I simply want your opinion, prefeably with a bit of expanation. Personally, I love to watch the movie no matter how many times I see it. It's one of my favorites, along with Zoolander. So, I would most liely be leaning towards no.

aw, I suppose you're one who likes explosions boobies and such in thier flicks huh?

Don't we have a certain smart, young, poster from NJ? Then it cannot be overrated.

EDIT: Oops. It seems you are talking about the state of a movie and not the state of NJ.

so then what do you think of the movie?

Any movie that young people rave about constantly (especially though not necessarily when they call it 'deep') is, as a rule, overrated.

Thus, without having ever seen garden state, I can say with confidence it is overrated, along with Donnie Darko, Fight Club, and I Heart Huckabees.

Without sounding like a jerk that jumps onto Internet bandwagons, I like Chuck Norris movies. I actually might go up and watch Invasion USA.

hey it's fine, the entier point of the internet is to facilitate the creation of bandwagons. for instance, the whole chuck norris thing exploded in about 1 week, no lie.

I thought Cuivienen was well cast, but she needed more lines. ;)

Oh cripes. I just voted strictly from the poll question before reading the first post. I thought it was a question about New Jersey. Voted no because I think it gets a bum rap most of the time, but I guess that's irrelevent since you weren't interested in THE Garden State.

I'm not exactly sure how it's rated, but in order for this question to be asked I'm assuming it has to be rated highly. I thought it was good, but nothing special.

OK, I have a question about the movie:

in the opening sequence, he is in the plane and all the other folks are freaking out because the plane is crashing. He's oblivious.

Is it

a) a dream sequence that explains that he is on anti-depressants and he's lost all emotions;

b) the last chronological event in the story, when he goes back to LA but because he is in love with the Portman character, he doesn't care that the plane is crashing, or

c) some other thing.

I'm not really satisfied with a) because I'm not sure that you are as "flat" in your dreams as in your life when you're on anti-depressants. Besided, there's that kissing scene when they're playing spin the bottle (what a bunch of losers...) to show that he's lost most of his will to live, so what would be the point of this scene?

But I'm also not satisfied with b) because heck, wouldn't he be at least a little unhappy about having lost the love of his life?

So it's overrated for me because I can't make the first scene fit with the story.

It was an okay movie. I can understand why all of our misunderstood youth (tm) would rave about it, though.
