IsrNES: Beresheet, In the Begining

Nice work on your first update Israelite! The Pharoahs of Upper Egypt will rule supreme!

Very nice.. I hope the relations I will have with my naibors to the north and south will remain peaceful. but I did notice something out with the stas.

Teutonia (Germany)
Major Industries: 90% farming, 20% pillaging

110%? that seems a bit off.

now to get to work on diplomancy..

lurker's comment: Nice update. But I'm really not digging the white cities. That's my only complaint, great NES! I know my first NES was waaaaaay worse. Maybe I'll join this once I get back home after Thanksgiving...

@Everyone- Remember, orders are do friday. I think I have decided on 100 year turns to start. Once things get interesting I will starts shortening. I may end up not doing IT/BT but still varrying amount of years in an update.

@TerisH- Thank You! now to fix that...
@North King- Black coastal cities seemed to blend in too much with the continental borderse. I like my way. But thanks.

To Sumeria (both of them. they are listed twice)
we of Babylon welcome our brothers of the faith. we hope for peace between our nations as we dwel upon our world. may both our nations prosper in the years to come. perhaps we can join our efferts to bring our fellows into the glory of civilization. (mutual prosperity pact (open boarders, non-agression pact))

To Assyria
We of Bablyon greet our naibors to the north. we hop for many years peace between our people. (Non-agression pact)

So, I have contact with the other Chinese nations, ja?

<kvetch> I'm not mentioned in the update. </kvetch>

"Honor to the dead," sang out Coscoma.
"HONOR TO THE DEAD!" answered the raiding party.
"They shall be well received in the Halls of Honor," Coscoma continued.
"We shall honor their memory so we may meet them again in the Halls of Honor." While they spoke, the men began to gather the bodies of those who had fallen.
"Burn their bodies and set their spirits free."
The men replied in time-honored fashion: "It is well that we set them free through the fire."
Coscoma sighed and looked at the village they had captured. Only a few able-bodied men remained. His own raiding band had lost only half a dozen men. They had been lucky to capture such a village with so few losses.
His men started rounding up the survivors and setting them to chopping down the crude stockade of their village. The wood would be used for a pyre for his fallen comrades.
This is all well and good, but we need something more lasting.
"Regna, the village has a stone building. Do you want it for your seat?"
An idea came to Coscoma. "No. But clean it out. I have another purpose for it."
And so he dedicated the first Temple of Ancients, where men came to honor the dead, and those fallen in battle were burned while men sang praises of their deeds in battle.

Spending orders:
1 eco point to project: Temple of Ancients (establishes my religion and gives it a focal point)
1 eco point to education so that we may have teachings of this religion

Isya I may call you Isya? :p Sorry I just love the name and I think you did a wonderfull job on the udpate!!!! This will be a great NES....
now classes, then story.... *walks off*

To Aksum
From Addis Ababa:
Our ambitions do not involve you at the moment. Let us be at peace. And let us benefit eachother with traderoutes.

Send explorers northward to meet other nations.
Expand peacefully northward, but mainly concentrate on a militaristic expansion to the south and southwest.
Spend all economy on military.

To: Kush
From: Upper Egypt

Hail! Well met, and may great prosperity come from our relationship.

OOC:
@Everyone- A couple people have made this mistake. Projects take only time, the do not, I repeat, DO NOT, cost eco. You tell me what it does, I tell you how long. Kapeesh? Also, It would be a real help if from now one everyone included their stats in their orders.
@Fantasmo- Yep, you have contact with all of the other Chinese nations. Unfortuantelym Zhou and Shang both look down on you and you are barely on Yangzhou's level. You can, however, look down on Panlongcheng.
@Erik-Woops! Got you in there! I typed up the original update on a seperate computer and some of the parts got lost in transition. You are there now though. Also, kfvetch is spelled with an 'f'. Finally, to establish a religion and create holy city, 7 turns- resoning- You aren't a very relgious people and religion is very important, but remember, stories and random events will be extremly important in this NES so if you keep giving me good reasons to give you positive random events (stories, creativity, etc.) then the actualy time may be much less.
@Justokre-You don't have contact with Kush yet.
IC:
To Babylon
From Sumeria
The Sumerian people welcome such a generous offer! May peace reign between our nations forever!

To Babylon
From Assyria
Why should we sign suach an agreement? Why shouldn't we just march down and take what we want?

To Upper Egypt
From Kush
Greatings men of Egypt. We notice that you do not have possesion of the luxury that is ivory. We are in need of papyrus, we are also in need of money for the nomads of the desert bleed us dry. Will you not send us one eco and papyrus in exchange for elephants?

My dictionaries disagree. :p
Etymology: Yiddish kvetshn

Is that 7 BT turns? Don't worry, I'll write stories. Eventually I'll invent a pantheon, too. For now, it's just a war cult, with songs about the great heroes who have gone before. :spear: :ninja:

@Everyone-As aparent by Erik's latest post, I need to clarify my turn system. I will not be using IT/BT system, but I will also not use stagnant year amounts for turns. This first turn will be 100 years, but if everyone's orders are as borign as they seem to be, I will make the next one a little longer, than go back down. Once we get into a war, I will make turns IT short. Everyone clear?

I am Schodan, the Rememberer. Coscoma laid this honor upon me. He charged me to keep a list of the greatest heroes among us, so that their spirits would grow strong, and they would fight with us when we call upon them. These are their names and their deeds:
Lutgard the Bearded, who never shrank from battle. He was the first of these to enter the Halls, and all who come after shall look to him for guidance.
Tillo the Arm, who wielded an axe I could never hope to lift. He cut down eight men before entering the Halls and sang as he slew. Great joy was upon him and it is not lessened.
Little Karled, who was mocked for wielding a bow, but he brought wealth to our people and his aim was sure. His arrows are tokens that men carry to remind them of the Halls.
Ludwig Threefinger, truest of friends. He died when he chose to lead an assault upon the village of the Franks and was borne away to the Halls at once, for his death was swift.
Odwacar the Guard, who stood in our village. When the raiders came, he held them off at the gate until we returned. He heaped their corpses five high outside the walls of our village, and his wounds should have been mortal. But he stood long enough to fulfill his duty, and begged for the pyre that would take him away. We granted it at once, and his spirit did not leave him until we had lit the flames.

[Orders sent.]

Very cool, Erik.
Sorry about my country's lack of realism. After studying them only the tinyest bit on Wiki, I realized that Addis Ababa wasn't even founded til the late 19th or early 20th century! Meh, oh well. I'll use the excuse everyone else uses: it's an alternate reality.
But I'll try and keep it more realistic from now on ;-)
