Iroqi Communication Thread

Tell them we are discussing and polling the issue, Donsig, we just need to win three more turns before we strike and they called our bluff. That is still honorable.

Greetings Robi D,

I have sent word of your generous offer back to my people. My people must discuss the proposal and vote on it. Unfortunately this is not a process that can be completed in a swift manner. Please be patient with us. In the mean time, are there any other technologies your people are willing to put on the table?

donsig

Please give feedback on the proposal.

Please send that, and indirectly hint to play the save and feel secure.

keep up the nice good diplomacy donsig, but don't forget we should start the pillage war in a few turns.

Yes, that begs the question of how we go about declaring war. Do we make a formal declaration of war or do we just attack them and talk about it later? If we declare war then we must consider timing. I think we take our turn after they do. Still, we have to enter their territory before we can pillage and they will (of course) be very anxious to know our intentions. We must tread very carefully here. We are dealing with people and not AI. Pillaging = war and war will not be easily forgiven nor quickly forgotten. What we say to team donought in the next few turns we will have to live with the rest of the game. I recommend we decalre war openly before we pillage but not necessarily before we enter their territory. I do not think it wise to try to convince them we moved into their territory by mistake. It would be better to ask their permission. Trouble with that is they may say 'no'. I see two options: 1) Tell them we're moving through their territory or 2) Simply move in and then when they complain we can say we're just exploring.

Option 2 seems best. We can say, 'hey, what's the big deal we're just passing through. We didn't think to ask because it's such a little thing. If the situation were reversed we wouldn't mind you entering our lands." We can say this becasue they are not near our lands. :satan: OR when they complain we can take umbrage and let the argument escalate. Then when we pillage we can say they started the problems between us and caused the war.

Tim, you are right, they probably got writing, so we need to take that worker in order to bring about a situation where the embassy is excluded. I will say we need to strike this turn.

With a *free* worker within easy reach there seems no point in delaying our planned *police action* against the Iroqi. With war looming - what do we say to them? We cannot now wander into their territory and claim innocence as I suggested earlier. By taking the worker we will have to admit being the aggressor. What kind of spin can we put on this so that we don't look so bad???

a suggestion

We need to tell them we just popped a hut with alphabet the very same turn, which is an outright lie, but only verifiable postgame. Then we have hid our research strategy. Pretend surprised in a statemanslike way. Then ask for their writing, which we can assess from the technology screen, and tell them we want to exchange that for Masonry and a little bit of gold. We should try to get that technology deal, then we take their worker. If they manage to remove the worker, or to add some garrison for him, we can still get writing out of them. Still act as if you are serious about a deal, but that you did not like the alphabet proposal, as it is far away from our research strategy, we say, *smirk grin*.

Greetings Robi D,

I regretfully report that your trade offer has become moot. We have acquired an alphabet of our own from a small village we recently encountered. However since your people desire to build stone dwellings we are quite willing to show you how this is done if in return you would should us just exactly what it is that one does with an alphabet!

Allright, emphasize, since this is lie and propaganda, not overdo it, the fine warband lead by Dareios, a friend of Xerxes, to mirror their own language. just more detail there.
Also tell them we are open to their proposals, and that there is always a new option.
Also make sure they understand we got the village popped this very turn, so please act out more thrill and excitement with that "fact". In a situation like this, you may be more enthusiastic. This is not Hollywood, but make a good shot iin sounding a bit more convincing.

Greetings Robi D,

I regretfully report that your trade offer has become moot. A fine warband led by Dareios (a great friend of Xerxes who leads the war party near Cruller) entered a small village and the people there have given us an alphabet! My countrymen were quite excitied by this free gift though very disappointed that we would not be able to use your alphabet. My people are still eager to trade with yours. Since your people desire to build stone dwellings we are quite willing to show you how this is done if in return you would show us just exactly what it is that one does with an alphabet!

haha war party, you should have called it scouting party hahahahahaha
We will see if it backfires....hard to know....if it gives us writing, I will laugh.

You suggested warband Provo! I just followed your lead. So, have we heard from them? I think it is there turn...

Good day donsig,

Let us be the first to congratulate you on your good fortune. While
we are disappointed our Alphabet trade could not take place we are
nevertheless happy to continue to seek other trades with your great
nation. As you now have Alphabet we are willing to offer the fine art
of Writing, which we recently discovered. However as I am sure you
understand, Writing is of much greater value then Alphabet so we would
require a more substantial offer then Masonry to trade for it. Is
there any other fine technologies that you have in your possession or
will have in the near future to trade for Writing? I look forward to
hearing from you soon, so that we can continue to build on the good
relationship our two great nations have.

Robi D

Well, they are dead meat, and the warband worked out well :) I suggested it, so it was a two way risk, but I guess you embalmed the warband quite well in friendly prose.

So, should we tell them we can trade them masonry and a worker? lol

We don't really have any other techs to trade them, do we? Should we offer gold or should we just tell them we have nothing else to trade and be done with it?
