The Grand Update!
of Pre-ness

The clock ticks. The sands of time sift. Time, the ever moving giant. His foot falls echoes of the great things in history. They great battles. Triumphs. Failures. The monuments made and broken. The great men and women of history. All but huffs and puffs of him. For this moment however we will look at a certain puff, or huff. This huff is of a new world. This breath of deep cold refreshing air is the beginning of mankind and of civilization. Sparks of these are seen all through out this world, Earth. Like clockwork they start, and like a clock, so shall we view them.

The Unstaa. A simple fishing people who busy themselves with trading their catch for whatever they might need. They settled nicely on the coast of a new land, hoping to find bigger and better fish, and so they did. Though the uncivilized people they faced on this new coast were a bit weary of their arrival, and of the somewhat odd color of their skin things seemed to go smoothly. It wasn’t common to see Africans this far north but it wasn’t uncommon either so a mutual trust developed quickly. Of course this was helped not without the help of some delicious fish willingly provided by the Unstaa. A “gift” as King Jaf put it. The Unstaa themselves are not solely of darker inclinations. The nation as a whole, being a primarily costa and trading based nation has seen its share of mixing and all of it without any fuss.

Another spark of civilization, and perhaps a brutal spark, arises from a rag-tag group of warriors, the Lig’ria. Originally called the Ligurians, these people faced a harsh life during the Celtic (ack have to use OTL names) invasion of their homeland. Left desolate, the majority of the Ligurians, lead by the Council of Ten, make haste south across the seas. Storms brewed and almost destroyed their meek fleet of wooden ships. Half their ships were destroyed, half their people lost, and even more supplies lost. Yet a turn of fortune would face them as the finally made land on the north coast of Africa. The Council of Ten wasted no time in making a base camp for their people and in months they had a small village in working order, however not without aid. The people who originally inhabited the land were quickly befriended and mixed comfortably with them, despite the Ligurians militaristic nature. After the founding of the first city, Zena, the Council of Ten set to work on improving their seafaring skills. So as to ensure they would not have a repeat of the disastrous outcome of their migration. With the new city, came a new name for these people. The Lig’ria.

The basis of life from the earth. This is what the Aargenta believe in. The earth-mother, and other primal gods are what they worship. These people started on their island, gathering together under the volcano in fear and awe, and so gathering made themselves a community. A civilization. Made from the earth itself it would seem. Though the Aargenta were an un-united people at first that quickly changed as Queen Alai took charge. This along with their belief in the earth-mother make it a rather matriarchal society.

On a lone island the Cerenal arise. Made up of what look like a hastily thrown together population of people. Everything from African, to European can be found there. This leads to a confusing culture where no one is particularly dominant. This would, in most nations, weaken the over all cultural structure, however for the Cerenal it seem the strengthen them in forging a new culture. A culture of trade. This is what binds the Cerenal, their want for the riches of everyone else, and they done quite well in comfortably securing their position on the Mediterranean seas.

To the south we find the people of Enrartu. Lead by Phastes they rose to power through a combination of diplomacy and the quick assimilation of the weaker tribes. Over the years they have been solidifying their state, putting in place the structure required to have a working government. Unlike the weaker tribes around the Nile, the Enrartu seem to grasp the importance of the structure of a leading body. Hence why, instead of having a more totalitarian rule, Phastes swiftly put in place a hierarchy to govern the newly acquired tribes. Making it so that the smaller tribes could hold onto their relative anonymity in terms of their laws and micro economics while the larger body of rule would determine the foreign policy, universal law, and macro-economics. This turned the tribes along the Upper Nile into a federation to be reckoned with. Albeit they favor peace over war. The culture of these people reflects their federation like government, valuing independence and economic growth over military might. Hence their skills, specifically in the art of pottery have made them renown traders and lovers of the arts. However this also lead to a decline in the interest in metal working, leaving little to no skill with the ores of the earth.

Farther north where colossal land masses brush past each other, the Farsake dwell. A people of fire. Their very beings seem to be made of fire, as they dash about their huts and fervently give praise to the fire gods. Their leader, Rahma, solidified their nation in one decisive sweep, as is the common method of doing much things in Farsake. Fire pits are a common site in their young city of Fire. These massive pits and kept as embers constantly rumbling until they are finally set into a roaring blaze during festival. They are experts at creating massive infernos to bake countless amounts of pottery. This combined with the Farsake’s curiosity make this nation a perfect candidate to discover the wonders of melting.

Down now, to the tumbling sands. From this harsh desert emerges the Retz Gamelia. Born in the shifting sands, and after countless years of drifting they finally settle along the shores of a lake. Here their Jacob, their leader founds the first city of the Gamelia people, Gamel, named after their most precious commodity, the camel. They believe the camel is all they need, and perhaps it is. It is, after all, perfectly suited for the land in which they dwell. Hence why their culture is revolves around this animal so much, elevating it to almost god like status. Camels are used for everything from currency, to mobile homes and make up the structure of the Gamelia’s religion.

Further onward to the clash and grunts of a brutal people, the Pinkajar, who carved their names into the land with brutal efficiency and careful slaughter. The history of these people is one steeped in mystery and legend, with splatters of bloody clashes with other weaker tribes that they encountered. A war like people who have little like for any who don’t resemble them, the Pinkajar were originally a nomadic race. For many years they seemed to be just a squabbling bunch of marauders, however with the rise of Mankaj Kanvel, who finally united the tribes under one rule and created the nation of Aj Pazkada, with the founding of their first city, Kada-Paz (meaning the Final City). This is only one demonstration of their almost arrogant view of their people, as simply superior. This was reinforced by their numerous successes in crushing weaker and relatively unprepared tribes in their vicinity and quickly solidifying their dominance between the Two Rivers. Though they may seem like a simple war tribe, their belief system is anything but simple. Combining multiple elements of ancestral worship, where they elevate their fallen heroes to almost god like status, a strong belief in the power of the heavenly bodies (sun, moon, and stars) and a belief on their own ethnic superiority, it leaves one with a sense of bafflement as to how their heads don’t just explode. Time will tell if these war like people will survive.

Up river of these vicious people reside the Huruken people, who are not really a people, in terms of one race and culture. They are a simply a coagulation of common tribes who seem to have shared rulers in the back and forth tide of political churning. After losing land from various wars between themselves, the new leader Akkios'ken finally took control of things and forged a new nation into being by quick and decisive political moves. Being of the more northern tribes, his own culture began to dominate and quickly take hold in the social structure of the Huruken. With little resistance from the southern tribes, Akkios'ken steam rolled his way smoothly into power and is virtually undisputed in his dominance of the Huruken. This was further solidified with the founding of Rrukur, the nation’s first city in which Akkios'ken rules. Although the northern culture as become almost completely dominate, elements of the southern culture mingle peacefully within it, creating an environment of peaceful coexistence, albeit rigidly structured in terms of government.

Across to the rich banks of the Indus river a civilization of piety now throbs. The Dvaraka, founding themselves a city of splendor and caste system inequality, quickly scribble their names down in the history books through mostly religious propaganda. As a people, they are defined by their religion and controlled rigidly by their castes. Legend has it that a the great rishi Vishwakarma threw his axe, saying it would land in the most holy place in all earth. And so it landed into the mouth of the Indus, where countless now wash away their impurities.

Further East we come to a rather odd nation. One that, through its oddity, has come to hate mostly everyone, considering them to be the odd ones. I speak of course of the Ikken. These violent and constantly desctructive people constructed their nation out of the brutal curing and purging of the lands around them of any and all peoples who where absurdly tall and who didn’t wear incredibly warm clothes. their first city was not really a city per-say but a place where they could gather and conduct their savagery (scary no?), which involved a general lynching of some poor fellow they caught, or perhaps a few drunken brawls. Over all the Ikken seem to be more of a bunch of drunken savages, but first impressiosn can be rather deceiving. The instant their Ikkenking would wish something they would step to it, as was shown when he deemed they should have their first city built, the city of Ikkenfarm. This was used to house their now growing patriarchal society and general abuse of everything not male, and not Ikken. A bright future lays ahead of these wierdos, but can they conquer it? Probably.

Almost in complete contrast to the Ikken, we now turn to the Yakidaar, who are anything but violent and savage, but perhaps in some ways they are alike. The Yakidaar are a trading people, and their savagery is see in their trade deals with anyone they encounter. Hordes of savages have encountered these unique people, and all thwarted by their cunning bargaining skills. Through their savage economics they have quickly expanded and stabilized their nation into a growing hub of commerce.

So they start, the dawn of civilization. Odd and powerful nations now arise. How soon shall they fall?

I can't read the text to the left

And I'll probably join as an American civ later if it's possible?

you dont have to be able to read the text, thats for me, ignore it. And yes you can make a nation in the americas, once its in the civ zones

the Celtic (ack have to use OTL names) invasion of their homeland

Go back to the less identical of the Indo-European roots and tweak it around for a bit, then use it as a replacement name if you can't just replace the Celts themselves. Or, as they shall now be known, the Skeloi. ;)

hold onto their relative anonymity

Autonomy, I am sure you mean. ;)

We get by. ;)

Aside from those points, great update, especially for your first time! When is the next deadline?

Yay!

Mr Fc, is this war or peace?
