Is Britain about to leave the EU?

it was nice to see David Cameron smile and almost LOL in Westminster today, things must be looking up for the UK
Or they're just looking up for Cameron, who might weasel out of his responsabilities and throw them on others.

If Labor insists in keeping that baboon at the helm, we will find out what the UK will look like after a generation under the Tories.

It's Labour with a U and you keep failing to notice that we run a parliamentary democracy. Unless you're alleging that Corbyn's entire cabinet are as bad as him, none of that hysteria is going to happen.

My phone has a US auto-correct, so bear with my labor, color and center :p

And the real reason Corbyn won't ruin the UK is that he will never be PM. I give it 75% odds that Labor will remove him before a general election, and if they don't, they will lose big time.

Well, given that the voting public tends to shift parties after disappointment, I'm not fancying the Conservatives' chances either, even (or maybe especially) if they implement Brexit.

just heard Farage's speech in the EU, he called them all a bunch of lazy B's who have never worked, to paraphrase him then said he hoped they would come to a fair outcome for the UK

interesting times, must call for an interesting negotiating technique

Spoiler :

I wonder if Brexit may have really boosted the pro EU sentiments in Norway. The main reaction to it seems to be that it was a fairly silly move. So some reflection on Norway's also somewhat silly relationship to the union might very well follow. Though there won't be any join referendum any time soon though.

Is there a half-decent guy who campaigned for Leave? I can only find douches.

I'm a card-carrying Labour party member, and I'd sooner vote for the Lib Dems than for Corbyn. Useless, incompetent, and downright dangerous. We need an opposition that can actually oppose the current government. As it is, there is no opposition. There is nothing.

So, anyone in british politics already noting that doing nothing is not really going to help lessen uncertainty? (anyone other than Corbyn, of course).

I am a bit surprised, although not (obviously) by Boris-Gove not being able to do negotiations (cause they are imbeciles). I am surprised somewhat by the general backstabbing in Labour and the Stasis this leads to. Stasis is often bad by itself, but it can be catastrophic when you are not moving at all trying to grasp at the edges of your free-fall pit...
Also surprised that apparently Camoron is getting a pat on the back for pretty much backing on his own announcement (threat) that the brexit procedure will officially begin the next day of a Leave result. This isn't about ruining Boris' career (lol?), it is about your country's future.

That would be awesome! I want my voting rights in the EU, not just the membership. :)

While speaking against Farage is always funny, Juncker should recall he was very crucial in starting the whole 2008 crisis (that led to the current awesome Eu) with his "the game is over" line. Luxemburg is the Eu's tax haven, and an 'economy' over 95% relying on financial services which would be blown out overnight like a candle in the case of an Eu split.

Down on the ground, facts are actually changing.

Brits have already started to apply for EU passports!

  • Swedish Radio is reporting that while Sweden usually get about 20 passport applications a week, so far this week they've gotten 129 applications just from Brits.
  • The Irish embassy in London received over 4000 applications just on Monday (normal would be ~200).
  • Le Soir reports from Watermael-Boitsfort which last had an application in 2013, but got 3 yesterday.
  • Reuters reports that post offices in Northern Ireland has run out of passport application forms.
  • Google Trends reports a major increase in searches for getting Irish passports.

Mostly looks like everyone getting new passports are also intending to keep their old ones though.

David Cameron renewed the BBC's charter on very favourable
terms for the over paid BBC executives shortly before the campaign
really warmed up. I think that was part of an underhand understanding
the BBC would only publicise the more eccentric Brexiters.

How else do you think Remain got as much as 48% of the vote?

I refer you to the Labour MP Lisa Stuart.

who we (bigots, haters, ignoramuses, racists & xenophobes
....... etc) Leavers forgive for actually being born German.

This is all to be expected.

The passports that we Brits actually have has European Union actually
inscribed in golden letters on the front, and reference to the EU inside.

Now my passport is due to run out on March 2021.

Now if we Brexit before then, and I am still alive and want to travel;
I will likely have to pay the UK government a fee to have it replaced.

If a dual British and other EU member state national has their UK passport
expiring in the next few months, it makes little sense for them to pay the
UK government a fee for a 10 year passport that will not last that long.
