So luxury for luxury or gift them a luxury?

I think everyone should take a look at the latest message we rec's from the Greeks. The Galls are trying to get the Nutters to join them. I think we should be offering them gems for peace. But we have a turn or two so it's most important to keep talking to the Iroqi. Let's ask them when our temp peace expires and tell them we are interested in extending our current agreement. How about if we tell them we're willing to give them a good deal on the gems and ask them what they are willing to pay. We can say we're interested in a lux, gold or workers. Also, let's not say too much to them about how the war is going. What we say to them will surely go back to the Galls. I think the fact that we're now only asking for extended peace rather than an alliance will show them we are confident about the outcome of the war.

Proposed reply:

Greetings! It seems that our peace treaty will expire soon and it's time to discuss extending it. However, we would like to do more than just extend the treaty. We would like to open up trading between our civilizations.

We currently have gems that we would like to put on the table. Were willing to take gold, luxuries, or workers (or even a mixture of them) to trade. So what do you say?

P.S. I know this letter was fairly short, but I like to keep things simple. ;)

I think it's friendly enough and offers a "confidence" in our situtation.

Do we want to add something about "common solidarity between the great nations of our great contenant against the KISSian menace" or something simular, or do we want to leave the topic be, MIA did mention that Iroq was on the fence.

Could maybe leave a hinting question whether theyd prefer an alliance with someone on their own lands or someone on lands far away.

how about we say something like this: "if war must come to our continent let the people of Iron and Iroqi unite to fight a common threat, as the Galls are currently more powerful than us both. we must not let past differences between our peoples, prevent our nations from advancing foward past the Galls."

We really need to get a dialogue going with the Iroqi. I can send a message if you're too busy, Strider. Just post and let me know.

How's this?

The war against the galls goes well, and it will not be long untill their filth is removed from our continent. We are stronger now, it will not take us long to re-build from the invasion. However, we do not wish to alarm you at our massive military build-up. The tides of war will not turns towards your people and we wish to assure you of that. We wish to make closer relations with the doughnut eating ones.

Also.. no I have time to do this. I just thought I had done it already. Actually, I could've swore I had modified my reply already. eh... oh well.

Anyway... the reply shows a confidence in our situtation. I'm hoping they take the words about the "massive military build-up" as a defensive stance, instead of an attempt to invade the gallic homeland.

Still no reply from the Iroqi. This is not a good sign.

Well, they're probably not interested in gems since they're trying to get some of their own. I've tried to block them a little but they will probably settle where they are. I rushrd the library in Fort C. for 136 gold. our third gem is hooked up and that gives us an alternate road down south in case their new city cuts ours. :) Will start hooking up incense next turn. Maybe we can sell that to the Iroqi?

It's not like they especially like us anyway though, so I wouldn't expect them to be running for us at our every need.

We need to sign something with the nutters soon! the feeling im getting from chat is that KISS are very very actively trying to get the nutters on board with them against us.

No, that would make us look weak but we should have a drafted up peace treaty in time for the next letter. Do they have anything we want, such as luxuries?

We could maybe give them a biased trade there way, perhaps 200 gold for a luxury or something.

I don't think we need to draft a peace treaty. There is already one in force. All we need do is extend it. They have wines. I wouldn't offer them gold though. We need to keep that for rushing units and libraries. How about a two for one lux deal? We give them gems and incense for wines and we give each other peace?

I suggest any of us who can chat with any of them, do so.

i meant, they give us gold for our luxury, at a very reasonable rate.

Ahh, I see. You had suggested 200g for a luxury. That didn't seem to be biased in their favor. I think 4 or 5 gpt would be high so 100g for a lux tops, even cheaper if we want to sweeten the deal so they'll extend the peace treaty.

My bad! got my numbers all confused, yep offer them something very reasonable in their favour for a luxury.
