JustokreNES

Hey everyone, I'd like to join and would like the area shown in red on this map. It's on the eastern continent, near the equator, and the civilization sits between the lake and that large bay.

I will attach the filled out template here in an update this evening.

Just FYI, that continent is going to be considered about twice as far away from how it looks on the map. You may feel lonely if no other players join over there. If that's the case, I'll try and keep it interesting for you with NPCs until other players join.

I will write a nicer history of Nugai and connect it with Tyrica, the immigration and the city states soon. I'm certain Deusselkerr will like it.

I'll take one of the larger islands on the somewhat Japanese looking chain near the map center. Hopefully I'll have a nation up today.

Location
http://http://i.imgur.com/3k2KmYo.jpg a tropical island in the archipelago to the east of the central continent
State/Player: Timurayam/Nivyi
Government: Tyranny, decently stable
Economy: Exports: Tea, rice, and jade Imports: goods
Military: Our 'military" is mostly just axeman and spear throwers
Religions: The people of Timurayam worship the religion/philosophy of Palanism, a religion/philosophy based upon a path that all people should take for enlightenment.
Tech-Edu: bronze age, 96% illiterate, only a small class of priests can read.
Other Info: Tima people have been living on their islands for centuries. living a mostly hunter-gatherer lifestyle until now hunting water buffalo and picking wild berries. but now, a large climate change event killed a lot of their major food sources made them go to an agrarian life ruled by rice and millet.
The capital of Timurayam is Bakartan

@Nivyi: First welcome to NESing :D, Second I'm pretty sure the area you asked for is the one I just asked for. I'm will to share the chain but be warned I'm probably not going to have the most friendly nation.

Climate map is done. I'll start work on the political map and update tonight.

Wait so I should submit my nation already? Just a bit, will do asap.

As per claimed in my post on Page One, I like North King's color and outline.

These are my entry details:

State/Player: Kechyk/Angst
Government: decent stability
Economy: Mostly based upon seasonal flooding of the Sheine river systems. Copper trade from sites in the eastern mountains is also plentiful, and the Kechyk serve as middlemen along a north-south axis of the two rivers tying the northern and southern seas together in trade.
Military: The Kechyk utilize a combination of light and heavy spear formations, where the heavy infantry is heavily protected, forming the center of a unit while light infantry skirmishes the flank. Light infantry serves as the central tactical object. Their important flanking towards other infantry is managed by first breaking formations with throwing darts and then awaiting chariots to move in and finish, while, when facing chariots themselves, the army relies on a more steady composition of lightly armored longspears. As such, the loose dart-salve-and-chariot-break infantry are more utilized against infantry formations while facing heavy cavalry force them to utilize longspear flanks.
Religions: The Kechyk have two different pantheons that are theologically considered part of the same cosmology. One pantheon represents our world and is animistic, believing that all kinds entities, from stone to cow to human to the bemythed Sheinchekyle (Kind of a great sea serpent living in the Sheine river). The other pantheon represents the spiritual world and is composed of mute gods speaking with each other through colors.
Tech-Edu: bronze age, 99% illiterate
Other Info:

Capital name is Neikyl. Government is tyrannial monarchy (god-king) supported by a powerful caste of priest-politicians.

I'd like a color that isn't neonish. Cyan, teal, magenta-pink or orange doesn't work for me. Pale violet or pale yellow, dark red or blue, however... That'd be lovely.

Oh, it should be noted that I do want a gold color for my country (note: gold, not yellow [R238, G207, B0]). ;)

(Sorry for all the OOC!)

State/Player: Ushanij/merciary
Government: decent stability
Economy:
Military:
Religions: Ushanij Pantheon: A variety of Deities with the most important one being Huvak the god of Combat and Victory
Tech-Edu: bronze age, 99% illiterate
Other Info: The Ushnij were once a loose collection of villages living on the island of Ushan until a warlord claiming to be the Huvak-coi, or the Chosen of Huvak, conquered all of the villages several generations ago. Since then his descendents have ruled under the title Huvak-coi as the supreme sovereign of the Ushanij. When the old Huvak-coi dies all of his children and there are often quite a few as the Huvak-coi takes many concubines, male and female are gathered in an arena where they fight for the right to be Huvak-coi. The combat last until all but one concede or are unable to continue fighting. All of those who lose no longer have a claim to the title, but generally end up in well off positions in the new Huvak-coi's court.

While the the Huvak-coi is the supreme ruler of the Ushanij the authorities that most Ushanij deal with are the warrior-nobles that serve under him(or her). These nobles are quite similar to feudal nobles reigning over an area but the main difference is that their right to the land is not for certain. According to Ushanij custom all lands and coasts belong to the Huvak-coi while the nobles rule in his place. One's place is dependent upon one's relationship with the Huvak-coi, if one is a close friend of the Huvak-coi or provides grand tributes they can expect to see their power rise however if they offend the Huvak-coi or produce meager tribute they are likely to see lands taken from them. While most nobles are descendents of the original Huvak-coi's trusted warriors and offshoots of the Hovak-coi's line it is possible for a commoner to rise to the rank of noble if they prove themselves on the field of battle or can somehow produce sufficient tribute.

Most of the Ushanij economy comes from the sea as while farming is possible, and is quite common, the lack of abundant land prevent it from being the main source of food. Attempts at mining and quarrying have been made but have yet to be fulling invested in.

State/Player: The Likanae Peoples/Terrance888
Government: Caste System : decent stability
Economy: Farming with Elephants. And perhaps an Ivory Trade from old Elephants.
Military: What is this "Military"? Do we need to fight? Why don't we talk like adults? Why don't we get a Shaman to help?
Religions: The world consists of three parallel planes known to man, and thousands unknown.
The first world is that of death. Everything that is a thing: be it a rock, an animal, a body, belongs in this world called "Likanae".
The second world is that of spirit. All things which move by themselves are those which belong in the Likanae which are enabled and moved by the spirits that dwell in the world of "Gemirae". The flowing river, the moving clouds, the animals and the people are all Gemirae.
The third world is that of soul. Things which think, which feel, which know dwell in the "Junirae". People are the most common dwellers of the Junirae, although highly devoted Gemirae may be empowered to visit the land of Junirae. Aged and trained Elephants are also considered fellow travelers of the Junirae.
Above the Junirae, some begin to postulate higher planes of existance, but these are yet on the fringes of Likanae society.
The Junirae carry totems which represent their Gemirae. These totems may take the form of piercings, tattoos, or, for the most powerful, staffs and scepters. Shamans use the Totems to connect the Junirae to the world of the Gemirae.
When one of the Junirae dies before the Likanae fails, the body's Gemirae may yet survive for a long slow death. Therefore, murder is considered a most grevious offense in Likanae society.
Tech-Edu: bronze age, 99% illiterate
Other Info: Pacifists. Philosophers. Farmers. Highly spiritual and thoughtful.
Location: Just north of Hiukuni on one of the River-Forks. NOT coastal.

To merciary, erez87, Terrance888 and anyone else relevant:
What is the name of your capital?

To Lord of Elves
How centralized would you say that Quaramat is? Right now I have mostly centralized.

To all:
Is everyone alright with Timurayam being the only country to have writing? Send me something if you want to your folks to have a writing system. Doesn't have to be anything big and fancy.

To Nivyi:
Unfortunately Timurayam is a bit too remote to be importing wine, gold, bronze, and horses. That time is not too far away however. Tyrica looks like they'll be the first to accomplish that.

Here is an in-progress map. Grey represents concentrated populations of humans. If anyone adds their nation before the first update, they are in.

Seems fine to me if they start with writing, though are we allowed to start with other techs?

Let's call the capital Nohajek.

Is it okay to develop writing in the first few turns? :)
I'm ok with it. Time period is 3500BC OTL. According to Wikipedia, writing was developed first in Sumer in 3200BC. It's realistic as we have it, I just wanted to bring it to people's attention.

My nation's name is Kechyk in case you missed it.
Oh yeah, no worries. It'll be on the extra map. I was just putting that up real fast.

Possibly. All depends on what technology you're asking about. Think of the world as roughly equivalent to 3500BC technology.

It is the bronze age, so it's pretty certain that you have bronze if available. I think I have chariots myself too and if you consider domestic/religious developments techs too, then sure, that as well.

The Quaramat government is "mostly centralized", yes, inasmuch as power is held among a group of people whose interests are largely aligned. I'd say your stat is accurate.
