JFD's The World According to Modders

Did you just... Recognize my work? :D
Speaking of which:

St. Natansburg(Natan the Bold)
UA: Favorite Worst Nightmare
Declarations of friendship and defensive pacts grant +10% :c5production: production for both civs as well as +1 :c5happy: happiness for each wonder the other civ completed during them (bonus stacks). Receive an appropriate bonus upon completing things for the first time.

UB: Tablet
Replaces library. Has no maintenance cost. Units trained in the city will start with additional XP and the "inb4 the class" promotion, granting :c5goldenage: golden age points from leveling up and killing equal to the building's output. Grants :c5science: science equal to the city's local :c5happy: happiness during golden ages.

UU: Overseer
Replaces great general, with a major difference: it may not found citadels, but it may build and repair normal improvements. When adjacent to a city with less than 10 HP, it may be consumed to puppet it while retaining all of its buildings, including unique ones.

I also have an alternate design, this one relates to my personal life rather than to the at I play IMO.

Getting a look at Natan's IRL life?

Love it.

On another note, similar to DJS, i would prefer it if someone else came up with my design. I'm just having trouble representing myself.

Well, to be fair, it has the some references to my play style as well: the tablet UB is based of, well, my tablet (which I use for civ designing and research) but the UA is a combination if various ideas you guys had for my UA.
(The name obviously references the arctic monkeys album)

Love it.

Thanks! :)

I have to concede, it's pretty hard to come up with something for yourself. Hence why I got TPangs to help me and helped him...

Still, nobody knows you like you know yourself ;)
But then again, it's kind of impossible to know yourself what you're known for, if that makes any sense :P

*searches for metal cover of Mario theme for Typhlomence*
If you want to give me a metal cover of a Mario theme... "Nemesis" on this page is a metal version of one of Bowser's boss themes. "Shell Rider" is a cover of the original SMB theme (apparently it's "skate punk", whatever that is).

After considering stuff like the third city from all the CL civs, I eventually settled on cool-sounding suburbs from the Brisbane area. Then I got bored and decided to just use the Western Suburbs and start with the coolest name.
Well, if you're going to be Brisbane, I guess that means I can't have that as my capital or TSL location (if you're starting there too). :p

Oh, right, sorry :P
I can find somewhere else if you want.

You know, you could always call your capital Mushroom Kingdom and have your TSL be Nimbin...

Are people making their home town into their capital?

Wait, wait... you're in Australia? For some reason I always thought you were in Europe. >.<;;

(Shows what I know about time zones...)

I'm pretty sure I'm not known for anything, so I'm just going to try to make a civ design based on what I know of myself. XD

Hey JFD, are you adding any unique Wonders or resources in the mod? I guess since it's mostly a set of separate civs, there isn't going to be any base game modding, but as I was brainstorming I did wonder if you'd have certain city-states produce Art Assets or Unit Models as unique luxuries. :P Alternatively, some of the really big or notable modpacks (such as Enlightenment Era or Faerun) could serve as new Wonders...

Then again, that's just adding another layer of additional work on top of everything else.

Oh, right, sorry :P

It's fine, you picked Brisbane first, and I don't actually mind. Hey, I'm just happy to have someone else from Brisbane around :) (technically I don't live in Brisbane, rather somewhere close to it, but I don't want to broadcast my exact location to the world!)

*looks up Nimbin*
Wikipedia said:
Nimbin has been described in literature and mainstream media as 'the drug capital of Australia', 'a social experiment' and 'an escapist sub-culture'.

If I did go with the capital of my first mod civ, that would be Walmington-on-Sea which is in England (it is a fictional location, but it's said to be near Dover).

Wait, wait... you're in Australia? For some reason I always thought you were in Europe. >.<;;
*looks to the user information to the left* or maybe you just failed a spot check. :p

Natural 1.

Made a new atlas for me because I'm fickle and decided I liked the leaderscene picture more:

EDIT: Also remembered an alpha :P

People know what Gazebo's war theme is, right? People here are cool, right? :p

Ok, so here's Da Rulez (will put in OP):

If you want to be included as a civ, you need only ask, but the priority at which you'll be included is increased with the following:
  • Those with actual Civilizations - your city list derives from the capitals of each, so the more of these, the better.
  • Those who propose their own designs, including uniques, UA, Decisions.*
  • Those who propose their own art, including Leaderscene, map, civ icon, etc.
  • Those who code their own designs.

*Generally, designs take two uniques from across your civ mods, and come up with an original UA. Don't consider Gazebo or Whoward a precedent for unique everything, although you're free to make unique everything anyway.

Of course, you'll typically come after the original civs are re-added. Confirmed new civs, for when I originally intended to re-make this mod a year ago, include: Rawsasquatch, AgressiveWimp, Danmacsch, Tarscicio, DJSHenninger, Hypereon, senshidenshi, and ViceVirtuoso. I was going to have Neirai, too, but TP's new map has asserted his primacy over Neirai :D

Ah ah I'd just have a look at this. you'll make expansions and all...Does it add specific technologies like "LUA knowledge" or a "Photoshop" wonder? I have to say that for my civilizations the discovery of WHoward's Pick'N'Mix Mods DDS converter is really an improvement!

So, here's something..

UA: n'th Ragusa revision
When producing a Building for the first time earn Golden Age Points equal to the Production Cost of the Building. Buildings constructed during Golden Ages yield additional +2 Culture.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
UU: Print Statement (Caravel)
Cheaper than the Caravel it replaces, the Print Statement grants +2 Production when garrisoned in a city. Additionally, it reduces enemy City Production by 25% and enemy Unit Movement by 50% within a two tile radius. This effect is not stackable. Does not obsolete.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
UB: KanUHelpMeOut (Castle)
Does not require Walls, but if constructed in a City without, the KanUHelpMeOut is instantly destroyed again. This grants a permanent +1 Happiness and any garrisoned Unit receive a huge XP boost. May be done multiple times, but the +1 Happiness is only granted the first time.
