Iroqi Warplanning Thread

i disagree with this war and will not vote for it if the time comes but i'll help plan it.

It may be worth the greeks declaring war a turn or 2 before us, forcing the nutters to move their troops south allowing us to take the top cities easier, the Greeks should land a settler on our continent soonish that way they can start loading that city with troops, giving them a beachhead. We also need to establish our aims a lot better than what it looked like the last war was started for 'oh look a worker i want that!'

It might also be worth creating a couple of galleys so we can transport units down the coast, lessening the chance of the Iroqi noticing our buildup of troops.

Any thoughts as to how much manpower it would take to capture the jungle city and the one SW of Torusopolis?

Also, how many pikes would we need in place to defend our southern cities?

Battle log:
Torusopolis:
MW (5/5) vs Pikeman (3/3). MW Wins, MW (1/5) no MGL.
Torusopolis captured.
Fruitbomb:
MW (4/4) vs Pikeman (3/3). MW Wins, MW (5/5) Promoted to elite.
Fruitbomb captured.

Well not good, may as well drop the rest of them cities like theres no tomorrow and pull back to our core, be bringing as much back as we can and any workers we have down there we should just disband as we dont want them getting there hands on it.

We're the weakest nation and we can't get help from the Greeks. I say we throw everything we have at the Iroqi and hope the Galls put us out of our misery fast.

lurker's comment: I think, by participating, you have an obligation to "play to the best of your abilities" and -at least- try to survive. If "throw everything we have at the Iroqi" is what team TNT thinks is "play to the best of your abilities", then what justifies "hope the Galls put us out of our misery fast?"

But then again; I'm just a lurker.

That is what I say. We ask MIA what they want to help us, we do our best to dig ourselves out of this. I understand that Donsig needs to get out from playing, I would get frustrated too, but we need to continue on, build the spaceship or die trying.

but we still have a pretty reasonable chance of holing up in our core cities and just sitting there for awhile till they get bored, why cant the greeks help?

I actually came to the same conclusion as donsig before even reading this.

With the Galls, there exists from this team a bit of begrudging respect, and therefore a desire not to prolong the obvious. However, throwing everything at the Iroqis would allow us to right the wrong of breaking a trade deal to dogpile on your neighbor. No matter what, the Nutters should not win this game, and we should do whatever we can to ensure that.

In a sense, with our actions we almost get to "vote" on whom we feel should win this game. And I would rather "vote" for the team that played the game best, the team that was smart enough to neutralize (or is that neuter?) its biggest rival into believing that honor was important in this type of game, than "vote" for a team so steeped in its own definition of honor that it cannot even deign to take pre-emptive action against its own slow demise.

Plus, if we bum rush the Nutters, we may actually gain some of their cities, KISS may become complacent and quit sending units to our shores, and we may be able to hold out long enough for the silly peace treaty between MIA/KISS (that wouldn't be worth the paper it's printed on if the situation were reversed) to expire.

Let's send everything we have toward the land of Donuts! It's our only hope.

i disagree entirely see my post in the other thread, we have more than enough units to adequatly defend 6/7 cities.

I don't feel that obligation. If this were not a team game I would suicide out, let the other three players play on and I'd find something more fun to do. The Greeks refuse to attack KISS so we can't even play a balance of power game here. We've already played to the best of our abilities and lost. As I said earlier, if this were a chess game I'd resign the position and go on to a new game.

There's no point in arguing philosophies. This is a team game and it seems there are members of the team who will do their best to stall the Galls and Iroqi in order to give the Greeks a chance to win.

I agree with everything DZ said in his post. I just quote this little bit for the simple reason I think the Nutters have already made sure they will not win. Their attack takes us out and leaves them low man on the totem poll to be gobbled up either by the Galls or Galls and Greeks.

No that is simply not true, i want us to win and while chances are extremly minute they are still there and until we are down to our last city and last unit we still have that chance of winning, untill then i wont just give up our civ in the hope of stopping someone else from wining.

My thoughts exactly.

donsig, if you're not going to play any more turns , i hope you will still stay on and offer your ideas and opinions.

Battle log:

Sword (3/3) vs Pike (1/3). Sword wins (3/3).

im not sure where that was just yet but ill take a look at the save now.

i'm guessing it is the pike that pillaged the banana jungle tile south of the ruins of Fort C.
