K 7 - The Zany 'Zerkers' (thanx to meldor)

Hey all, what happened to this game?!?
I've been checking every so often and nothing.
I know cg dropped out, and we did have some holidays, but nothing? I had some free time and no active SG to play :cry:

Well, I did finish 2 solo games, Ottomans and Spain, both Conquest victories - I have been inspired towards bloodlust.

JR, you out there? No post from you since Dec 14th - 3 weeks ago. You've got to let us know what is up when you will be absent.

Killer, I've seen you post elsewhere, how about some direction?
 
OK, JR seems to have been snowed in over Xmas, cg is out. This means we are down to 3......

I asked/will ask meli and anarres if they want to join. Until then

Thanks Killer, not to contradict you but I think meldor went before me, that would put you up and me on deck.

It should be a fun set of turns, lots of 'zerks and galleys and no muskets yet on the scene.
 
I guess the current line up would then be:

Actually, this game should be entering the final stages. We have access to everyone and a bunch of eager 'Zerkers. We should be able to peal them like potatos, especially with the slow tech rate. The 'Zerkers can be effective even after pikes appear.
 
I agree meldor, the only thing slowing us down at the moment is distance. 'Zerks were going through pikes like butter on my turn and I think they will do fine agains muskets, they attack the same as cav's afterall and I don't think the AI takes the amphibious thing into account.
 
I asked meli if he wants to join, and got a tentative yes.

I'll play, then him, then meldor and gothmog.

anarres might join, too - haven't reached him yet.

I inserted meli where he is so he doesn't get thrown into deep water rigth away and doesn't have to wait too long.
 
(1) Amatikulu is ours; I decide to keep it despite two stacks of Impi/Swordsmen just outside the radius.

(2) The Zulu troops run away :confused: A daring attack against Infantry fortified near Amitalku makes Brego of the Mark favous as a great leader. He embarks on a Galley to report on the battle back home.

(3) Zulu bring forces to Amatikulu - but only Impi! Tugela ours.

(4) Comfortable 11 turns to Theology. This game is one level too easy. Now there are significant troops next to Amatikulu and we will play burnt earth :lol: or maybe better give it back and retake it????? Move troops out. Our town New Ulundi has spices, btw :mwaha:

(5) The Zulu have Amatikulu back - big thing marching into an empty city. The do not even begin to supect what I have in store for them: 'Gothmog's best wishes' - a bunch of Zerkers will retake the town, then land next to Zimbabwe once the Zulu move their troops out to capture Amatikulu back. New Mpondo has spices, too ;).

(6) New Swazi falls. Berserk production grinds to a sudden halt as Cathedral foundations are laid down all over the land.

(7) New Tugela ours. Amatikulu ours, again. Zulu troops will go there next turn - and the invasion army going for Zimbabwe can land. Landing two Zerkers close to Zulu iron on east coast. The other one can be controlled by taking ulundi. I decide that we need more luxuries. Sorry, Abe.

(8) Shaka does what i expected and masses troops on mountains next to Amatikulu. bad luck for him: the hill straight east from Zimbabwe can't be reached in 1 turn :D. The Pillaging Party (PP) reaches iron. Move troops out of Amatikulu again.

(9) PP kills attacking MDI, does what is supposed to do. Only 1 (elite :() zerker dies taking Ziwbabwe. Saka is F-ed and we control Great Wall now. I keep the town as there is no immediate risk of re-capture and it will not flip this turn.

(10) Counterattack kills 1 exposed Zerk. Take Amatikulu again. We also control new Intombe now.

(11) the onslaught on Amatikulu will start. i decide to abandon it - it has served its purpose. Temple done in Zimbabwe, Walls rushed. The northern tip of zululand is cleaned out by cross-country excursions except for new Ngome.

(12) the zulu pass on trying to retake their ex-capital. They are collapsing fast in the norht, too.

(13) refounded Swazi is no more, Zunguin is ours.

(14) Ibabanago ours. isipezi, too. Start attacking SF

(15) could kill huge Impi/Sword stack or advance on Isandhl... Decide to kill first, conquer later :lol:

(16) the number of troops in SF is incredible. Tromso has barracks now as a healing centre. We have Ulundi.

(17) not much left of Zulu: the new capital, a twon taken from india, Bapdei and Hlobane.....

(18) take SF - after killing about 20 defenders all in all. The Zulu retreat towards Hlobane/Intombe.

(20) godamn 1 too many defenders in Indus. Will play one mroe turn

(21) Palcae rushed in Entremont. America id bleeding itself against SF, but an Archer (!) managed to kill a Musketman there! A few Temples rushed as the flip risk to Zulu is now zero :lol:




I think Newcastle (Liz only iron!) would make a nivce target, or maybe the Mongols. Some Zerks are on 5 Galley on the norhter tip of Zululand for these tasks.

I got a chance to play some on this one last night and spent the opening rounds getting troops into position to declare war on almost everyone again.......never leave a Zerker in the hands of a certified warmonger, and especially not boat loads of them......what were you thinking?
 
1310 AD (Pre-turn)
Wake up units in America to get rid of mini-SoD. Get a GL. Switch San Fran to barracks and rush it. I will use the GL to rush a Market next turn. Rush a bunch of temples.

1315 AD (1)
We capture Ulaanbaatar and Tabriz.

1320 AD (2)
Sell of improvements and then abandon Tabriz. Kill off American units. Auto-raze Dahran. rush a settler to take its place.

1325 AD (3)
Capture Ganges, oops, that was Indian. Liberate Jaipur. A hostile takeover in Junjab. Hovd is taken. Sell off buildings and abandon Ulaanbaatar.
(I) We get Chivalry.

1330 AD (4)
Kill off last two American offensive units. Push out from San Fran. Kill off Indian MDIs. Movement.
(I) Acck! The Mongols retake Hovd.

1335 AD (5)
Raze Hovd. Capture Madras. The Mongos have built two new cities. This is good as it reduces the pop in their other cities.

1340 AD (6)
Bangal is ours. Almarikh is taken. Chicago becomes a new holding bringing dyes with it.

1345 AD (7)
Calcutta is captured. Sell off the buildings in Almarikh and abandon it.

1350 AD (8)
Raze Karakorum. Hostile take over in Bangalore.

1355 AD (9)
Philadelphia is taken.

1360 AD (10)
Lahore is captured. Dalandzadgad is razed. Mandalgovi is destroyed. Karachi get a hostile take over. Seattle is added to our empire. The Mongols are down to two cities. India is down to 5 cities. America is down to six. India is the only one left with any units to speak of. We complete the Sistine Chapel.

Fresh from victory our troops accidently capture the town of Canterbury.

1370 AD (12)
A boring turn of movement.

1375 AD (13)
Pune is captured. Warwick is liberated. New York is brought under our control.

1380 AD (14)
Newcastle is ours.

1385 AD (15)
York is captured.

1390 AD (16)
Kazan is taken. Peace with India for 32g and 22gpt, they pay of course.

1395 AD (17)
Movement and resting.

Lots of units on the way for both England and America. The units are in place to finish off Mongolia.
This one shouldn't get back to me.
