Jeb Bush vs Hillary

Why not? The Democrats do the clown car every four years. They win occasionally.

I said it in a different thread, so apologies for the repetition, but the two parties have been doing their primaries much differently for the past few decades.

The Republican primaries involve character assassination exclusively. Who cheated on their wife, or can be falsely accused of it. Who fathered and adopted an illegitimate mixed race child, or can be falsely accused of it on the eve of the primary so there is no time to disprove it. That sort of thing.

There is no substantive debate among the candidates over policies because to be a candidate in the Republican primary requires standing up for the same (demonstrably failed) economic policy and the same (demonstrably catastrophic) foreign policy. The party power brokers won't let a candidate who might challenge these positions even get started.

So once someone emerges as the sterling character, or more likely just the one least tarnished by the process, and that person goes off to the general campaign. In the general campaign they are forced to defend or deny the indefensible and undeniable. They are surrounded by economic advisers who in their previous positions advocated policies that destroyed the economy, and either they have to admit they will follow similar policies or rewrite history and explain how these advisers didn't really do that. They are surrounded by foreign policy advisers who ignored their mentor's failure in Viet Nam, engineered wars in the middle east and used their spokesman president to ram it down the nation's throat, and either have to either explain how they will ride better herd on this band of maniacs or how the wars the maniacs engineered were actually a good idea.

Then they get crushed. Jesus himself wouldn't be popular if he were standing on the current Republican platform.

I don't care how good (or bad) Hillary is, I don't care how good (or bad) Jeb Bush is. I simply don't want another Clinton-Bush election.

A Bush-Clinton election might be a wake-up call that will alert more and more Americans to the fact that they no longer have, for practical purposes, a democratic society.

Hillary will be 79 in 2016 and that's quite old for a candidate. But if her health allows it she will most likely be POTUS.

We all know we live in the era of the Bush-Clinton empire, the 8 years of Barack Obama was just a short disturbance in the dynasty that will last for generations to come.

Oh By the ways, its not like we've had more than 1 Clinton.

Who are we kidding? The economic elite have always ruled everyone, that is not a new thing and it won't change. besides Obama isn't a Bush or a Clinton and he's going to be in office as long as any Bush or Clinton.

Well he is standing on their platform... according to them at least... and he is isn't popular anymore ... according to them at least... So I guess you are right.

She will be 69, which will also be the code name of her intern.

Isn't that a Kim Carnes song, "She's got Ronald Reagan age."?

Obama isn't a Bush or a Clinton and he's going to be in office as long as any Bush or Clinton.

That sums him up. Well done.

In what could be a potentially troubling barrier in Jeb Bush's presidential ambitions, an influential conservative group with a network of more than 7 million conservative activists has declared the former Florida governor "unelectable."

ForAmerica, which describes itself as "an online army" of conservatives led by longtime activist Brent Bozell, released a one minute video to its network Thursday morning that shows Bush praising former Secretary of State and potential presidential challenger Hillary Clinton.

The archived footage in the video dated September 10, 2013 is of Bush presenting Clinton an award for a lifetime of public service. At the awards ceremony, Bush thanked Clinton for her service, saying "we are united by a love of country and public service." The video then cuts to a black screen with red and white text saying the award was given to Clinton on the eve of the first anniversary of the Benghazi attacks. Conservatives blame Clinton for lack of security at the American compound where four Americans were killed.

While Bush is a top contender among the Republican donor class, grassroots activists within the Republican Party have expressed concern about a Bush presidency. Activists point to his support for immigration reform and for education standards called Common Core.

"As it stands, Jeb has absolutely no credibility to criticize (Clinton) because he has already anointed her as a great public servant; and he inexplicably did so almost a year to the day of the Benghazi massacre," Bozell said in a statement. "He will lose, and the public will have to suffer at least another four years of Obama's policies - and anything worse she has in store for America."

The National Constitution Center, a museum "dedicated to non-partisan constitutional education and debate" gave Clinton the award.

"I want to say a special thank you to Governor Bush," Clinton said in the video during the award ceremony.

"Hillary will use this event to blunt any criticism that Bush levels against her," the text says in the video. "Jeb Bush: unelectable."

The results will be the same whether or not the nepotists win or not. The US will still be getting an invading, subsidizing, droning, spying (etc) executive.

Dont worry the Bush had Karl Rove.
A few "Illegitimate black child", "secret Muslim Kenyan" and "Swiftboat" will secure Bushs nomination.

Old Karl isn't the asset he used to be. Too much tar on that baby after the GWBush gang overused his tactics and got caught at it, which alienated everyone with sense. Then the great meltdown of 2012 turned the FoxNews audience against him so now associating with him carries huge penalties across the board.

In a hypothetical Clinton / Bush 2016 election, Bush will not lose any votes to Clinton from people angry over Benghazi. Handing over that award may be relevant for the primary, but not in the general.

People angry over Benghazi...there's a lunatic demographic that any candidate can afford to let go of.

The angry Benghazi people didn't have much influence in 2012 and will have even less in 2016.
