Jeb Bush vs Hillary

His name underscores the problem that all Republican candidates have. There was no "GWBush's foreign policy." That whole mess was straight from the generic Republican platform foreign policy manual, as written by the same advisory groups that made up Romney's team and will make up the foreign policy team of whoever gets nominated this time around.

The Republican's run on "forget about Bush," but they have done nothing to change one line in the disastrous policies they want to bring back.
This.

Democrats - "Remember Bush, don't vote for a Republican because they will bring back the same agenda Bush followed"

Republicans - "Forget about Bush, he's old news... Vote for this new guy who will bring back the same agenda Bush followed"

Both parties are saying the same thing...

He'd have to have actual different advisers if he wanted actual different policies.

It does seem like a death of 1000 cuts with Hillary. The email thing would be a flea bite, except that it is built a decades old pattern of evasive behavior by both Clintons.

OTOH the Democratic pool is only ankle deep. Other than Hillary, only Elizabeth Warren has any stature and she isn't running.

Elizabeth Warren is putting aside notions of presidential electability for the foreseeable future:

Trade deal supporters have said again & again they would protect workers. The facts show decades of broken promises: http://www.warren.senate.gov/files/documents/BrokenPromises.pdf …

Perhaps Hillary's mom had a secret affair with Bill Clinton's dad.

How is it a dynasty if Chelsea Clinton isn't running for office?

The Clintons are a political couple, certainly, but not a dynasty. Think what people may of the Clintons, love them or hate them, but as pedantic as this may be as I've said before I cannot consider them a real dynasty (yet). A dynasty implies a line of power that stretches more than a generation. Chelsea is influential, sure, but she isn't a politician (for now). Would it have been more difficult for Hillary Clinton to rise to her current position if she wasn't Bill Clinton's wife? Almost certainly. Does Hillary have a large base of support, funding, and so on thanks to her husband? Obviously. But that's all there is, in terms of relations - a simple marriage does not make a dynasty. The Bushes are certainly a dynasty - they've had high-ranking politicians for, what, four or five generations now?

Alas, this knee-jerk reaction to dynastic political families in America is something that I find understandable but ultimately amusing. Political dynasties have always been around in America, like it or not. Who remembers the Adams, the Tafts, the Roosevelts, the Kennedys, the Rockefellers? These families all had way more people in their family in high positions of power than the Clintons will likely have in my lifetime. I bet you in some alternate universe we've already had four or five Kennedy Presidents. If the Clintons have to be a dynasty, then they're relatively miniscule in comparison.

But I suppose it doesn't really matter. People will view the Clintons as if they've had a century-long reign over America, and so be it.

Relevant joke from the Bill Clinton era:
Spoiler :
Bill and Hillary take a getaway to try to put the strains the presidency has put on their marriage behind them, so they are out driving through rural Arkansas. They pull into a gas station. The attendant doesn't recognize the president, but says "Hillary! Never expected to see you again!" Then he goes to pump the gas.

Bill says "Who is that?"
Hillary says "My old boyfriend from high school."
Bill says "Well, this should be a good moment. Just imagine if you had married him instead of me."

And Hillary says "Yeah. He'd be president and you'd be pumping the gas."

Yes, but entirely backward. Bill was going places. Hillary would be a disbarred attorney without him.

They were both going the same place. At the time that joke was popular it was Bill that the Repugnicants were particularly hating, because he was already there. Now that it is Hillary closing in on the presidency all of a sudden it's Bill who is the lesser evil with you guys.

Whatever works for you.

She isn't running yet. Hillary start with the Senate, so who knows what the future will bring. Jenna Bush vs Chelsea Clinton in 2028?

The Clintons might in the long term, but I share cybrxkhan's stance that dynasties require multiple generations. Maybe too much CK2?

Regarding the Bushes, the length of that dynasty depends on whether you count the Supreme Court Justice Davis in the 19th century. In more recent times, you had Senator Prescott Bush (CT), then the two presidents, and now potentially Jeb.

No. At the time they were in law school and young attorneys. Bill was going home to take up politics. Home for Hillary was Chicago and politics was Washington. Accepting an offer from an Arkansas firm was very much following Bill. No one in politics cared about either one of them yet.
