Is Magic...Real?

I think that magic definitely is something we will never understand, something that we never were meant to understand. It is there so we can maintain a sense of wonder, even after we have explained everything else.
And as a side note, David Blaine is the devil.

Magic involves the "supernatural," that is, what goes beyond what we understand. We sure understand the general gist of programming and the internet, so I wouldn't classify programmers as magicians since there's nothing supernatural in what they do.
Of course not, nothing supernatural at all...

Well, there's a reason that top hackers use the term 'wizard'...

Magic is what the most arcane brokers of lore trade in.

Let me ask you something. Do you believe that magic is a true force in this world? What are the moral repercussions from such a thing? What makes it a real force?

Ask any magician, they will tell you magic is not real. The people who perform magic know all too well about the laws of physics. It looks real, but you'll never see a magician levitating parts to construct a skyscraper. It's an illusion, and is only as useful as an illusion.

yes theres magic, we've known about for some 2,000 years.

It's only magic if you believe it, both Derren Brown and Voodoo prove that admirably in their own ways. Magic's not amazing but the power to make people believe in the supernatural is.

Bright day
Well I was personal witness to some shows that were... strange. Thankfully I was able to leave it at that unlike several people who demanded repeat after repeat in hopes they will see the trick. So there are strange things and skills.

If you mean tribal stuff (bardic Black Satire for example), it is belief propeled.

We believe Him to be all-powerful in the sense that He can do anything allowed by the laws of the universe, but He is not omnipotent as the term is usually understood.
Why is that? Isn't He the Creator of the universe? Or is he just the strongest guy to come out of it?

Magic tricks exist. And there are some phenomena that seem to defy rational explanation. But no, I don't believe magic is real, not in the classical "Put a curse on you and have your head expode" or wave your hand and have the teapot dance kind of way. It would be kinda cool if it did, but sadly the universe isn't run according to what would be cool to see and do.

And I don't believe in the supernatural. I'm just saying that we don't really understand how some magic is performed. But I agree with Eran that it can be explained by science.

Define the supernatural. I think my comparison holds up when seen in context.

What is mundane to us, would be awe-inspiring to more primitive cultures or past societies.
