JalNES I: Quick and Easy

Well, he grumbled to me about getting iron from egypt - it almost certainly got lost in transit, even though I wrote a nice long story about my trader's trip. Oh well.
In post 1136, Egypt agreed to sell iron to LB for 1 EP. If he sent me 1 EP he gets the iron.

Thanks Bird, and I did send 1 EP, along with my entire fleet. Dark also lent me 50 of his galleys for the turn. Still, even if they weren't used, Tartessos didn't even have a navy before.

Emphasis added. 19 Galleys + 50 Galleys Britannia sent vs. .... 0 galleys. I'm not happy.

EDIT: @ Farow - mainly because they caused me trouble when I wanted to annex them. The only reason I would slaughter them is if they pulled some incredibly prescient move, like the construction of a massive navy to attack my fleet carrying back my iron.
You shall see.... please hold off on complaining until after the update.

@NK: You're good!

EDIT: The order is moot because according to your story, Alsandair was on a voyage of discover, and it was he who arranged the purchase, not the government. In the meantime, relations with Tartessos soured, and they stopped letting communication through.

Whichever bastard invaded me will pay dearly for it, then, because I had good defensive plans for all fronts. :p

EDIT: So someone got through my sea defenses, then? Well, this shall be interesting.

Not sea as such....

Magan-Sumeria, Tartessos, and hell, someone probably invaded me.
I hope it was our Arabian friends. :mischief:

You guarded against an attack from Egypt! :eek: I thought we had an NAP. You don't trust us, I am dismayed.

You, sir, are an unknown factor, being a (relatively) new NESer, and thus, trust was never even considered; I was guarding all borders in any case. But now you've made me tenfold more watchful of your nation in the future. Congrats.

The story was specifically because you asked me to write one. Are you honestly telling me my story overwrote my order? They don't even have to overwrite each other, maybe I sent my fleet to pick it up after he arranged the purchase. And how exactly did the Tartessos stop letting communication through... without any ships?

I'll stop complaining, as you asked, until after the update.

Sorry about that.

Description: To sum up, the massacre of the Swissia tribe by the Odent led to a lone protestor joining another tribe and organizing an anti-Odent coalition. The result was the Swiss Confederation. After thousands of years of intrigue, the development of a state religion, the rise and fall of several factions, and two outlawed heresies (unfortunately, one has the support of most city people and the other of most country people), the Confederation is now in practice a centralized Kingdom (if not in theory) under a dynastic union of the two major factions, the Snipes (short for Sniper- assassins, basically) and the Warriors. They finally are able to look out on the world and expand. The other factions don't like it but can't do anything about it.

Under the gaze of Sea King spying
Royal dancers weave with those voyeurs eyeing
Naked breasts and writhing hips,
Beauty to launch a 100 ships;
Mesmerized by Egyptian beauty,
The Sea Kings dream of naught but booty,
But the lust for land and conquest's power
Can be quick to turn most sour;
Watch the dancers supple swing,
Hear the beauty of what they sing,
Long to touch their skin--just so;
There's much to Egypt you do not know.

I see that the Sea King's culture has ties to the east the very far east! We are awed by your skill even though you neglected any hint of season or nature in your regicide.

It's king-killin' season, laddie!

And do note, Jal, that my capital is fortified against sea attack, too. And that I have over 100 ships this turn.

Only have Sparta, Egypt, and Srivijaya left. Expect update tomorrow, hopefully.

Here is a story- i hope it's not too long.

A Typical Intrigue of the Days of Old:
King Jalung sighed. His empire was rife with factions. He had to keep a balance so that his own faction, the Warriors, could stay on top. His last plan to stop the priest parties that were their source of income had been scrapped due to shortage of people. But what to do now?

He looked at his "Intrigue Map". A cunning invention which had given the Warrior Caste an advantage, it had the relations between various figures within factions which could be exploited, and a list of the past deeds of every political player.

The map also had a graph showing political relations on a 1-100 scale, 100 being virtually the same faction and 1 on the scale being mortal enemies devoted solely to each other's destruction (accurate to within 10), and also a map of Sweden, as well as a map of the rising capital of Stockholm, showing the locations of all known political figures, allied and enemy.

"Snipes headed for the palace, eh? Isn't that a threat?" said King Jalung.
"Our relations with the Snipes are at 70, sir. We have nothing to worry about- we concluded an alliance” replied his adviser.
"Then who are they aiming for? The Temple is too far away to stop the latest party, and intelligence tells us that their relations with the priest caste are 50, anyway!"
"Maybe they're trying to steal the Swissian hairs."

That was a point- the noble's claim to nobility was the possession of hairs of the God Swissia when he was incarnate on earth. Stealing the Swissian hairs would be a major advantage.

"We should stop them- send 2 of my bodyguard! If the Snipes get the Swissian hairs, they could challenge me!"
"But sir- what if somebody tries to assassinate you?"
"Don't worry- we're the Warrior Caste, and only the Snipes dare take us on. Anyway, we have good relations- they'd never do that-"

Two Snipes rushed in, firing their bows. Luckily, both missed. Bodyguards rushed at them, and Jalung motioned to flee with his adviser.

"What the- our relations are supposed to be at 70!"
"Sir, remember? Our estimator was assassinated, and I’ve had to cover his job. And when I estimate on the scale, I’m accurate to within 100, plus or minus!"

King Jalung slapped himself on the head.
