KA01B - A Simple Deity Space Race - PtW Roster

Here is >>THE SAVE<<

1050AD: Preturn continued.

Capture Dover with the loss of 4 cavalry.
MM Pamplona to get Palace in 10. Yes I know we have a leader.
Buy 3 workers off France for 290g

Radio to Gandhi for Mass Production + 78g +78gpt +WM
Radio to Japan for Spices and 759g

IBT:
Lose a couple of units to Sipahi.
Sign peace with America.

1060AD:
Abandon York and found Alcoron in its place so I can get to Entremont.
Bombard it with 20 Artillery. Didn't make a dent on the garrison. I really want rid of

this city, but it is impossible. 2nd level war weariness is in and I would have to raise the lux slider to 50% to make a reasonable dent.
I take peace and Osman pays us 23gpt. He has no gold.
Found Burgos to fill a gap. Need a few more settlers really.

IBT:
Flight comes in. Start Motorised Transport at a comfortable 4 turns.
Americans capture Ibabanango from the English.

1070AD:
Founded a town.
Pretty Quiet.

1080AD:
Very Quiet

IBT:
Ottomans and England sign Peace.
Celts and France sign a peace treaty.

1090AD:
A lot of deals expire. I need to sell something.
Steel to Iroquois for gems.
Flight to Japan for 150g + 332gpt

1100AD:
Quiet again.
France is a polluted Hell Hole. I think it's because I keep buying her workers.

IBT:
MT comes in, but we can only research Fission in 7 turns.

1110AD:
Quiet

1120AD:
We will need to rush research labs I think.

IBT:
India and Ottomans sign an MPP
JApan and Celts sign peace.
India declares war on France.

1130AD:
Quiet

IBT:
Japan and Iroquois sign peace.

1140 and 1150 were quiet.
Here is our new territory.

Guess who got to the end of turn 4 and then realised he should have been playing in PTW? :p

I guess the clue was in the title.

The pRNG wasn't quite so kind second time round, but I got to roughly the same place I think.

Fine round. :goodjob: It's no surprise we couldn't take Entremont. Cav-versus-inf attacks only work against size 7+ cities when backed up by a lot more artillery than we've got.

Bed Head, you're up.

Got it, will finish over the weekend. Can try for Saturday night if the next player would rather pick it up on the weekend.

:cringe: That's painful, those must've been some loooong turns too.

It's good that the world got quieter, we need those AI researching for us. We need to do better than 4-turn per tech.

Well we can gift the Ottomans into the modern age, and it would have been the bravest thing to do, particularly since they would have no chance of a UN win.

I thought that the rather more obvious route would be to build the UN first then gift Osman to the MA and buy his rocketry (probably) for fission and then gift Ghandi and Tokugawa to parity.

IT - France and Ottomans make peace.

1160 AD (1) - I realize that if we want to beat Kemal's time, I have to finish this up for us. Somehow that doesn't seem likely. Move around some of our fortified troops to eliminate flip risks everywhere, and disband some obsoletes that don't seem to have any reason for still being around. Free up 18gpt.

IT - We lose our source of coal.

1170 AD (2) - Golden Age is over. I didn't even realize it had still been going. Luckily it doesn't screw up our Fission research. Ottomans make it into MA on their own, and pick up Fission. Pay them Furs and 35gpt for Wines. India is in MA as well, so I gift Japan in. What the heck, France too. Joining native workers as they become unnecessary.

1180 AD (3) - Fission learned, start Computers. Best we can do is 8. Don't really see any reason to keep Fission a secret. Well, at least when another nation is willing to give us coal to finish up railroading our new territory.

1190 AD (4) - Don't really see the need for all the unit builds at this point, so I switch some to wealth. Also realize that the stupid AI will probably waste their time on Amphibious Warfare, so I gift that to all that I can. Oh, and I guess I ought to rush the UN.

IT - English destroyed. oh well, they were useless at this point anyway.

1200 AD (5) - Let's hold that UN vote. I really think we can win.

1210 AD (6) - Changing libraries to courts. Libraries don't do much good at max corruption, and if we wanted culture we'd go for temples.

1220 AD (7) - Forgot that courthouses are more effective in Conquests.

1230 AD (8) - mad-bax mentioned buying workers from France. Just to keep tradition alive, I give them Fission for five workers and a few hundred gold.

1240 AD (9) - Workers are finishing up most everything, but I have never liked tundra stuff. Doing forest chops, no replants, and just railroading. They could be reforested or mined.

IT - Ottomans declare on France

1250 AD (10) - Doesn't look like the Ottomans got anything, but the Indians did get Besancon. Nothing exciting at home. Poor Joan, though, with shaved head and army shirt. How fitting, with half the world at war with here. Oh, we also lost Spices interturn, but I don't know from where and I haven't gotten them back. Stark contrast in terms of excitement to last ten turns.

I haven't had time to look at the save, but that sounds good. :goodjob:

Kaiser Berger, you're up.

Save

Preturn- We look good. I prepare small prebuilds in many cities for research labs.

IT- We learn Computers. I set us to Rocketry, due in 8.

T1 1255

Many research labs rushed.

IT-zzz

T2 1260

We gain one turn of research from all the research labs.

IT- zzz

T3 1265

I trade around our tech lead and get gold out of it. Maybe one of these clowns can pick up a tech for us.

IT- zzz

T4 1270

Nothing

T7 1785

We have Rocketry. Set to Space Flight in 8.

The Ottomans and Indians come through for us and get Ecology! I notice they also have Rocketry. I should have gone for Minaturization, and we could have traded for both.

T8 1290

France is nearly gone.

T10 1300

France and Ottomans sign peace.

Summary

SETI is 4 turns from completion in Madrid. I just started a prebuild for Apollo in Pamplona.

1300 (0): I put 66 scientists to work in corrupt cities. This would work better in Conquests, but it might save us a turn or two before the end.

Atomic Theory to the Iroquois for 36 gpt, 78g, and their WM. Computers to the Japanese for 2 gpt, 772g, and their WM.

The Ottomans are building SETI.

1305 (1): Iron, furs, and incense to the Japanese for silks (renewal).

Rouen aqueduct --> research lab.

Palma university (rushed) --> research lab.

1310 (2): I begin irrigating every mined flatland tile belonging to our completely corrupt cities, which is essential to getting as much value as possible out of such towns.

Elche university (rushed) --> RL.

Furs and 40 gpt to the Ottomans for wines (renewal).

1315 (3): Electronics to the Iroquois for coal and 58g (renewal).

Space Flight due in one turn, but only if science remains at 100%.

I merge three native workers into Birmingham, and one into Cadiz.

Space Flight --> Superconductor, due in seven turns at 100% science.

Madrid SETI --> Manhattan Project (as pre-build for SS engine).

We get a palace expansion.

Global warming turns a forest outside Warwick into tundra.

1320 (4): Space Flight to India for Ecology, 96 gpt, 281g, and WM.

Ecology to the Aztecs for 45 gpt, 57g, and WM.

Ecology to Japan for 12g and WM.

Space Flight to the Ottomans for 29 gpt, 547g, and WM.

Palma RL (rushed) --> commercial dock.

Ciudad Manana aqueduct --> harbour.

1325 (5): Birmingham RL (rushed) --> wealth.

1330 (6): I merge five native workers into Ciudad Manana.

We accept a deeply consequential American offer to trade territory maps. ;)

And in Pamplona:

Cadiz RL (rushed) --> marketplace.

1335 (7): I decline to hold UN elections.

I merge four native workers into Seville and one into Rouen.

The Indians and the French make peace. So do the Ottomans and the Japanese.

Valencia SS COCKPIT --> wealth, Zaragossa SS DOCKING BAY --> wealth.

1340 (8): Atomic Theory to America for 30 gpt, 227g, and WM.

Magnetism to the Celts for a worker and 18g.

The Celts and the Americans make peace.

Ciudad Manana harbour --> wealth.

1345 (9): I merge two native workers into Cadiz.

The Indians eliminate the Celts.

1350 (10): Science rate down to 30%, Superconductor still due in one turn.

I merge native workers into Cordoba and Murcia.

Toledo's coal plant is a pre-build for SS fuel cells, and Pamplona's palace is a pre-build for SS life support, so both should be switched after we discover Superconductor this interturn.

We need another four techs, not counting Superconductor. We can research them ourselves in about six turns each at 100% science. I think there's a reasonable chance that our rivals will discover one more tech for us--perhaps Synthetic Fibres, though I don't know a lot about which techs the AI civs favour at this stage. There are no techs we don't have in circulation at the moment.

As long as we aren't sneak-attacked, the only remaining challenge will be to get the pre-builds right, so that we can launch the spaceship as soon as we discover the final tech.

Over to you, Ainwood.

We're finally building that SS! [dance] Now let's cross our fingers for Synth Fibers of the Ottos....

There is a spreadsheet around on the forums somewhere that's supposed to tell you what the AI most likely is going to research, but I don't know whther that's goes all the way to the Modern Age. I'll hunt around for it.

edit: Found it, the spreadsheet is on the third page somewhere, I'll try to fill it in using the save (it's a bit complicated, so I hope I do it right).

edit2: OK, the sheet gives the highest probability for Mini, and after that Synth comes second, Recycling 3rd. The odds are roughly 8:6:3. This depends on the research speed however, the bigger it is the smaller the difference between Mini and Synth, sooo.... let's hope Otto is building lots of RLs!

Thanks for the link--most useful. :goodjob:

As Found: All looks good, hit enter.

IT:
Learn Superconductor, change pre-builds as recommended.
Ottomans complete Manhatten Project.
On the assumption that the AI will go for sattelites (6 at 100%).

Turn 1: 1355 AD
There are a few spaces around, so I happily build another city.
Clean up some pollution.
Interestingly, India are in anarchy.

IT:
Complete SS Engine, fuel cells and life-support. Start a couple of pre-builds.
Lose Spices, and losts of GPT deals. Now -88 GPT.

Turn 2: 1360 AD
I figure that everyone now has a bit of cash.
I trade Japan spices and 12 GPT for uranium and rocketry.
Aztecs pay 100 GPT for rocketry, Iroquois 26 GPT for the same.
Get 14 GPT from america for some backward tech, and gift them a few more.

I figure that we now have no deals with france (last one has expired), so we can attack them to reduce tech costs.
I declare, and bombard Lyon down to size 6, with two infantry and a rifleman red-lined. I then find a couple of elite cav to attack with, and when the final one wipes out the last remnants of the French from this world, he is rewarded with promotion, and a great leader is born!

Turn 3: 1365:
Rush a library in lyons (no real reason).
Clean up some pollution.
With an eye on the clock, I gift Iroquois, Aztecs and Japan up to parity except for superconductor (which I keep to trade).

Turn 4: 1370 AD:
Stupid me - gems deal with Iroquois expires (should have traded this turn rather than gifted last).
Trade him uranium for it.
Rush a few improvements for short-term cash-flow.

Turn 5: 1375 AD:
We're two turns from sattelites. Madrid's pre-build looks OK. Still no other techs for sale.

Turn 6:
Back off research to get sattelites in one next turn.

Turn 7:
Get Sattelites, and change pre-build, get SS Thrusters.
India has come to the party and finished synthetic fibres. Straight swap for Superconductor, and we are now building three more spaceship parts!
We now need the "LASER", so start nuclear power.
A check seems to indicate that the AI will pay maximum for any of sattelites, synthetic fibres of superconductor, so I <hope> it means that they aren't researching one of these. I decide not to trade, because it won't help for the current project. Note that this is all on the assumption that the amount they'll pay is the max they have, and that that + current research > tech value....

Turn 8: 1390 AD:
I decide against UN Elections.
Move some troops to defend Madrid, in case the AI decides to destroy our spaceship (simple deterant).

Turn 9:
Complete Storage / supply.

Turn 10: 1400 AD:
We will have the statis chamber and the exterior casing ready next turn. We are 3 turns from nuclear power, and presumably another 6 or 7 from the Laser. Best that we can hope for is for nulcear power to be discovered next turn.

Cities on building can go to wealth which might eeek us one turn faster if we're really lucky, as we have a GL to rush the party lounge (don't think you can rush with leader inter-turn, can you?) He is in Valencia, which is on a palace pre-build.

However it works out, whoever goes next will finish it for us, so "Well done, team". :goodjob:
