JalNES I: Quick and Easy

Updates will remain at 100 years for now. At some point (either 200 BC or 1 AD), they'll go to 50 year updates. But that shouldn't matter too much--still long updates.

Lurker: Gaah. Ridiculous. One hundred years is far too long for an update in any period. I mean, in less than 15 years Alexander the Great destroyed the greatest empire in the world then built a new one. That same action permanently changed the cultural face of the world stretching Hellenic, now Hellenistic, culture from its homelands in Hellas to India. Now, how are you going to express that in turns of 100 years?

See? That is the problem.
Fine, but I'd still rather get past the iron age. :p This NES is about the sweep of history, rather than recreating faithfully any one particular period. If I did realistic time periods, I'd be at 1850 BC. And I don't want to do that.

Ultimately, I'm the mod, so if you want to play, live with it. :p

@alex- We're discussing our options.

And sorry about not playing IC. Maybe I should start following your example- sign peace with an enemy that attacked a good ally within one turn and then ally with them to get involved in something that I shouldn't eveen be involved in! :mischief:

@Luckymoose: We're discussing whether or not to make peace- continue those stupid remarks and it all go out the window. And, fyi, we're not worried about you- its all Rome's big nose.

I can't wait for the Industrial Age. :mischief:

edit: @ Darkening: just pay me my ep. 1 ep for each of you now.

You'll get squat. You must be recognizing that as you've seemed to lower it. If anything, the peace we are discussing will not be white but rather Tartessos and Iberia will have to make conseccions.

Are you ready to make peace with Egypt yet? :mischief:

Heh, it is all IC. All IC in the eyes of my Consul who can scream and tell the common people "Victory without a drop of Roman Blood! The Carthaginians have agreed to withdraw from Syracuse!" I mean, that's going to guarantee his re-election practically.

Oh yes, I forgot, you're not a Republic so you don't worry about getting re-elected ;)

I would say people have never actually died/failed as a direct result of being too cautious. And you do know that to the Chinese, a big nose is a good feature right? It means that you will be wealthy in the Chinese schemes of things. Emperor Gaozu aka Liu Bang, founder of the Han Dynasty, a farmer at birth, was said to have a massive nose ;)

Seemed to me a little bit of a case of the pot calling the kettle black there.

Do you just say random things ;) ? Anyways, its a good thing I'm not chinese ;].

But a big nose by chinese standards may not actually be very big. ;)

*repeats self*

You burned my city, slew those who sacredly gave their lives unto your hands, betrayed me, and you expect me to make peace with you monsters? Never. I would sooner make peace with Sparta than you.

Politicians, what do you expect? :p Hmm... I'm going to write a story about them and politics in Rome right now :D

Saying and doing random things is a sign of genius. I mean after all, Leonardo Da Vinci was certainly random doing things from painting pictures to designing weapons of war ;) That or all of us are just mad

@Jalapeno, a response to the diplomacy I sent to Tartessos a while ago about the possible peace with Eirehann and Brittania? :(

It was that or slavery and since there wasn't much food or water around, it seemed that a quick death would be more merciful than a slow painful one. The bad part was that I didn't really want to destroy the entire city.

Lurkers Nose Comments:

A BIG NOSE IS NOT ALWAYS LUCKY!
In Nazi Occupied Poland, a member of my family who is a survivor had a christian friend. This friend was christian, but had a large nose. He was killed by Hitler Youth in a beating because a large nose=wealth=jews.

To Eirehann, Brittannia and Tartessos
From Roman Republic

The withdrawal of your troops from the territory of Tartessos and cessation of hostilites with Tartessos is what Rome desires. Basically a white peace between Eirehann/Brittania and Tartessos and her allies. Rome will thus aid Tartessos in the rebuilding of her country. In addition, a 5 turn NAP between Tartessos and the Northern nations.

We hope this will come to a peaceful conclusion and that trade, ever more prosperous then war, can be restored to her rightful path. :)
We'd like peace very much. Northerners, please just leave our lands.

OOC: I'm not sure that needs a response from Tartessos so much as from Eirehann and Briton. :p

First Treaty of Caer Troia*

1.) A cessation of conflict will occur immediatly between the nations of Eirehann, Briton, Tartessos, Iberia, and Carthage. A mandatory NAP will be issued to last for a guarenteed four periods. Furthermore, Rome will also sign a NAP to last for four periods.

2.) Tartessos, in recompensation for returned lands and for damages occured during the Iberian Wars, will issue a payment of 2 eps. In return, Eirehann will vacate those lands issued on the treaty. Tartessos will also limit its army to a total of 5000 men and no more than 30 galleys.

3.) Iberia will pay a payment of 1 ep to Briton in exchange for peace. Further more, Iberia will be limited in its army size to a total of 5000 men- excluding naval forces (limited to 30 galleys). A NAP will be secured between Briton and Iberia.

4.) Carthage shall be paid nothing as it has no right to interfere, and should a single Carthagian soldier be spotted with 10 acres of any Briton/Eirian soldiers, said soldiers will take the authority to defend itself and counterattack the foolish agressors.

5.) A new nation, not yet named, shall be drawn from Briton held lands and shall be funded from Breiton funds. This nation shall serve as a border between Briton and Iberia and thus will remain closely allied to Briton at all times.

6.) A limit on expansion is also shown on the map, with no nation breaching the borders presented when the time comes that they once again begin to expand.

OOC:* I've yet to talk to LB, so if he refuses I will still be required to be at war.

From: Tartessos
To: Briton

Why must we pay to regain our own lands? If anything, you northerners should pay us for infrastructure damage. We will be satisfied if you simply leave.

From: Iberia
To: Briton

How, exactly, does this treaty benefit us? We do not regain our lands, and you make us pay. We will never accept this unfair treaty.
