People of the Doughnut have no wish to return to the dark days of war. As such I hereby propose we Sign a Formal Peace Treaty*. This treaty would include the following points:

1. Guaranteed Peace for the next 20 turns.
2. Automatic Continuation for further 20 turns, unless notice is given 5 turns Prior to the end of principal term.
3. Recognition of Sovereign Territory, i.e. we will not settle north of the Sacred Jungle, you will not settle south of the Sacred Jungle.

Hopefully we can come to some sort of arrangement based on the above outline. Of course we are always willing to Negotiate on any point.

Also as a side note, we both know how long these Processes can take, during such time our current agreement lapses before we mange to sign a more permant peace treaty. As neither of our nations wishes to be engaged in a war for such a silly reason I propose we immediately Sign a Peace Extension Treaty allowing for another 5 turns of peace after our current treaty expires. Just so we can get the finer points hammered out.

I leave you now you may consider my proposals; we need to work together to ensure both our people can live in harmony without fear. Ill leave you with a quote that I find Appropriate:

“Blue M&M, red M&M, they all wind up the same colour in the end.”- Homer J. Simpson

Most sincerely, always you’re most obedient Servant

How bad were they hurting in the war? They seem fairly ready to have peace, but I guess they feel that they are not ready to reengage in the struggle just yet.

As for the road, I see little value, I doubt that we will be using it for anything except for trade (which in its self I don't see much value in, all that we want to be trading with is MIA), so what purpose is this road, when in all likelyhood we will be going back to war?

They came out of the war with a slew of mounted warriors left. We are still weak compared to them. I think it's good to keep the peace for now. We are in no position to mount an offensive against them and we are susceptible to the kind of sneak attack that ended up in Capretbomb being burned.

As for the road, yeah, it's of little value to us. That's just a carrot we're trying to use to keep the peace while we build our strength. I think it's funny that they want us to work on the project equally. We've already done the bulk of the work by building the road through the Sacred Jungle!

Well if we get workers from MIA, send one of them to do the work, that way we can still say were doing it and were not exactly losing much by doing so, but sign the peace extension thing.

we need peace for a long time to rebuild our military. sign the peace extension thing, and maybe keep a dialogue going about the road project...might keep them distracted, so they won't declare war or anything.

just say were moving workers but they keep getting hit by barbs or something.

Here's my intended mesage to the Nutters. Please give feedback.

Greetings Consulate Nobadzine,

We are happy to hear of your proposed peace treaty. We will work with your people to arrive at an equitable agreement. In the mean time we have decided to accept you proposal for an immediate extention of the current treaty for five turns beyond it's current expiration date.

As for the three proposed items for a more lasting peace treaty, they seem acceptable on the surface but we feel there is more that should be included in the treaty. We are particulary interested to broaden the clauses of our treaty pertaining to the Sacred Jungle. As you know we have a few settlements there and we are wondering if you would be agreeable to the idea of a modified zone of control extending one tile from each other's cultural borders. Under such a modified zone of control we would agree not move units next to each others cultural borders. We feel this would serve to prevent small border incidents from escalating into larger unkindlinesses. We are also wondering if our treaty should have any clauses regarding each others actions should one of the green countries from across the sea initiate war on our side of the world. We are interested in hearing your thoughts on this. Lastly on this matter, we are interested in formalizing this treaty in game. Any thoughts on how or if this should be done?

As for the CRP we are quite interested. We are quite interested in hearing where you think our repective roads should meet. Once we agree on a route we will be able to tell you how soon we can begin work on the project.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Greetings President Donsig,

We have recently became aware of a Police Action being launched in the Northern part of your territory. I have just been made aware of this situation and I right now I do not know the full extent of it.

I would like to make two things clear, the republic of Doughnutia is no way involved in this dispute we are Neutral and second we had no prior knowledge of the action.

We would also like to ask you for as much information as possible, what have the attacked you with? Why did it happen? Did you provoke it?

We Doughnuts have been on the Receiving end of this type of thing, not knowing who will betray you next and it is not nice.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Proposed reply:

We are glad to hear you and your people were not involved in this heinous and totally unprovoked act. We did nothing to anger the Galls except refuse their demands for ivory. As you know the recent unkindliness between our two peoples has left us weak. Surely your military advisor had told you this. We turned totally away from that unpleasantlness and devoted ourselves to building libraries so we could live a quiet life amongst our scrolls. We think the Galls are only trying to take advantage of our current weakness to further thier own aims for power.

We will do our best to stop the Galls but the situation is by no means a good one for us. We have been in negotiations with Greece in hope they will make a stand against this Gallic aggression. As a fellow republic are you and your people willing to stand with us? I say once again this act by the Galls was totally unprovoked. It is merely a power grab on their part. Should they succeed the Iron Republic will cease to be a viable power and nothing will prevent the Galls from turning their greedy eyes south towards your lands. Our war was a gentleman's war (well, until you burned Carpetbomb) but we expect no quarter from the heathen, savage and greedy Galls.

We only have one luxury available to give you right now but if you join us in this war we will be able to give you more soon. If you were to establish an embassy with us we would consider signing a military alliance and right of passage agreement if your mounted warriors would help us to oust the Galls from our continent. If the Galls invaded you in turn we would help defend your country as if it were our own.

It would also help us if you would join us in convincing the Greeks of the dangers this Gallic aggression presents to all of us.

Need some quick feedback so we can reply soon.

its risky because they might RoP rape us but what other choice do we have? could also maybe gift them the cities that the galls would take or is that not allowed?

yeah, they might take advantage of our situation and kill us once the Galls are gone, but we need reinforcements. It looks like MIA won't join us unless the Galls were marching towards their capital, but we can still try negotiations with them. i say we ask them to create an embassy with them, and for them to sign an RoP and MA with us. in return, we would offer our 1 spare luxury, and 1 more luxury in the future. let's see how they respond to that.

I propose the following edit:

We had already determined that the gallic attack was not a coordinate effort between yourselves and the galls. We were, however, worried that you may take advantage of the situtation we find ourselves in. We brings much joy to our hearts to find otherwise.

May we also ask about the current state of your treasuries?

If attempting to get us a military alliance against the galls causes us to lose an ally, then it's not worth it. Even non-military aid from both MIA and the Iroqi could turn the tides of war in our favor. An additional 200gold to our treasury is 3 more immortals. I would even consider asking the Iroqi to make an embassy and sign a ROP, then just use their Mounted Warriors to block the Gallic troops.

Not sure what you mean here Strider. I wouldn't consider the Greeks our allies. If they hadn't signed that peace treaty with the Galls, we wouldn't have a stack of dark green swords menacing our cities. I think an alliance and RoP with the Iroqi is much more valuable right now than anything the Greeks can give us.

Strdier, would you like to be our ambassador to Iroq? Feel free to send your message off poste haste if you want the job.
