ISDG 2012 - Server Announcements, Connection Issues and Questions

Civforum.de did not finish their turn again last turn.

WPC has finished their turn within 30 minutes of the roll of the turn timer.

WPC and CivForum.de are no longer at war. :)

Regular turn timer dynamics now in effect. :D

Civplayers are about to miss a turn. Few hours left and they did not logged in at all this turn.

Power's been out. I will get the games up again within an hour.

ISDG reloaded from RB Autosave (from this morning)
Warmup Game reloaded from Filon Autosave (from 14.01 - still paused)
Intrateam Game reloaded from Maga_R Autosave (from this morning)

Do note that the ISDG and the Intrateam games are not paused.

This turn has run for some 45 hours with civforum.de yet to log in, let alone finish their turn.

I have to take down the server for several hours today. I need to install more RAM and a new harddisk and run an update cycle. The downtime will start in approximately 30-60 minutes from I do this post, and I will post here when the server is back online. I am keeping all savegames backed up on a different computer in addition to the server, just in case. :)

Downtime starting now.

This is going to take a while, just so everyone is aware of it. I need to move things between disks, and it's thousands upon thousands of small files. And since I'm not running the server with SSD's it takes a long time to copy all those files.

server is back!! :goodjob:

I wish it were that well. I have suffered a massive software problem, and will need to reinstall the entire server because the registry is corrupt. So the games will remain down for at least 18-24 more hours. :(

I have to go to bed now. I suppose I could start the games up again, and leave them up until I wake up again and start working on the server - but I don't see the point of that, since the rules would require a pause of up to 24 hours after this, so the game would possibly not even be unpaused before I have to take it down again.

The reinstallation and rebuild of everything may take me 1-2 days now that I've had time to look at how much I have to redo, so for good measure I will say that the game may be down for the entire weekend. If everything goes well, it'll take far less than that - but after the nightmare I've gone through tonight I'm not placing my bets on that.

(For anyone who may be interested in the technobabble it was the attempted move of a WSUS database that failed, which led to a cascade failure of several services, rendering the server more or less inoperative with Windows Installer as the final service that failed and I had to take ownership by force of several registry entries which really shouldn't be necessary just to install stuff. I don't want to leave my server in that state, so it needs to be reinstalled.)

Actually, belay that order. I need to finish my programming work before I reinstall the server, so I'll just have to live with the server as it is until I'm done with that. I'll start up the games again now, and I will do this in a week or two.

I logged in and paused the game. Turn timer is at 11:20-something.

appearently the game was not paused..

I did pause it, so in that case someone has unpaused it. I believe the rules say 24 hours pause after reload, or was that just the suggested rule change?

If you want to request a reload you have to pause the game and we need r_rolo1 to make an admin decision.

I currently can't connect to civfr forum, and so I can't access to my team turn action list and play it. I will try again tomorrow morning (GMT+1). If it still doesn't work, is it a case where a team can put the game in pause ?

Edit : civfr forum is back, no trouble anymore.
