While I agree, what options does that leave Israel?

Like I've said a number of times already: I'm against the bombing, but support Israel's crossing the border to face Hezbollah forces head on.

I didn't come on here to answer questions. I'm not going to be on here much longer anyway. Basically my point is civilian casualty rates are way too high so far versus Hesbollah rates. Also I am upset with Western countries complacency, evacuating their nationals while watching and allowing Lebanon to get bombed like this.

Considering the amount of munitions Israel had dropped on Lebanon in the past 10 days, the casualty figures are a demonstration of Hizballah's quite suprising competence (or ability to hide it's losses), not of Israel's callousness.

That may be true, but I'm more upset with Western countries than Israel. I think it could be a real mess. And too high of a civilian casualty rate.

I think Israel is reacting badly.
They should have asked Lebanon for permission to go in and retrieve the soldiers. Once they were denied they would start bombing and invade. Or if they got agreement they would send in land force to eliminate Hezbollah and start bombing areas that erupt in rebellion to Beirut.

would the conflict be eased or solved if

a) Isreal withdrew from the occupied territories to the green line
b) Accepted a two state soloution
c) stop settling Palestinian lands (in contravention of the Geneva Conventions)
d) Allowed right of return to Palestian exiles
e) Agreed to a 'joint capital' soloution to Jerusalem.

A Katusha Rocket Launcher is hardly an accurate piece of equipment. Basically, you turn it, and shoot, and basically know that gravity will bring it down eventually. Hezbulla targeted one thig: Israel. They knew their rockets would land in Israel.

On another note, if Hezbulla WAS attacking Israel's military, does that not constitute declaration of war on Israel, thus giving Israel the right to retaliate against the agressors?

That's not true actually. Of course you cant aim at a specific building, but you can definetely get a good hit to miss ratio when your target is the size of a city block. Most Katyushas landed in Israeli towns, cities and kibbutzim, not in the open ground they should've landed had they been truly "random".

To be fair, I think Israel has basically met all the 5 criteria you've outlined, and the onus has been on the terrorist groups to respond in kind.

And in conjunction 3). And there are still Palestinians outside of Palestine which AFAIK cannot return. And does it not oopose Jerusalem as palestinian capital?

If you think that will stop this conflict dead in its tracks, your pretty nieve. Hezbollah arent destroyed yet. Parts of Lebanon are completely wrecked. Its a bit more complex than 'Now Jimmy if you return that chocolate bar to the shop im sure everything will be all right'

Complacency and\or support in current Lebanese campaign. But yeah that is pretty stretched reasoning, we are not making Israeli nor Hizbollah nor Lebanese to do anything.
