Iroqi Warplanning Thread

We have a vet immortal on Mount Carbonperoxides. He has fortified. We have one horseman in the eastern jungle. We have two horsemen in Dynopolis and a third will be ready next turn. All four horsemen, (two veteran and two regular) will rendevous as shown below. If the Iroqi sack the barb village and then continue to move north-northwest towards our cities they will move right next to our waiting horsemen. Our vets will have an 80% chance of winning a battle (with another 10% chance of withdrawing). Our regular horsemen will have a 67% chance of winning a battle (with 15% chance of withdrawing). Should be a nice surprise for them. I just hope they don't have a comparable force moving north in the west.

Here's the plan:

Changed the plan a bit. There seemed to be no point moving two tiles SE of Fort Incendiary. Once the Iroqi moved one mounted warrior up next to out stack of horsemen they would not move the rest. If we attacked the squad that moved, then our horsemen would fall prey to the remaining Iroqi. Trading horsemen one at a time is not appealing either. We need to inflict heavy casualties on the invasion force while maintaining our force so it can go on the offensive.

It seems to me the Iroqi are aiming for the plains tile two tiles due north of their present position. My guess is their plan is to break out into the open where they can use their speed to harass our cities. They sailed a ship past that point many years ago so they know the terrain.

So, I expect their stack to move north. In an effort to dissuade them from moving next to Mount Carbonperoxides I moved one of our vet immortals up from the end of Military Road. I assembled our horsemen on the banana tile due east of Fort Incendiary.

The trap is set. If the Iroqi move west onto the gems we will be able to attck with two vet immortals and all four horsemen. If the Iroqi move NW we can hit them with all four horsemen. If they move due north (as expected) we can also attack with all four horsemen. If they move SW we can attack with two immortals and bring up Crown Prince Strider and his forces as back-up. :)

Here's a visual of the plan:

A good plan. Especially because our horsemen stack also will be able to attack them if they move NW.

Do we know how much of our military road they know of?

Here's the current situation on the Military Road:

We have 4 immortals and 3 horsemen at the terminus of Military Road. Two more immortals will be there next turn and another 2 turns after that. We'll send a horseman south as a scout next turn. The last we knew there were mounted warriors two tiles south of the terminus. We will produce three more horsemen in the next three turns. It will take them about three more turns to reach the terminus.

We'll have a settler next turn who will travel to the jungle and settle Fort Carbonperoxides. It'll take 6 or 7 turns to reach the site. This strategic city will give us immediate access to gems and will serve as our eyes in the eastern part of the Sacred Jungle.

They moved next to it while retreating from the battle of Banana Plains. They also had mounted warriors two tiles south of the terminus that have probably been scouting north and returning. If so, they've probably deduced that we have a road through the jungle.

If we heal and gather we'll have 7 immortals and 6 horsemen ready to move out on turn 85. There are no spearmen in the task force to absorb blows from the Iroqi mounted warriors so we need to devise tactics that will allow us to use our horsemen to find the Iroqi mounted warriors. We need to know where the MWs are so we can keep our immortals out of their reach. We must also use our horsemen to attack the mounted warriors. It would seem our horsemen are expendable as long as they can deliver our stack of immortals to the gates of an Iroqi city,

In addition to stack moving tactics we need a strateic level plan concerning which city to attack first and how we should approach it.

We should head south and then swing around the mountains and charge down in a Southeast direction. Once we find the eastern border of Doughnitia, we can pounce on their cities. We would then move across west through their core, with the main target being their capital. If this strategy works, then their whole core would be wiped out or under our control.

For finding MW's, we could send 1 elite Horseman out ahead of the rest of our stack to find any wandering MW's. If he's attacked, he will hopefully win, if not, we will know where the enemy is.

Our forces have split once again. This time we have a closely packed formaiton of three battle groups. Each battle group consists of a leading horseman backed by two immortals. There is one immortal in reserve and three more horsemen on the way.

Since Hamru found the coast clear on his initial move south a bit more scouting seemed in order. Hamru move west and spotted the Iroqi on Lookout Mountain. Their current garrison of this strategic mountian is:

WC squads 2 and 4 (the former a 4/4 vet MW, the latter a 3/3 reg MW) and and un-named 3/3 reg warrior.

Hamru's scouting put him in danger of attack from the forces on Lookout Mountain. If he is to perish we must make the Iroqi pay. Toward that end two immortals (Babak and Kia) moved up to support Hamru. Kia, our elite immortal, will have the first crack at any Iroqi MW that enters Hamru's area.

Hooman, our regular horsemen, scouted south and east but saw no new Iroqi units. Ardeshir and Keresaspa moved up in support.

Kaven, another vet horseman, moved two south deliberatley putting himself in range of the Iroqis on Lookout Mountain. He is backed by Crown Prince Strider and Kasra.

It would seem our first target should be the newest Iroqi city. Thay have named this settle ment Powdered and I suggest we crush it beneath the heels of our immortals' boots, leaving it truly powdered. ;)

1) How important is it to dislodge the Iroqi from Lookout Mountain?

2) Should we approach southest through the one tile forest?

3) What defense should we leave at the terminus of Military Road? Remember there is a settler on the way to Fort Carbonperoxides.

1) Very important I'd say. Knowledge of unit positions in a war is a huge advantage that we must deny them if possible.

2) I think taking a little detour further to the east would be worth it to stay out of their immediate attack range.

3) Not more than two immortals as constant reinforcements are coming that way, and our march forward against iroqi territory will occupy most of their units.

1) Probably war critical. as long as the Iroqi have MW's on Lookout Mountain, then they can always see us coming to kill them...and everyone knows it is always easier to kill an Iroqi savage when they don't see you coming.

2) I think going Southeast is the way to go. So we should to the 1 tile forest, then go east from there and then proceed down towards the Iroqi homeland.

3) I think 2 Immortals should be enough, as long as some newly built troops from our core will not take too, too long to get down South.

The southern front:

Looks like our immortals should attack - but bear in mind we do not know what lies to the south!

Ah now i see the screenshot, its a calculated risk but they could not have ammassed a large force behind them units so its one we should take, especially with the chance of the elite one winning.

We should send our elite immortal to kill the MW next to it. Hopefully he'll pop an MGL, if not its still ok. then send the immortal on the same square as the elite and our immortal on the road to the same spot where the MW once stood. this will give us a good 3 Immortals ready to take on any MW's who charge down Lookout Mountain. :D

I also think we should then use the rest of our remaining forces to kill the other 2 MW's on the edge of the jungle. Kill the units and then fortify the positions with Horses and Immortals.

Well its not like we have a HUGE military, those 3 warriors? on the mountain might indicate that the d'nuts have just been pumping out warriors as there cheap. therefore possibly making their military look bigger.

I would doubt though that they would waste shields on making warriors just to be impaled on our swords, and I would think that it would be inefficient to use them as MP.

There's only one warrior on the mountain (in the south). There are two mounted warriors with him. There's also one warrior in the west but he's been around for ages. They've been making mounted warriors,

We want to look stronger, so we shouldn't sign peace with them. Especially, since they killed my horseman. He must be avenged!

We should just continue amount forces. We apparantly didn't have a big enough force to successfully attack the Iroqi. Also, we should send out 2 horses to capture Lookout Mountain. If we could control it, we would be able to see the Iroqi forces in the surrounding area, and be able to get a nice defense bonus from the mountain.

Then if we dont have enough men to make a successful attack on the Iroqi homeland, why are we defending such a long way down? are we hoping to build a city by the gems?
